Curiosities Our Bucket Lists 3 Ways To Make Your Trip To NYC More Comfy Matias Difabio

Traveling to New York City is always exciting and definitely on so many Bucket Lists around the globe. But, it can also be quite overwhelming. To help you out, take a look at 3 neat ways to make your trip to NYC a little more comfy.

Curiosities Our Bucket Lists 3 Ways To Make Your Trip To NYC More Comfy Matias Difabio

Whether you see yourself as a globe-trotting individual or not, you can’t say that New York City has never interested you. How about organizing that trip to NYC?

The fame, the glitz, the glamour, the opportunities – the big apple is known by pretty much every single human being on the planet and is somewhere that temps all.

Whenever a person writes out a bucket list of places they’ve like to visit, NYC is always near the top of the list.

Let’s say you’ve made the decision to get out of your natural habitat and enter the city that never sleeps. You’ve decided to bite the bullet and visit one of the most legendary places the world has ever seen (and will ever see).

How can one make the trip a little easier themselves? As a newbie to a big city, you might feel a little intimidated by the prospect of being among it all.

Well, when the city reopens and we’re able to travel again, here are just a few things you can do to make things a little easier:

Create A Plan For Your Trip To NYC

Curiosities Our Bucket Lists 3 Ways To Make Your Trip To NYC More Comfy Element5 Digital

If you have an idea of what you’re doing, then things will be a lot smoother.

On the other hand, if you are all over the place in terms of deciding what to do during your trip to NYC, the furor of the city might catch up with you. And, you may become completely overwhelmed by everything going on during the day.

If you create a plan or an itinerary of some sort, then you’re going to have a better chance of seeing what you want. You’ll also feel a lot better mentally as you head out into the wild and fast-paced nature of it all.

An idea we typically give to our clients is organizing an itinerary where you split the city is sections. The day you’re going to explore Central Park, you might just want to stick around the Upper East and Upper West Sides and enjoy everything in that area. The day you go to SoHo, you’ll get a chance to explore Lower Manhattan.

Don’t jump around too much. Commuting in New York City is easy, but can take some time.

Trains can be delayed and packed, especially during rush hours. Plus, exploring NYC by foot is so much better and more exciting! So, stick to the area you picked and create an itinerary around it.

If you’re the adventurous type, which most likely you are if you’re on our website, and want to explore more than only Manhattan, you might want to check out these 7 Best Places In Long Island City For Art Lovers.

If you’re with a group of friends, you might also consider renting a party bus from Riverside for your NY trip. This will surely make your trip memorable!

Oh! Lastly, to organize everything, you might want to by the best New York City Moleskine notebook. It contains the city map and spaces to write down your findings, organize the list of places you want to go, etc. And, it’s a pocket size, so don’t worry!

Look At The Area Beforehand

Curiosities Our Bucket Lists 3 Ways To Make Your Trip To NYC More Comfy Courtney Cook

If you know where you’re going during your trip to NYC, then you’re going to be a lot more comfortable.

Nobody likes heading out into a perilous environment. While NYC will give you all the signs telling you where you are able to go, it can still confuse you if you’re a little new to this way of living.

Before evening embarking on your travels, you should hop online and look at a map of the area.

A map is obviously nothing like the real thing, but it can give you a small idea and can put your mind at ease. For example, if you’re an influencer looking to sit down in a comfortable coffee shop or library, then you might want to check out where the best places are.

Many people like heading out into the unknown, but it’s not the wisest thing to do if you’re a little uneasy about the whole thing.

Need help? One of our Series called “16 Things NO ONE EVER Tells You About NYC“, you can check out PART 1/4 and read #4 Understanding New York’s Map, to help you out! Once you get this, you’ll feel like a true New Yorker!

If you’re in NYC for a short stay and have a lot of luggage to carry around, then you’re going to be in a bit of trouble physically, aren’t you?

Nobody likes hauling lots of things around. And, it’s especially annoying when you’re around so many others in a crowded city like New York, right?

Fortunately, you can find places like Stasher, who will be able to take your belongings off you for a short while so you can walk around freely and unencumbered.

Let us know if you need any assistance during your trip to NYC!

Have you ever dreamt of a private dinner party? One where you’re away from the hustle and bustle of a crowded restaurant, with the joys of an unbelievable chef exclusively for you!

Or, maybe even a chef to cook (and clean!) during your home dinner party? Shhh, don’t tell your guests…

In walks Le Cordon Bleu trained Chef Matthew Ricketts and his private dining concept Boutique BK.

Nestled in the heart of Carroll Gardens in Brooklyn, Boutique BK is a private dining room available by reservation only, for parties 2-14 in size. The intimate setting, offers a curated multi-course dining experience, featuring elevated American fusion cuisine, and locally sourced food when possible.

