Most Different Museum in New York Of All Times: Museum of Illusions

Entertainment Culture Music Museum of Illusions Fernanda Paronetto

I recently visited maybe the most different museum in New York of all times, the Museum of Illusions! The eye-tricking illusions were super fun and extremely curious!

When we think about museums, most people immediately think about the big, famous ones like the Metropolitan Museum of Art (MET), MoMA, the Whitney and so many others. If you’ve been with us for a while, some other off-the-beaten-track museums might also come to your mind!

But, a few weeks back, I found one maybe the most different museum in New York of all times: the Museum of Illusions.

Originally from Zagreb, Croatia, they are quite famous is other corners of the world, like in Austria and Slovenia. On September 20th, they finally landed in town and are creating quite a buzz, after all, optical illusions are quite fun to experience, don’t you agree?

That same week, I met with René Gjoni, the CEO of the museum, that was super kind to walk me through the all the installments and illusions. After that, I just HAD to go back and get it on camera for your guys to see!

“Visitors can learn a lot about vision, perception, the human brain and science through our attractive and fun exhibits. In that way, they also learn why our eyes see things that our brain does not understand.”

This fantastic interactive museum, located one of 14th Street’s busy corners, offers over 70 different activities visitors can experience. They are all based on science, math, biology and phycology, but in real life, they are extremely fun and curious! Many are quite simple after we find how they work but, I have to agree that creating them can be certainly challenging.

I passed through absolutely all the illusion and love them all, but the ones that I probably enjoyed the most were:

  • Rotated Room – Are you ready to radically change your view of the world? How about for 90 degrees? In this room you can walk on the ceiling. Your imagination is the limit!
  • Tricky Stick – This exhibit plays with your sense of space. The human brain will automatically suppose that the stick will not fit through the hole;
  • Moving Picture – As you move, the image seems to swivel and follow you. Three-dimensional paintings when viewed from the front initially give the impression of viewing a painted flat surface that shows a perspective view;
  • Swap Noses – You can switch different parts of your faces if both of you, at the same me, move up and down;
  • True Mirror –  We might think we see ourselves in traditional mirrors, but although they appear to show us how we look, in fact they reflect images that are sign significantly altered by being backwards. Step towards the True Mirror, which enables us to see ourselves as others see us!
  • Tilted Room – Try to walk slowly in the ‘Tilted Room’. Can you do it well? It may feel wobbly and difficult to walk in here.

In addition, there are a few exclusive illusions that are only seen in New York City:

  • Thermal Grill – The thermal grill illusion is a sensory illusion. When someone presses a hand against the grill, he or she experiences the illusion of burning heat;
  • Following Eyes – The following eyes are an optical illusion in which the perception of hollow concave eyes look like normal convex eyes. If you stare at them and walk left and right – they seem to follow you around;
  • Zoetrope – A zoetrope is a device that produces the illusion of motion from a rapid succession of static pictures.  This variation uses a rapidly flashing strobe light to illuminate the models, producing an illusion of motion.

So, I can say it’s a place to visit with kids, friends of all ages, family! It’s really entertaining, fun and that will give you countless reasons to laugh! And, you’ll be able to take some of the coolest pictures, and share them on all your Social Channels for your friends to see! I guarantee, it’s will go viral!

Have fun in the Museum of Illusions and share your experience with us: #BehindTheScenesNYC and #MuseumOfIllusionsNewYork!

How To Enjoy NYC With Kids, Outdoors!

Yes, New York is a great city for kids, so don’t worry! See below how to enjoy NYC with kids, outdoors seamlessly and have tons of fun and stories to tell!

Don’t believe people that say differently. The city is full of amazing attractions and activities for kids of all ages and we will show you what we mean!

Before we became parents, we spent countless weekends in New York City, staying out late, enjoying nice dinners, and partying at the best bars and nightclubs.

After our son was born, we realized that traveling to the Big Apple needed to change. We replaced our original itinerary with activities that were fun for the whole family.

Despite the skyscrapers, congested traffic and throngs of tourists, New York City has secluded pockets that give the kids room to play. It is possible to enjoy the great outdoors in Manhattan.

Park It

At 840 acres, Central Park is the hub for outdoor-loving families. You can rent bicycles and explore the paved trails, enjoy rides on the carousel, and try horseback riding through the park’s highlights.

This is not a just a stop for tourists – the entire park is also teaming with New Yorkers who appreciate the best of New York’s great outdoors!

We love Sheep Meadow, near the famed Tavern on the Green restaurant. It’s great for kids because of its wide open space (15 acres), kite flying, room to play catch, and loads of families.

