You can also see the filming locations of certain famous movies, including the Ghostbuster Firehouse, the Tiffany & Co. flagship store from Breakfast at Tiffany’s, and many more. For a thrilling ride, you can cruise through the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel, the longest continuous underwater road in the U.S.

Experience Uptown Scenery

Uptown is known for its stadiums, like the famous Yankee Stadium, and museums through out the artsy Museum Mile. But, primarily tourists head up to see the scenery.

From the perspective of an automatic motorcycle, you can get some of the best possible views driving up the West Side Highway along the Hudson River. You might also see the palisades that rise over five hundred feet above, cross the George Washington Bridge, head up to the Medieval inspired MET Cloisters and wander through the less well known northern areas of Central Park.

Tour Midtown Monuments

Midtown Manhattan is home to the Empire State Building, Times Square, Grand Central Terminal, and other impressive bastions of culture and architecture.

Are you looking for something a little bit more out of the ordinary? You can visit sites such as the mysterious Rose Hill Historic House, the historic C.O. Bigelow Apothecary, or the quirky Chancellor Robert R. Livingston Masonic Library.

Indoor Extreme Sports: The Adrenaline Rush You Never Imagined

Fitness Health Indoor Extreme Sports New York Sanatorium

Indoor Extreme Sports is one of the coolest indoor experiences in New York City! It will make your adrenaline rush in a way you never thought possible! Come see what I’m talking about!

Fitness Health Indoor Extreme Sports New York Clock

Wondering about what to do during the winter months especially when the weather doesn’t invite you to be outdoor? A couple of weeks ago, in the middle of a snow storm, I got to experience one of the most amazing indoor adventures ever!

Indoor Extreme Sports (IES) opened over 14 years ago when Chris Fermoselle felt the need to give New Yorkers a unique, innovative indoor experiences. Starting with only Paintball back then, they now have two locations – Long Island City and Staten Island – that offers more than 8 extreme indoor experiences that includes Lasertag, Archery Tag, Escape the Room, Virtual Reality, Arcade, Axe Throwing Lounge and Rock Climbing.

Being closer to home, I visited the LIC site and started my adventure with one activity I didn’t even know existed…Axe Throwing!

Fitness Health Indoor Extreme Sports New York Axe Throw

If you are wondering about how extreme the activities are, I must say they are pretty intense, but is important for me to share that I always felt safe and supported by all Indoor staff. They were all very dedicated, took the time to explain every activity in detail and gave me the space for questions and concerns.

Axe Throwing is the latest addition at Indoor Extreme Sports.

In a bar-type lounge, there are 4 ranges where, after 10-15 minutes of instructions about safety and technique, you can start throwing your “axes”.

The best part is that there are different game modalities and axe sizes that can guarantee you hours of entertainment and competition. It is open for individual practice up to 12 people. And if axes are not your thing, in the same range you can change to arrow shooting.

IFitness Health Indoor Extreme Sports New York Bow and Arrowf you got excited about the archery, IES also has a 5,000sqft field where you can experience Archery Tag with real bows and safe arrows for the world’s first safe archery battle.

Archery Tag is best described as the game of dodgeball with a twist!

The twist is that they use safe foam-based arrow and protective equipment to play the game which allow up to 10 simultaneously players of mostly all ages to experience and participate in this fun, addictive, fast paced style game. No Archery experience necessary!

Now, lets me continue telling you about the other games!

The next activity on line was LaserTag. If you have never heard of that before, Lasertag is where two teams play each other and attempt to ‘’tag’’ each other out using air powered laser tag replica M4 Rifles. The idea is to shoot and “eliminate” the opposing team player wearing a Tactical Molle Vest.

Indoor Extreme Sports is equipped with the most advance software in the world today that tracks real time stats like your kills, deaths, ammo count, points, and more.

With more than 15,000 sqft of available space, there are three battlefields you can play in, “The Arena”, “Zombie” and “Black Ops”. Each of them allows different team sizes, starting with a minimum of 3×3 up to 12×12 players and modality games.

Expect fast paced nonstop action on all of the fields and become immersed with sound effects and real time stats that will have you thinking that you are really part of a video game! Plus, you could encounter some real-life zombies!!!

Fitness Health Indoor Extreme Sports New York Paintball Girl

I also got to experience Paintball/Reball. In this type of paintball the balls are made of rubber instead of paint so they do not explode but they still hurt the same as a normal Paintball.

