When the Rockwood Music Hall opened in the year of 2005, it was only a small bar that offered a few live performances. With time, it became one of the best New York City venues to go for live music.

Even though they’ve had huge names on stage, on the other hand the owner, Mr. Rockwood, enjoys putting together shows by emerging new young talents too. You will probably see several of these guys in the near future performing on much bigger stages! They are all fantastic artists!

They have a three different stages, so be sure to see them all. Some will charge a small cover fee, and other rooms are free of charge.

It is definitely one of the best places to meet these new upcoming bands, a great crowd, amazing music and the perfect vibe!

As many New York City venues, all shows have a one drink minimum standing and two drink minimum, if you’re seated.

Advance tickets are available online until 4pm on the day of the show. Any remaining tickets can be purchased at the door at showtime.

We also love the Lower East Side neighborhood. Here are a few places we recommend you to visit.

For a true cultural New York experience, head to the Nuyorican Poet Cafe to see some of the best live poetry. For dinner, you might want to explore one of the city’s secret restaurants, Kuma Inn.

The Bluestockings Bookstore is definitely a place worth visiting to feel what this collectively-owned business is all about. Last, if you’re in the mood for shopping, go explore Vaute, the first vegan fashion line that is shaking the fashion world in New York.

Hours:
#1 Stage: opens 6pm Monday – Friday | 3pm on Saturday & Sunday
#2 Stage: opens at 6:30pm daily
#3 Stage: opens at 6:30pm daily

Zinc Bar: A Hidden Jazz Bar In The Greenwich Village

Nightlife Bars Zinc Bar Façade by Cbk

Zinc Bar, located in Greenwich Village, swept me off my feet – or chair – on my first visit! It was beautifully said by the New York Magazine: “Down steep stairs and through a velvet curtain, but don’t bother unless you intend to become a regular…”

Alex Kay and Kristina Kossi, the owners of Zinc Bar, were “lucky” enough to secure the location, once the famous Club Cinderella closed down. It was also a Jazz spot and very famous during the 1940’s.

When you walk along West 3rd Street, you do have to pay attention to find the spot. The entrance is small, below eye level and you have go walk down a few steps. Passing the small door, you’ll see a long full bar with stools lined up. You can start your night by grabbing a drink there, before the show.

Passing a nostalgic red velvet curtain, you’ll find another space with tabled sorted relatively close to each other, and a small stage. That’s where all the magic happens!

Up on stage an amazing Afro Jazz band was having a blast and so was every other person in the room! The guys were just crazy vibing off each other and having so much fun.

We were there with musician friends. We have to say, when other musicians get just as excited as the band on stage…that’s something not to miss.

What you can expect? Inspired in African, Latin & Brazilian rhythms, a great insider crowd and definitely an unforgettable night!

Visit their website to see the events by genre. They have everything from Avant-garde Jazz, Blues, Bossa Nova, Cabaret, Flamenco, Free Jazz, Funk to Malagasy, Reggae, Salsa, Tango Jazz, Vocal, World Music and many more.

Certainly one of our preferred NYC Jazz bar in Greenwich Village.

Before, or after the show, you can make a reservation for dinner at Palma, just a few blocks away. And, if you want to try and stay at a hotel in the Greenwich Village, you can try The Marlton Hotel – one of the hot spots in town.

If you are a jazz lover, be sure to go to the bi-annual event at Governor’s Island called the Jazz Age Lawn Party. Also, you might want to have lunch or dinner at Epistrophy. There, the owner Luca, plays Jazz for his clients every last Sunday of the month!

Note: Some of the nights, there is a cover fee for the stage area. It’s not much, around $8 – $10. The bar area, on the other hand, nas no cover fee, but may request a minimum of two drinks depending on the day. Definitely, a good “problem” to have!

Last, we can help organize any event you’d like in the city. It can be a private event, or a corporate event, so contact our experts to see how we work.
