In front of one of our most famous buildings in the Flatiron Plaza, Peter Regli's exhibited a beautiful installment with 12 amazing marble snowmen "experiencing" the several stages of melting. The work is presented by Dominique Lévy Gallery shown during a few days in March of 2015. It's was great work to amuse New Yorkers and visitor while they passed by, that's for sure!
This installment was part of a series by Regli called "Reality Hacking" and it marks "his first large-scale sculptural intervention in New York City".
Peter Regli is well known for public interventions in public spaces around the world - a work that started back in 1996.
He explains: "I chose the snowman because of its Buddha-like nature. They appear briefly in the world, bring joy and evoke memories of childhood, then disappear again, melting away without complaint.”