The best part is that you get UNLIMITED AMMO for each of your games as the balls are all reusable.

They provide you with a Paintball Gun, Mask, Ammo Belt, and unlimited ammo. The same as LaserTag, you have various game modalities and it can be played by teams up to 10×10 players.

Fitness Health Indoor Extreme Sports New York Virtual Reality

If you are a fan of video games, IES offers a full immersive Virtual Reality Lounge where you can play multiple live games, both individually or in teams.

Plus, they have two Project Cars that represent the most realistic driving simulation where you would be able get the latest most realistic car racing experience from Go-Karts to F1 Race Cars.

They have it all and no License or Insurance required! Just a warning, you might get dizzy during the game, so be aware of medical issues when you book this activity.

Even though I wasn’t able to experience The Augmented Rock Climbing Wall because in only at the Staten Island site, you can play VR games on a giant rock wall!

WHAT? Yes, you climb and play giant interactive games on a wall for a full hour while doing the funniest work-out ever!

At the same time, if you are more of a traditional video gamer, you can enjoy all classic Arcade Games like air Hockey and more!

IES also has joined the trendy of Escape Rooms, and they have 3 different rooms called “The Sanatorium, Zombie Experience and The Order”.

Fitness Health Indoor Extreme Sports New York Sanatorium Survival

I don’t want to spoil the activity but if you chose the Sanatorium Room, expect to have an hour-long adrenaline packed experience where you will be handcuffed, shackled, and locked inside of the asylum as the mad man’s clock begins to tick while you try to find the clues, live the story and escape the room – or risk becoming a patient there for all eternity!

After more than 3 hours at Indoor Extreme Sports, I can fully recommend this indoor activity not only for winter times but throughout the whole year.

Age and previous experience is not an issue and all members of your family and friends will be equally able to enjoy all their activities.

Also, IES offers the options of multiple activities packages with more convenient prices and is fully equipped to host Birthday parties, company retreats, non-profit events and bachelor(ette) parties among others.

Finally if you enjoy this type of activity, we have a few more to recommend! Try Brooklyn Boulders, that mixed adventure with technology, the famous Renzo Gracie Fight Academy to learn some Jiu Jitsu and Muay Thai techniques and the hottest fitness classes in New York!

Spice Up Your Life With Salsa Classes in NYC

Fitness Health Salsa Classes in NYC Joel Salsa Instructors

After researching Salsa classes in NYC, I came across Joel Salsa Company. They were offering a cool bootcamp package for beginners and I didn’t need to take a partner with me! Yes, this can be a setback when signing up for Salsa classes.

🎵 Ay, no hay que llorar
Que la vida es un carnaval
Que es más bello vivir cantando…” 🎵

…sings Celia Cruz, the Queen of Salsa, in one of my favorite songs.

Dancing, as we already know, is great for our physical and mental health. I grew up taking dancing classes, but Salsa is definitely taking it to another level and I always wanted to learn it. Ahhh, my Latin blood…

Some people say original Salsa was created in NYC instead of a Hispanic country, after the influx of Latin and Caribbean immigrants in the late 1960s and early 1970s. The immigrants mixed bits of other ballroom and club dances into a new style. So yes, there are different styles of Salsa. Since I was in NYC, I chose this new style over Cuban or others out there.

After researching a little bit, I came across Joel Salsa Company. They were offering a cool bootcamp package for beginners and I didn’t need to take a partner with me! Yes, this can be a setback when signing up for Salsa classes.

I was not sure if I would have the “hips” that it takes to dance, so I signed up for just one class to try it out. After the 1st class I loved it so much that I registered for the full package: 8 classes, once a week.

I confess I wore sneakers in my first class! As soon as the instructors saw them, they asked me to come with a flat, ballerina or ballroom shoes for the next classes. So, now you know that sneakers are not good for dancing Salsa! Hahaha!

About the instructors:

My instructors were actually the founders of the company: Joel Dominguez and the co-owner, Maria Palmieri. But, they do have a great team that really knows their moves, so don’t worry!

Joel has been part of the dance world for more than twenty years, competing, teaching and performing throughout various parts of the US and Mexico.

Maria, on the other hand, is certified as a professional dance teacher by DVIDA® – Dance Vision International Dancers Association. She’s won dance competitions like the Manhattan Latin Championships, where she actually got 1st place as a newcomer.

Both instructors taught class together. Maria taught the steps to us girls, while Joel taught the guys.