Shop a local market and bring a picnic, or let experts cater one for you, and make a full day of sitting under the trees; the museums will still be there tomorrow. Even in the winter, you can use the park for ice skating, cross country skiing and sledding.

You can also visit waterfront parks along the Hudson and the East River, providing great views, cool breezes and lots of fresh air. We love Hudson River Park for its play areas with water features on hot, summer days.

Our son can spend hours playing in the splash park, and you’ll find mini golf and sports fields and courts for older kids to get their play on.

See the City from the Water

Surrounded by water – Manhattan is an island, after all – spend time on the rivers. Kayak rentals are available for the families with older kids, and you can set sail on leisure ships for an hour or two of sightseeing.

There are also some pretty cool jet ski rides up and down the Hudson, as well as around the entire island!

The Staten Island Ferry is a great way to see New York’s skyline from the Hudson – and it’s FREE!

Or, if you want to splurge, you can charter a private cruise on a small sailboat.

You can also catch the ferry to the Statue of Liberty. She stands on an island that is a national park. No need to climb to the top, just enjoy the views while your toddler plays. (This is also another great picnic spot!).

If you’ve never been to Ellis Island, it’s also a great spot, with some pretty exclusive tours.

If you’re willing to travel further, cross into New Jersey to Liberty State Park and you’ll find even more space to enjoy. Playgrounds, a boardwalk with viewfinders, and picnic tables all overlook Manhattan.

Enjoy Outdoor Attractions

Curiosities Our Bucket Lists How To Enjoy NYC With Kids Outdoors Highline
Walking the Highline [Photo Credit: Courtesy of The 2 Idiots Travel Blog]
Many of New York’s best attractions will get you outdoors, such as the Central Park Zoo and the New York Botanical Garden. The Gardens offer special activities and event for young kids and is a special treat – NY Botanical Garden and the Brooklyn Botanical Garden.

Or, grab your stroller and take a walk along the High Line, which stretches over a mile on an old rail line. You can take a trip to Roosevelt Island with a ride on the Roosevelt Tram providing a fun ride and cool views before you take in the skyline from the East River-based island.

Even grabbing a bite under the sun is easy to do in New York. Take advantage of the many restaurants that have rooftop dining or secret patios. You’ll be surprised how much of the city can be enjoyed in the open air. Try Birreria, the rooftop of Eataly’s grocery and market or ‘wichcraft for sandwiches, both in the Flatiron District.

And, because New York’s diverse neighborhoods offer safe playgrounds for the kids whho live close by, seek out AirBnBs or boutique hotels near a small park. It makes for a good start to your day to grab coffee and muffins for breakfast in a nearby park, as well as a relaxing end to a long day of sightseeing.

When you leave New York and download all of your photos, we bet you’ll be surprised by how many of them were taken outdoors and away from crowds. You might not even think they were taken in the city!

Oh! Wait! You’re they type that doesn’t take pictures, but always regret it after?

You might want a professional photographer that will seamlessly be with you during the day, capturing the most amazing, spontaneous moments! You’ll not even notice!

Have fun and be sure to tell your other friends how to enjoy NYC with kids! We are sure you’ll be back for more!

VR World NYC: A Virtual Reality Experience

Culture Music VR World NYC

As we wake up each day, Virtual Reality is becoming more and more parts of our daily lives, and obviously, our future! Come explore what VR World NYC is all about!

As we wake up each day, Virtual Reality, or VR as we most commonly say, is becoming more and more parts of our daily lives, and obviously, our future!

Today I’m sharing with you my experience at VR World NYC. They are the biggest virtual reality center on this side of the globe with 2 floors and over 50 games, films and experiences for you to try!

The video above shows you some of the ones I have the most fun with, but I do have to say, they are all quite entertaining. You can definitely spend several hours there, since there is just so much to see.

So, what is Virtual Reality?

In a very simples way, it’s an interactive technology that is computer generated and creates experiences that are not possible in the real world, using many of our senses.

And, in the middle of New York’s chaotic 34th Street, you’d never expect to find a place like this. It’s not only super amusing for kids and I’m sure all adults will love it too! I certainly had a great time!

Oh! It’s also a great spot to host a party! There are several cool spaces for groups from 20 and over 400! So be sure to contact them for more details. You can also contact us to help you out or even organize a corporate/team experience.

One of the highlights: Moveo

You can me inside this one in the video! It’s the first 360º free-rotation VR simulator. You go through fully immersive 3D worlds, flying through space and you experience the gravitational pull of objects nearby.

Exclusive to VR World NYC, MOVEO is harnessing cutting edge technology to create a truly immersive experience.

The simulator is the first of its kind to use independent three axis rotation, connecting the human experience with a responsive audial, visual and physical environment.

