Best Rooftop Venues for a Bachelorette Party in New York

Best Rooftop Venues for a Bachelorette Party in New York Behind the Scenes NYC

New York is definitely one of the best places on Earth to go out! So, check out the best rooftop venues for a Bachelorette party in New York!

Best Rooftop Venues for a Bachelorette Party in New York Behind the Scenes NYCThere are thousands of rooftop party venues in New York and almost every one of them is perfect for a Bachelorette party.

But you want yours to be special (and who doesn’t?) so you have to search through the best ones to figure out what you want. We are going to do that for you.

First, you need to think about the basics like how many to invite, the style, and whether you will have food or just cocktails.

If it is your party, you can easily decide most of these issues but if you are planning it for someone else, you may have to be more creative.

Talk to the bride or, if it is a surprise, the maid of honor about the specifics you will need to plan for.

When will the big day be?

Since the party will be outdoors and it is in New York, the best time for this shindig is spring or early summer.

You do not want it to be too hot or too cold and New York tends to get a lot of snow, so you definitely do not want to plan it for the winter.

Even early autumn is not a bad choice as long as you keep an eye on the weather reports.

Figure out the budget

There is always a budget to think about and with a bachelorette party, there are a lot of little things to count that can add up.

From food and drinks to décor and transportation, you have to make sure you have enough money for everything before you go all out.

You do not want to run out of money before you get it all paid for.

Decide on the guest count

Determining the guest count is not just about how many people are in the bridal party.

Some of the people that the bride may want to be there may not be a part of the bridal party for some reason or another.

And you must think about the budget because the more guests you have, the more money it will cost.

Choose a theme

There are so many themes that you can choose from to make the party more unique.

You do not want it to be just another bachelorette party where the girls don’t really mingle and there is little to no entertainment. Here are some ideas that we think are awesome:

  • Beach theme with swimsuits, colorful drinks, and fake palm trees
  • Vegas theme with casino games, bright neon lights, and Elvis
  • 50s theme with poodle skirts and old-time rock and roll
  • Pink everything for a Barbie theme
  • A final fiesta featuring Mexican food, margaritas, and a piñata
  • Game night theme with board games and fun card games
  • Masquerade or costume party theme
  • Rainbows and glitter for a unicorn party theme

Décor and invites

Once you decide the theme and budget, you can plan the décor and send out the invites.

Make the invites match the theme and be sure to ask them to RSVP as soon as possible. You need to know how many people will be attending to plan the best party.

Choose some games

All bachelorette parties need games no matter whether it is a small get-together or a huge bash.

Of course, you want to try and match the games with the theme as much as possible. Here are some of our favorites:

  • Beach blanket bingo
  • How well do you know the bride?
  • Bachelorette roulette
  • Pin the kiss on the Mister
  • Beer pong with fancy glasses
  • Never have I ever

Secure transportation for the partygoers

No matter how many people you have and where you end up, you want to make sure everyone has a safe ride home. Your friends will appreciate it too. Plan for a party bus, limo, or hire an all-night Uber.

The list is endless in New York, but you want something that will fit your needs.

Some of the rooftop venues are for large groups while others can only handle a few. We found a few nice spots to choose from.

This week we interviewed a great lady called Holly Burt! If you Google, one of the first things you’ll probably see about her is that she has the 2016 record for Longest Legs in America, measuring 49.5″ (126cm)!

Aside from having this beautiful natural gift, Holly is also a super talented designer and has a pretty funny and kind personality that just brightens your day!

My name is Holly Burt and I have been living in NYC since 2013.

I came up here for school where I attended Parsons School of Design and was so lucky to have experienced an unorthodox college experience where the city was my campus.

Now having graduated, I work in graphic product development for a huge childrenswear manufacturer working with brands like Nike, Converse, Jordan, Hurley, and Levi’s.

Although, you may know me from the internet or TV as having the record (obtained in 2016) for the Longest Legs in America (49.5 inches).

The past couple of years I was featured on shows like TLC- primetime documentary, Comedy Centrals – Tosh.0, The Travel Channel, the New York Post and much more!

Recently I have been working with tall women’s apparel companies which I am so passionate for standing at 6’5 (198cm), I’m hoping to start my own tall apparel company one day.

Now, 2020 has a lot in store! Shortly, I will be moving to London to accompany my boyfriend who just moved to start his job at Amazon. We’re now in the process of obtaining my Visa. For now, I am quickly checking off everything that’s been on my NY bucket list before the big move!

Lastly, I also have a graphic design website and have worked with great brands like Nike, Converse, Levi’s, Snapchat and others!

Holly shared her 7 best spots for the perfect girl’s night out in New York City. And we have to confess…it’s a pretty cool list of places!