First we practiced the steps alone. By the end of each class we put all the steps and movements together and danced with a partner. A rotation system was used so everyone had the chance to dance with a someone.

Every week we could see visible improvements in our “Salsa skills”, but new and more difficult steps were being taught too. The speed we danced got faster each week, and do prepare yourself to spin a lot during this Salsa bootcamp.

Fitness Health Salsa Classes in NYC Joel Salsa Company

The company has plenty of events happening in other venues around town, where students are welcome to join. Most of them are at different Salsa clubs throughout Manhattan. It’s extremely restorative, funny and fun.

I just felt that Salsa was my thing, from day 1!

I “graduated” from my beginner salsa classes in NYC and I couldn’t wait to start the advanced classes. At that time they didn’t offer online classes, but now they do. Hooray! So, if you can’t attend it in person, you can still register for the online classes.

Are you excited? I want to do it all over again!

Joel Salsa also offers Bachata and Cha Cha Cha. For more info about dates, prices and other information, check their website.

Get inspired by the Latin rhythms and dance your hips off. It’s truly contagious, so just have fun!

Don’t forget to share your first steps with us! And if you enjoyed these salsa classes in NYC, you might want to test your limits at a fitness dance by Body Conceptions or just try the hottest fitness classes you need you know in NYC!

So many people come to NY and tell me that they’d love to have a picnic at the park. They see so many locals having fun and they want the same experience, but don’t know where to start from or don’t have time to plan it all.

In addition, going to Central Park can be an overwhelming experience due to all the tourists roaming around. But, going to Central Park, with the right information of the best hidden spots for a delicious, unique picnic, can be priceless!

Plus, it’s also a great idea for a special celebration or a romantic afternoon at the park!

Horseback Riding

BTSNYC Experiences On Going Outdoor Activities Horseback Riding Central Park

Yes! You can do horseback riding at Central Park too! Different from the carriages that over work the horses, our partner takes really good care of them.

Each horse works a maximum of 6hours a day and are transported to the park properly.

The tours are 1 hour long and pass by the most beautiful spots in the park from Strawberry Fields, where the John Lennon memorial is, to the Reservoir and other special spots.

If you have kids, it’s also a great activity since they have 10min pony rides. Little ones should be 2 years old at least and the guide is beside them all the time.

I rode Oscar, a huge, beautiful, white horse and had a great time exploring Central Park through another angle.

Contact us for more information and to book the experience!

Jet Ski in the Hudson River

I had heard before that people could rent a jet ski, hop on and enjoy the Hudson River! But, I had never really tried it.

Well, I finally decided to be brave and go try it out, after all, how cool is it to actually ride a jet ski on this famous river?!

We got the ferry at a downtown spot, ride beside the 9/11 Memorial and head to a Marina on the Jersey side. It’s only 15min away from Manhattan. Super quick and seamless.

Each way costs $8/person and ferries leave quite frequently, so don’t worry.

There are 2 types of rides, a shorter one that covers mostly Midtown Manhattan and downtown, and the 2.5h ride that you actually drive around the entire Manhattan island. So cool!

I had a great time! The view is truly spectacular, it’s a priceless experience and the Hudson water is quite, by the way!

Olga Kochanova is a prominent, internationally recognized ballroom dancer from Saint-Petersburg, Russia. She is the founder of Brooklyn Dance Lessons – a NYC-based dance company that offers private lessons of ballroom, social, and wedding dance.

Olga has been a practicing ballroom dancer for over 20 years. She has studied all major styles of ballroom dance as well as rhythmic gymnastics. Olga is proficient in the International Standard, Latin styles as well as in American Rhythm and Smooth.

Having participated in over 200 prestigious competitions, Olga has garnered many awards along the way. Among these trophies are two first place awards from the Saint-Petersburg Ballroom Competition and first place in the Petrozavodsk City Ballroom Competition.

In 2001, she joined the Professional Ballroom School, Esperanza – the number one school in Saint-Petersburg. There she studied under Radik and Eve Bagautinova, two professional Latin-style Ballroom dancers.

Throughout the years, she has trained under professional dancers and world champions like Karen Hardy, Andrew Sinkinson, Goran Nordin, Gherman Mustuc, Iveta Lukosiute, Daniel Heroux, Patty Contenta, and Gennadiy Gunko.

Amazing, right?

