4 Ways To Ensure You’re Making Progress With Your Workouts

4 Ways To Ensure You’re Making Progress With Your Workouts Behind the Scenes NYC

New Yorkers are known for working hard, playing hard…and exercising hard – be it outdoor at Central Park or indoor at the gym. So, check out 4 ways to ensure you’re making progress with your workout!

4 Ways To Ensure You’re Making Progress With Your Workouts Behind the Scenes NYC

Many New Yorkers are into fitness and enjoy a long run in Central Park, an intensive hour at the gym after work or even the countless Hot Yoga or Pilates morning classes you can find around town! So, let’s see if you’re making progress with your workout!

When people go out on runs or head to the gym in order to get fitter, there is always a goal in mind. Some people want to become stronger and some people want to become leaner.

Whatever your goal is, you have to make sure that you take the right steps to achieve it.

The problem with fitness is that there are so many different ways that you can reach your goals, meaning they can sometimes confuse people.

The good thing is that it’s not too complicated overall and that there are some very simple things you could do in order to get what you want.

It’s a case of sticking to the same kinds of habits and being consistent with what you’re doing. If you venture away from your normal habits and consistently change things up, you will likely stay in the same position for regress.

Here are a few things you can do to ensure that you reach your fitness goals and you are making progress with your workouts:

Eat More Of The Right Stuff

If you are trying to build more muscle and become a stronger person, you’ll need to make sure that you are eating more foods and getting more protein into your diet.

If you’re trying to build muscle in a slower and more sensible way, then you want to ensure you are increasing calories ever so slightly while upping the protein.

It’s not all about eating more, however, as you need to make sure you cater to whatever you are looking to achieve.

Do Exercises That Supplement Your Goals

If you have an overall goal that you’re looking to achieve, you won’t get there by simply doing the same kind of boring things over and over again.

It’s good to keep a fundamental system and routine going, but you will also need to have exercises that supplement what you’re trying to get out of it all.

Your body is one big machine, so it’s a case of working out all of the little cogs.

For instance, a rear delt fly would be fantastic for trying to build overall push strength. It is an exercise that is often overlooked as people find it pretty boring.

Don’t neglect these kinds of things, however.

Track Most Things You Do

If you track what you are doing in terms of your workouts, you’re going to get a lot further than if you do things on a whim.

You have to make sure that you know what you did last week and the week before that when you head into a new workout.

You will likely stall or go backward if you have no idea or there is no system to it.

Work With A Personal Trainer

If you are working together with a professional who has been around for a very long time, you are likely to get what you want.

They will have seen situations like you before and we’ll know exactly what steps to take. Whether you take part in fitness classes or do one-on-one sessions, you will feel the benefits.

Curiosities Insider Interviews Antonia Greco NYC Dating Expert

Lets talk about Dating in New York City?! Everyone knows about the “rumors” about NYC’s dating scene and how different it is from the rest of the world! Antonia Greco tell us about the best spots to hang out, if you’re single!

If you’ve just moved to this beautiful, tireless city, or if you’ve been in New York City long enough, you will notice two topics that will always (and we mean, always!) come up during dinners or bar conversations:

  1. RENT! It’s amazing how people are eager to know how much you pay for rent and all the amenities you have in your building to justify the high prices. Note: It does not matter if they just met you, they WILL boldly ask…
  2. DATING! The “Dating Scene” in New York is, without a doubt, unique and different from anywhere else on this planet! It’s a battle to figure out all the do’s and don’ts, right? So, after you do, and everything seams to be flowing well with your beau…BOOM! The guy dumps you…

With the Dating topic in mind, our Contributor Ari Crane interviewed Antonia Greco from Loved Tapped. She is a NYC-based Dating and Relationship Expert. She is also the co-author of “Who Lies More, Men or Women? 6 Ways to Succeed in Dating, Relationships, and Life”.

Over the past eight years, Antonia’s worked one-on-one with clients of all ages to help them meet partners, date successfully, and has had a helping hand in several marriages.

In her spare time, she likes to run, fuss over cute dogs, play piano and bake pies.

“A question I often get asked by singles is ‘Where can I go to meet people?’ — Simply put, you can meet people anywhere you go. It’s just a matter of having the guts to open the dialogue and/or be approachable. That said, it’s beneficial to pick places that reflect something about your lifestyle, your passions, or something new you’d like to try.”

Here are Antonia’s top picks in the City! Do check them out and, who knows, maybe you’ll find your partner in crime, for life.

B-Cup

Curiosities Insider Interviews Antonia Greco B-Cup

“Whether you’re “working remotely” or in the mood for a chill place to enjoy some coffee, look no further than B-Cup. This hip little haunt is tucked away in Alphabet City and is the “office” for many singles. With free, reliable wi-fi and iced coffees served in carafes, this friendly space is a mix of funky and accommodating. Bonus: Most people come here alone so it’s the perfect place to table share during the busier hours!”

Alphabet City is part of what most people know as the East Village. The area is very residential, but it is the home of several bars, cocktail spots and super cool restaurants. The area is filled with life and great spots to uncover.

Their park is called Tompkins Square Park. You might recall it from the post we wrote about a Feeding Program our Founder coordinates, feeding 200 homeless every week!

The area has also a significant Puerto Rican community, that definitely brings an uplifting vibe. After all, we know how cheerful Puerto Ricans are, right!?

“If you find museums to be boring, then maybe Cooper Hewitt will change your mind. The interactive environment – especially in the Immersion Room – is the perfect place to strike up conversation with others, all while interacting with art and design. When you’re done, grab a coffee from the cafe and head to the garden!”

The museum was founded in 1897 and was named “Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum”.

It’s dedicated exclusively on historical and contemporary design, making it the only museum in the US with this focus.

Therefore, it has “more than 210,000 design objects spanning 30 centuries.

From ancient textiles and works on paper to icons of modern design and cutting-edge technologies, Cooper Hewitt’s collection serves as inspiration for creative work of all kinds and tells the story of design’s paramount importance in improving our world.”

Fitness Health Central Park Track Club Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Reservoir

As we all know, health has become a mainstream subject all around the world. With this in mind, we love what Central Park Track Club offers.

More and more, people are changing their daily habits. What you eat, is just as important as what you buy (i.e. clothes, products, etc) and obviously, how you deal with a daily exercise routine.

For those who REALLY want to take it seriously, sign up for the Central Park Track Club.

Founded in 1972, they are a competitive running team looking for serious runners. Note: Serious does not mean professional. It just means that you need to be committed and opened to their training methods.

Running can be a tough exercise to add to your routine and it demands focus and discipline. But, we have to say, it’s a fantastic sport once you get the hang of it. Feeling the adrenaline fall into your blood stream is priceless.

Our Founder, Fê Paronetto, just loves it!

They have workouts for the following groups:

  • Road runners who primarily race 5K to the marathon
  • Cross country and track runners who primarily race 800m to 10K
  • Sprinters, 400m hurdlers, and throwers
  • Jumpers and short hurdlers

Their mission is:

“To develop athletes for national and international competitions in track and field and long distance running; and to promote health, physical fitness and the achievement of competitive excellence through participation in track and field and long distance running competitions.”

So, if you’d like to apply to the Central Park Track Club NYC, here is the application form.

After the run? There is nothing better like just laying in the park and getting some prana (i.e. energy), from the Earth. So, take some time to just enjoy for beauty and peace at Central Park.

Lastly, you might also want to check out The Bridges Run Tour! It can be a fun experience!