We were super excited to see that she chose spots in 3 neighborhoods that we are also super fond of: the East Village, the Lower East Side and Bushwick in Brooklyn.

So, take a look at Holly Burt’s 7 spots to enjoy the perfect girl’s night out in New York City:

Located on the East Village border is a poppin, but not too poppin of a place to grab dinner and drinks with friends.

Good Night Sonny has a long bar and small tables aligned on a big window front. The acoustics are great so you can actually have a conversation.

A good friend, Chad Shaner is the head chef here and has a lot of awards under his belt like a 2-star review in the New York Times (critic’s pick), as well as a Michelin Guide Bib Gourmand.

I know you will be in good hands here – also the cocktails are BANGING!

Love this place because you could spend hours on end here and not even know it. It’s Greek/Mediterranean vibes and I’ve been here a lot before I start my night out.

Really amazing food and the interior it’s very jammed packed but it feels like you’re in Santorini.

I highly recommend the lamb chops, shot of Mastika (literally tastes like an edible pine candle- in a good way) and a bottle of Ouzo.

If you come here in the summertime you can sit outside on the streets and watch all the bar goers go by since it’s conveniently located in a strip of amazing bars in the Lower East Side.

This lovechild-of-a-speakeasy-and-lounge right off Tompkins Square Park might be easy to walk past.

It’s a fairly nondescript bar, but as soon as you walk through the mini alley and enter the dark basement, you’ll be ready to set the scene for a sultry rendezvous with a special someone, be it a lover or a friend.

There are hints of red neon lights to brighten up the dark corners and a disco ball glimmering to the 2000’s hip hop music.

They have a pretty awesome happy hour- goes until 8PM!

It’s happy hour and my friends and I tend to get thirsty before 5pm. We always like to start a night out at a bougie rooftop if the weather permits.

A favorite rooftop of mine is Mr. Purple. I personally think it has the best views of the city because I prefer a Downtown backdrop of the city as opposed to Midtown/Uptown.

Oh, and it does have a pool on the rooftop, so in the summertime you can jump in with an Aperol Spritz in your hand.

But this place also holds a special place in my heart because this is where my boyfriend and I had our first date!

Hours:

Saturday: 11am – 4am
Sunday: 11am – 2am

Double Down Saloon

Curiosities Insider Interviews Holly Burt Double Down Saloon
Credit: Courtesy of Double Down Saloon

If you are looking for a gritty and disgusting dive bar, Double Down Saloon is your place! Super cheap drinks and you have to try their signature shot “Ass Juice”.

I still can’t figure out what it is, but it sits in a warm jug under the bar. The bartenders are super mean, but it goes with the ambience – I’m pretty sure most of them are ex-dominatrix’s.

There is an ancient myth that when the bartender does “last call” she hops on top of the bar and screams “LAST CALL” with a whip in her hand, and everyone must respond simultaneously “YES MA’AM”.

They also have a pool table and 80’s porn going on the big screen.

Off to Bushwick! Turks Inn is whimsical and has crazy decorations.

Everywhere you look has something outrageous, including clowns, various birds and old photos.

The outside does stand out a little for the strip, but it does nothing to prepare you for inside.

First thing you notice when entering is the low light with a red cast. Then your eyes just go all over and are overwhelmed in a good way. So many layers of whatever all over the place.

They have pretty good Turkish food, but having a Turkish boyfriend and going to Istanbul has ruined me for American Turkish food.

I would say: go to this place for the experience, they also have a dance club right next door with a live DJ called Sultan Room.

Right down the street from Turks Inn is the grand finale, House of Yes in Bushwick, Brooklyn.

This is the perfect place to dance your heart away until 4am. Most events are themed, and people tend to wear amazing costumes.

I’ve been here for several parties and always had a blast.

The scene here is LGBTQ friendly and you won’t run into anyone that doesn’t have a smile on their face, it truly is magical.

If it’s a themed night, be prepared. They will not let you in if you aren’t dressed to the theme, but no worries – they have a thrift like costume shop out front that comes equipped with everything you need to dress to theme.

House of yes has a live DJ set, cage dancers, and acrobatics, don’t be surprised if you see people dancing from ropes 20ft up!

Hours: May vary. Please check their website.

No Sleep in NYC: Best Places to Go for a Night Out

Nightlife Bars Best Places to Go for a Night Out NYC

New York is definitely NOT the place to sleep! So, take a look at the best places to go for a night out that will make your New York experience memorable!

Nightlife Bars Best Places to Go for a Night Out NYC

Almost every movie set in New York highlights the best spots that are sure to make you wish you could teleport there in an instant.

If you ever find yourself in the city that never sleeps, be sure to craft an itinerary of all the best spots open at night.