Currently living in New York, we invited her to share the 7 best NYC social dance venues:

Swing 46

“Swing 46 is one of the oldest restaurants in NY that plays live music and has a dance floor for its guests. It is not a big dance floor, but you can show off your basic moves or watch amazing swing dancers making their performances.

Here, live bands usually play a mix of some ballroom music, like Foxtrot, Rumba and Swing, as well as some hits from Lindy Hop and Jitterbug Era. They are open every evening for dancing and lessons start at 9pm. To get in you need to pay music charge of $15 – $20, depending on the day of the week.

I would recommend to go in the beginning of the week if you would like to dance, and Thursday to Saturday if you would like to watch.”

This Jazz and Swing Dance Club was founded in June of 1997 in Hell’s Kitchen. They offer a good menu with American Fare dishes prepared with the carefully sourced ingredients. Their sauces and dressings are homemade, as well as their freshly baked bread.

If you’re in the mood for Happy Hour, they have it daily from 5pm to 7pm, with half price drink specials at the bar.

Hours: Daily from 5pm – 1am

Band starts playing:
Sunday – Thursday: 8:30pm
Friday & Saturday: 9:30pm

Location: 349 West 46th Street

Rainbow Room

Curiosities Our Bucket Lists 7 Best NYC Social Dance Venues Rainbow Room

“Hidden on top of Rockefeller Center, the Rainbow Room is an absolute NYC favorite spot.

This fancy restaurant with Manhattan’s skyscrapers view on 65th floor, has a dance floor in the center area. They started organizing social dance events since mid 20th century!

On Monday evenings you can enjoy your date night with Empire State Building view, 3 course dinner, live music and your favorite cocktail. It is definitely not the cheapest option in New York, but it’s well worth it!”

Their grand opening dates back to 1934 and was one of the best late night destination spots in town. Famous of their charity events, they attracted the biggest names to attend their gatherings.

It’s a great place to go for dinner, drinks and even to celebrate a special date or host a corporate event.

But, definitely try their nights with world-class dining and dancing with live music!

Hours: Check their website for the different hours in each of their spaces.

1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge: Thoughtfully designed. Intentionally built.

Hotels 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge Dumbo Lobby

One of New York’s coolest new hotels is located in the neighborhood of Brooklyn Heights, in Brooklyn. The 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge is not only gorgeous, but is also considered one of the top sustainable luxe hotels in the world today.

Many people believe that the best NYC hotels are located in Manhattan. So, we decided to show you one of our favorite hotels in New York, located in Brooklyn Heights, Brooklyn!

The 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge officially opened this past February and in no time, became the new hot spot to stay (and play!), when in NY.

“Thoughtfully designed. Intentionally built.”

It’s the 3rd property of the group, that has a hotel in South Beach – Miami and their 1st NYC location in Midtown Manhattan, steps away from Central Park.

Not only is the 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge strategically located by the Brooklyn Bridge – with one of Brooklyn’s prime views of Manhattan, but the entire concept behind the property is pretty cool.

To start, the group behind these properties is active and implements sustainable practices and techniques throughout all their hotels.

We are all about working and supporting Sustainable Traveling – a topic widely discussed this year after the United Nations announced 2017 as the Year of Sustainability.

The idea that travelers today are looking for “smart travel” where you can have fun and, in addition, leave a positive impact in the local community, is growing and what we hope will soon go mainstream.

Moreover, as we discussed at an event we recently sponsored called Travel+SocialGood Summit, sustainable traveling should not be a topic of discussion, since all traveling should be sustainable.

The 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge is aligned with the 3 pillar of Sustainable Traveling: Social, Economic and Environmental.

So, let’s talk about their amenities!

Hotels 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge Dumbo View

To start, the gorgeous rooms are decorated reclaimed woods, industrial steel, 100% organic cotton sheets and custom hemp-blend mattress by Keetsa. We enjoy the floor-to-ceiling windows – many of which feature an unobstructed view of New York City!

We love cool bathrooms. You can expect bathrooms equipped with robes, socks and soft cotton-knit towels. Plus, their design is pretty unique and integrated perfectly into the room. The interesting and sustainable aspect of it, is that they use triple-filtered rain showers, that come from the rainwater tank built beneath the hotel.

If you want to stay there in grand style, check out the Riverhouse Room, a.k.a. Presidential Suite. It has 3 bedrooms in a 2,000 square foot space, carved stone tub and artwork by fantastic local artisan. And still, a super cool curated minibar where you’ll find some house-made cocktail recipes. How much better can it get? Well, from your bed you have a priceless view of the Brooklyn Bridge and Manhattan’s skyline!

