In a 2,500 square foot loft in Bushwick (Brooklyn), in the year of 2007, the House of Yes was bought to life!
"This was a project driven by passion, not dollars. The goal was to build a true creative live/work space that could host an occasional dance party or circus class. Walls were torn down, kitchens were installed, studios were created, stages were built. The rooms were rented to artists, musicians, dancers and creatives who became family, collectively hosting dinner parties, movie screenings, yoga mornings and monthly dance parties."
Less than an year went by and a huge fire tore the place down, but with priceless help and love of the local community, they restarted at Grand Street (East Williamsburg) in a bigger space.
"As time passed, the space developed into a center for creative culture events and began hosting fashion shows, movie screenings, birthday parties, private events, launches, classes of all sorts, aerial theatre shows and circus spectacles."
In 2013, with the ferocious raising rents, they had again to move to a new spot…taking them back to where it all started, in Bushwick!
"The space will host a full bar and smokehouse restaurant complete with organic and vegetarian options. Having a liquor license and restaurant will make the theatre space and circus programming sustainable, allowing audiences to enjoy world-class live entertainment for an affordable ticket price. We are also very excited to have a space that will include children’s performances and family events!"
Keep your eyes opened for their next breathtaking event!