There’s something for everyone in a city as diverse as New York City, so you’re sure to find the crowds where you’ll feel most welcome.

Here are some of the best places to go for a night out to remember.

Visit a Jazz Bar

NYC is a jazz destination – actually it was the jazz epicenter – where many of the biggest names in the genre like Ella Fitzgerald and Charlie Parker launched their careers.

Luckily, there are still a number of jazz bars you can hit up for live performances.

Our ‘Must-See Jazz Spots in Harlem’ focused on the best traditional spots in the neighborhood, but there are actually quite a few others around the city.

Blue Note

The Blue Note proudly boasts its reputation as the jazz capital of the world.

It houses new talents as well as veterans like Chick Corea. Their Facebook page says that they’ve been one of the world’s most premier clubs and cultural institutions since 1981.

You’re in for a surprise, as throughout the week, celebrities often make special appearances.

Location: 131 West 3rd Street (b/t 6th Avenue & MacDougal Street)

The Village Vanguard

Located in Greenwich Village, The Village Vanguard has been a legendary location since 1935.

Over 100 jazz albums have been recorded here.

Patrons have to refrain from speaking loudly, taking videos and photos, as well as using their phones – they’re all about enjoying the music and respecting the artists at The Village Vanguard.

The Casino Scene

While casinos are not as widespread in the city as other major gaming hubs, the New York Times reports that state officials are considering putting casinos in NYC, due to how popular casino-resorts are in major cities across the globe.

PPPoker’s LinkedIn page shows that major poker events are held everywhere from Argentina to London, showcasing its increasingly global player base.

If you fancy a bit of gambling while in New York, the following places offer just that and much more.

Resorts World Casino at Aqueduct

This is an obvious choice as it’s the only casino currently within the boundaries of the city in Queens.

Originally a “racino” (horse racing track), there are also video slots for gambling in some arenas, as well as table games if that’s more up your style.

Location: 110-00 Rockaway Blvd, Jamaica, NY

www.rwnewyork.com

Empire City Casino

Twenty miles north of Time Square is Empire City in Yonkers, which features another racino as well as more video slot machines.

It’s not too far from main haunts like the Bronx, and is just thirty minutes away from Queens.

It’s quite a memorable destination and it attracts a younger crowd since the minimum age of playing is 18 and not 21.

Find a Hidden Speakeasy

NYC has a number of nightclubs and bars for any occasion, but if you’re in the mood for something low-key, a speakeasy might be a good pick. It’s surely part of the best places to go for a night out in New York City!

The Prohibition was the heyday for New Yorkers who wanted to unwind and let loose with some quiet drinks.

But while it’s no longer forbidden, the thrill of having secret bars remains unparalleled and NYC still has some hidden gems in the most unexpected places.

And, they’re sure to make you feel like you’re experiencing a blast from the past.

Attaboy

Attaboy is as clandestine as far as secret bars go.

This place doesn’t accept reservations, nor does it offer a menu.

Those who have heard about this little spot know that they can only enter on two conditions: if their party (of no more than six) is complete, and if they knock on the barely labeled door.

Bespoke drinks can be quite pricey, but they are made to your liking.

Location: 134 Eldridge Street

http://attaboy.us

The Blind Barber

Barbershop by day and bar by night, The Blind Barber is a nondescript bar in the space’s back lounge.

Their menu features loads of specialty and curated cocktails and you can either chill out at the back, or hang out in front of the DJ booth if you’re feeling more energetic.

Location: 339 East 10th Street

Pick and choose from the best places to go for a night out that appeal most to you. You’re sure to have the best adventure around New York!

The next time you visit, you may come up with your own recommendations! And, we’d love to hear them!

Patent Pending: One of our favorite speakeasy bars in NYC

Nightlife Bars Patent Pending Speakeasy Bars in NYC Full Bar

Patent Pending is truly one of our favorite speakeasy bars in NYC. It’s hidden behind a fake wall, inside a small Nomad coffee shop in Manhattan! As they say: “Paying homage to thinking outside the box.”

Hidden behind a fake wall, inside a tiny coffee shop in the heart Manhattan, Patent Pending has one of our favorite speakeasy bars in NYC. And, with one of the most creative cocktail menus in town!

See our short and fun IGTV!

The specific neighborhood is Nomad and it’s housed inside the famous Radio Wave Building, a historical landmark in NYC. The building gets its name from the years that the world-famous inventor and engineer, Nikola Tesla, lived there.

During the day, you’ll just see a normal NYC coffee spot in action, called Patent Café. But, by night, the secret comes to life!

When you find the entrance, type 4-9-2-7 # so that the host opens the glass doors for you.