Chef Matt, as he likes to be called, will personally work to craft menus tailored to guests’ tastes and event needs. He typically offers 3 or 5-course set menus, and can accommodate dietary restrictions within your party.

While reservations are required, this is no ordinary restaurant. In fact, it’s not a restaurant at all!

Picture a beautiful dining room, exclusively for you to enjoy, celebrate and watch Matt cook. There is a peak through to the kitchen from the dining room too! In addition to cooking, he hosts and serves as he walks you through your meal, oh-so-perfectly!

The addition of Boutique BK to Carroll Gardens, where your favorite old Italian staples live, is a welcomed complement to this beautiful neighborhood.

In addition to the dining room, this superstar chef is also available for private parties. He caters up to 150 guests at the venue of your choice.

Chef Matt hails from Pittsburgh originally, but has spent more than a decade around the country training with Michelin Star restaurants to hone his craft. He saw white space in the market for private dining and personalized experiences and decided to venture into this space.

His passion for food and unique service come through the second you connect with Chef Matt. It’s truly a one of a kind experience.

So run, don’t walk to Boutique BK – space is limited and it’s suggested to book in advance! This allows optimal time for space reservation and menu curation.

You can easily get to this hidden gem through the F train in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn.

#2 Screenshot the subway map before you get onto the subway

Curiosities Our Bucket List 10 Life Saving Hacks To Travel Around NYC Subway APP Joshua Newton

Some subway cars aren’t yet updated to show the next upcoming stops/transfers so use your phone to navigate where to get off.

You can catch a cellphone signal in between some stops, but play it safe with having it already on your phone. This way, you don’t get lost or have to hover over someone to check the subway car map.

And still, if you’re more into tech-hacks, just download an APP called “New York Subway MTA MAP”. It’s works with no wifi too!

#3 Bring a selfie stick

Curiosities Our Bucket List 10 Life Saving Hacks To Travel Around NYC DJI Osmo Mobile

It may seem like such a tourist thing to do, but if you don’t want to bother a busy New Yorker to take your picture, then this is the best way to snap a quick pic!

Which one we recommend? Try the one from DJI, named Osmo Mobile 2.

Also, for inspiration, follow Fomofeed to find all the cool free NYC instagram-worthy shots.

#4 Pack comfortable walking shoes

10 Life Saving Hacks To Travel Around NYC Fort Tyron Park

With so many great walking spots in NYC, you will need a good pair of shoes that won’t hurt your feet after a few miles.

Some favorite (and free) walking spots include Fort Tyron Park, FDR Four Freedoms Park on Roosevelt Island, and the gorgeous pink Williamsburg Bridge, that has been featured in countless movies!

If you’re into adventure, you might want to explore the beauty of an upstate New York day trip or our NYC’s Maritime History Tour. So scary and curious!

#5 Use travel APPs to make your life easier and save some cash

Curiosities Our Bucket List 10 Life Saving Hacks To Travel Around NYC Bike Chris Barbalis

Here’s a list that may come in handy when traveling around NYC.

  1. Check out Yelp for check in discounts to restaurants around the city and Open Table to make a quick reservation.
  2. Use Lyft or Uber to share rides and get around the city, or the Citibike APP if you prefer biking around.
  3. Download Splitwise to make it easier to track and split expenses amongst your travel party.
  4. Check out the HotelTonight APP for exclusive hotel deals.

#6 Carry a portable phone charger

10 Life Saving Hacks To Travel Around NYC Mophie External Battery

This is crucial, especially because with pictures and social media, your battery will drain in no time. You’ll be out and about all day in New York, so be sure you buy a phone charger so you stay plugged in all day – most will be under $30 and well worth it!

But we love the Mophie products, even though they are a bit more expensive. They have a (RED) Collection where “a portion of the proceeds from every (PRODUCT)RED™ purchase will go to the Global Fund to fight AIDS in Africa”.

#7 Beware of street food

10 Life Saving Hacks To Travel Around NYC The Halal Guys
Photo Credit: Courtesy of The Halal Guys

NYC is well-known for their delicious hot dog stands and roasted peanuts, but be careful with where you choose to eat! You might have a bad time during your trip if you pick the wrong one!

Find a food cart that has a long line or keep an eye out for the most trusted food cart, like the traditional “The Halal Guys”. We love them, and so does every other New Yorker in town.

You can find them at West 53rd Street corner with 6th Avenue, and a few other spots in the city!

#8 Save money on Broadway tickets

Curiosities Our Bucket List 10 Life Saving Hacks To Travel Around NYC Hamilton Broadway