See a few pictures of this room:

In addition, the hotel offers some delicious restaurant and food & drink options!

Their main restaurant is called The Osprey. As they explain, they serve “market driven American comfort food” and just recently opened early November. The restauranteur behind it is the expert, Matt Abramcyk, known for places like Yves, Warren 77, Tiny’s and Beatrice Inn, where our Insider Interviewee, Natalie Klein, recommended a while back. Matt partnered with chef Michael Oliver and brought in chef Mike Poiarkoff to run the cuisine. The décor, of course, if fabulous with floor-to-ceiling windows and a great view of Brooklyn Bridge Park. They are open daily for dinner at 5:30pm.

Their café, Neighbors, worked exclusively with local Brooklyn purveyors offering super fresh, healthy and seasonal products.

Located at their lobby area, the café receives natural sunlight – a perfect scenery. Their menu offers countless beverages, smoothies and Devoción coffee. In addition, for breakfast they have delicious sandwiches, pastries, granolas, bagels and eggs. Lunch and dinner menus are abundant with soups, salads, sandwiches, sweets and options for the kids. And, they have a fantastic curated selection of ready-made Brooklyn artisanal goods.

The 1 Rooftop is the place to be, especially during the hot and deliciously humid months of the year. Yes. We love “humid” day. They have outdoor seating, full-bar service, great music, beautiful and energetic crowd, tasty bites and a seasonal rooftop pool. It’s a great place to go for drinks or celebrate a birthday with friends! The view? Yup. Priceless! Seeing the sunset and the Manhattan lights lighting up is surely the ultimate Brooklyn sunset experience. They’re open daily from 6am – 10pm.

And still, the Lobby Lounge is an excellent option for drinks before dinner or before going out at night. They focus on local botanicals, local beers and seasonally foraged ingredients. We love it! They open daily from 4pm through 11:30pm.

After spending a long and exhausting day exploring New York, we can’t forget to mention the Bamford Haybarn Spa!

Open daily from 10am – 8pm, the spa offers a tempting selection of holistic treatments focused on nourishing you from inside out: body – mind – sprit, as they say. All products are made with natural and organic ingredients organically certified. Treatments happen in one of their 12 treatment rooms start with a default hand-and-foot ritual. They range from facials, body treatments, massages, manicures & pedicures and grooming.

Also, this is most certainly a place we recommend to consider if you’re planning a NYC Wedding, a birthday, an important celebration or even a work event. If you’re not certain where to start organizing it all, let our experts help you out and for Corporate Requests, we can assist you too.

For the pet-lovers, they are pet-friendly! Just note: your pet should be under 40lb (18kg). They also state that you have “another kind of pet”, they’re happy to try and accommodate them!

They have other locations across the globe, so be sure to check them out!

If you’ve just moved to this beautiful, tireless city, or if you’ve been in New York City long enough, you will notice two topics that will always (and we mean, always!) come up during dinners or bar conversations:

  1. RENT! It’s amazing how people are eager to know how much you pay for rent and all the amenities you have in your building to justify the high prices. Note: It does not matter if they just met you, they WILL boldly ask…
  2. DATING! The “Dating Scene” in New York is, without a doubt, unique and different from anywhere else on this planet! It’s a battle to figure out all the do’s and don’ts, right? So, after you do, and everything seams to be flowing well with your beau…BOOM! The guy dumps you…

With the Dating topic in mind, our Contributor Ari Crane interviewed Antonia Greco from Loved Tapped. She is a NYC-based Dating and Relationship Expert. She is also the co-author of “Who Lies More, Men or Women? 6 Ways to Succeed in Dating, Relationships, and Life”.

Over the past eight years, Antonia’s worked one-on-one with clients of all ages to help them meet partners, date successfully, and has had a helping hand in several marriages.

In her spare time, she likes to run, fuss over cute dogs, play piano and bake pies.

“A question I often get asked by singles is ‘Where can I go to meet people?’ — Simply put, you can meet people anywhere you go. It’s just a matter of having the guts to open the dialogue and/or be approachable. That said, it’s beneficial to pick places that reflect something about your lifestyle, your passions, or something new you’d like to try.”

Here are Antonia’s top picks in the City! Do check them out and, who knows, maybe you’ll find your partner in crime, for life.