There are no lights when you walk inside and the coffee shop is closed, but just risk it and you’ll be fine! Ha!

As you walk down a few steps, it all seems odd, since there is no visual sign of a bar and it’s a bit dark. Unfortunately, they don’t accept reservations, so be sure to go early, otherwise you might just end up waiting for quite some time – over 1 hour!

When the time comes of you to enter, the host will lift the countertop and spread open a sliding door that leads to this beautiful, underground, dim lit bar…

…and the door closes behind you.

The place is quite small with only a couple tables, and the bar area is obviously always our preference to sit.

They just added 4 new Fall drinks to their menu, so we decided to go and try them.

Their names?

  1. Illuminated Manhattan: With Campfire Whiskey, Aged Rum, Scotch, Madeira…smokey, chocolatey, smooth;
  2. Emulating Edison: Their take on a traditional Mulled Wine…warm, spiced and silk;
  3. Static Pet Theory: Genever, Shochu, Islay Single Malt, Tomatillo, Egg White and Umami…smooth and savory;
  4. Flash of Inspiration: Roasted Corn Mezcal, Sherry, Islay Single Malt, Smoked Maple Syrup, Green Hatch and Chipotle…spicy, smokey and tart!

Cool, right?

We obviously also had some of their classics as well! And, if you get hungry, they have a few small bites, and even a vegan sandwich option. I tried it and it was delicious!

The spot is always full, but it’s definitely worth the wait!

Have fun and let us know what you thought of it!

More about the Radio Wave Building:

“This is the building in which Nikola Tesla lived and performed his experiments on radio waves, transmitting them to his laboratory near present day Trinity Church in downtown Manhattan.

The ‘waves’ which guided you here (GPS) and surround you now (WiFi) were envisioned by Tesla more than a century ago.  Born during a lightning storm, Nikola Tesla was a child of light.

An immigrant, an innovator and a patriot, Tesla dreamed of a world which few others could imagine. He was an eccentric genius, an ‘Electric Messiah’.

We toast to him and the countless others that think outside the box, persevering against all odds.”

New Yorkers are all about creativity and searching for unique things to do in the city. We all know that summertime in New York is the best time of the year where businesses get creative to attract you into their “homes”.

In addition, we also know how quick summer can pass by, so you should definitely take advantage of everything that’s going on: from unique experiences like jet skiing in the Hudson River, the best rooftop screenings and open door helicopter tours to get pictures of NY from above!

All of that is truly amazing, but today we want to talk about New York’s nightlife! We aren’t the biggest party peeps around, I have to confess, but we do enjoy exploring some of the best hidden cocktail bars in New York.

You’ll find great bars in so many different parts of New York but, have you ever been to a hidden cocktail bar high up in the sky? Yup, that’s exactly what you read!

The Water Tower Bar, located on the very top of The Williamsburg Hotel has one of the coolest bars you can visit. Why? Well, they literally built an intimate space inside a water tower with probably one of the most amazing skylines views of Manhattan!

Just to start off, it’s a pretty interesting walk up! You have to climb quite a few steps…up and up and up, until you get there.

The bar is not a big, making every night an opportunity to actually meet new people and interact with everyone there. The super high ceiling gives us air to breath, combined with the huge floor-to-ceiling windows offering the priceless view I spoke about!

Rael Petit, the expert mixologist of the house, has done some serious work on these cocktails. And, we can say, he really knows what he’s doing! So, lucky us to have found this spot! Actually, lucky everyone!

We decided to try 3 of their most famous drinks to share with you our thoughts! And, bottom line, they were all AMAZING! Plus, the names are all pretty cool too!

This is what we had:

  • Message in the Bottle: Bacardi 4yr, Clarified Milk Punch, Chinese Cinnamon Cordial, Blue Majik Pineapple Juice and Lemon
  • Big Poppa: Hendricks, St. Germain, Thyme Corial, Egg White, Lemon Juice and Angostura Bitters
  • Blue Jeans: Empress Gin, Salers, Velvet Falernum and Dolin Blanc

And, if we could, we’d just continue on tasting the entire cocktail menu!

We just ordered a small dish with mozzarella cheese to eat before. They do have a few options if you get a bit hungry.

The night we visited was on a Thursday. We had the pleasure of listening to a great reggae Brooklyn-based band that got everyone on the dance floor. The band is called Sundub and the singer is called Joanna Teters. Her voice is really fantastic!! Other nights, they have some of the top DJs in town doing some serious music too!

So, now it your turn to go there, try their cocktails and dance a bit! Don’t forget to get some priceless pictures of Manhattan’s skyline!

If you enjoy these posts and finding the next best NYC Cocktail Bar, take a look at some speakeasies we love.