I also really enjoyed the experiences on the 2nd floor, once specifically that I was rock climbing in Thailand. It was just SO real. My legs literally got numb by virtually climbing up a cliff and looking down!

It’s crazy how you literally feel everything as if you were actually there!

As I said above, it’s a great place for kids! But, if you’re coming to New York City with kids, but you’re not sure if it’s a good idea, take a look to see all the infinite reasons why NYC is great for kids!

Motorino Pizzeria: An Authentic Taste Of Naples Outside Italy

Dining Motorino Pizza Oven Credit Nick Solares for Motorino

Motorino offers a large variety of delicious pizzas on its menu, besides other dishes aside from pizza. Clams, meatballs, salads… When I went there I wanted try the Napoletana pizza style. Like that proverb says: “When in Rome do as the Romans do”. In this case we’d switch Rome for Naples and have an authentic taste of Naples outside Italy.

I love pizza! I suppose you do, too. The Upper West Side is one of my favorite neighborhoods in the city and I truly enjoy to hang out there. One day, after running some errands I got really hungry. I decided to look for a cool spot to have a nice meal. That was when I saw a place with a small line outside that intrigued me. I looked inside and it was small, but it was also cozy and inviting. “I’m gonna have pizza for lunch today”, I thought to myself.

As soon as I walked inside Motorino I was greeted. The décor was simple with some frames on the wall, marble tables, steel chairs. Pretty simple, yet comfortable. A highlight was the brick-oven. Brick-oven pizzas are the best, in my opinion, and at Motorino all doughs are baked in house. I noticed the guests were really diverse. Some were alone, other in couples, while some had children. It’s definitely a family-friendly place.

The venue offers a large variety of delicious pizzas, but you can find other dishes besides pizza, as well. Clams, meatballs, salads… I was craving to try their Napoletana pizza style. As the proverb says: “When in Rome do as the Romans do”. In this case, we’d switch Rome for Naples…

After a while trying to pick the best option to kill my hunger, I ordered a traditional Margherita.

It’s made with both Pecorino and Mozzarella cheeses. The crust was terrific and the sauce very tasty and balanced. It was cut into 4 regular slices. So, depending on how hungry you are you could eat it alone or share with a friend. I was able to eat 3 slices that day and I took the leftover home, of course. It was delicious! I didn’t have alcohol, but they have a decent selection of beers and wine to pair. I knew it wouldn’t be long until I’d come back …and I did.

A month later I returned with my roommate. This time I ordered the Soppressata Piccante. Soppressata is an Italian dry salami and it’s picante (aka spicy) because the pizza comes with chili flakes on it. I was really anxious to check how that combination would come out. Result: I loved it! I shared it with my roomie that loved it too. The Napoletana style pizza was approved! Yum! To finish the meal in style, we ordered Tiramisu for desert. Fantastic! I love Italian food in general and Motorino really knows how to prepare them.

If you don’t live close enough to the Upper West Side or that neighborhood is simply not your cup of tea, Motorino has 2 more locations across town – a 2nd in Manhattan and one in Brooklyn.

If you’re craving great, traditional Italian pizza, give it a shot and share with us what you chose from the menu.

Have You Heard Of The Celebrities’ Secret Town in New York?

Day Trips and Travel Sag Harbor Main Street Fernanda Paronetto

Have you heard of the celebrities’ secret town in New York? Sag Harbor is a charming village in Long Island that dates back to the early 1700’s. It’s a great place to explore over the weekend!

I always tell people about how beautiful the state of New York is and, to prove how amazing day trips or weekend experiences can be, I picked one of my favorite spots to show you!

Sag Harbor is a charming village in Long Island that dates back to the yearly 1700’s. It was considered the 2nd most important seaport, after New York City, of course and was known as a thriving whaling port from 1760 through 1850.

It’s close the to the North Fork, where we recently did a video at an amazing winery called Macari Vineyards and saw one of the biggest wine bottles I had ever seen! Obs: It’s another great place for a weekend adventure!

Anyway, Sag Harbor it one of my favorite spots and “Yes!”, celebrities love it too! It’s the celebrities’ secret town in New York, that they head to when they want to get away from everything and everyone. Sorry celebs! Busted!

I chose a few spots in town to share and help you with your itinerary, while you’re there. But, there is just so much to do that I’m sure you’ll be able to explore on your own and find out other great places!

I do recommend to go for, at least, a weekend, but you can also risk a day trip! Last case, you can just book last minute a room at one of their beautiful hotels.

Oh! And before you start, be sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel and spread the love for New York!

Main Street

Day Trips and Travel Sag Harbor Main Street Fernanda Paronetto

Sag Harbor’s Main Street is so charming that you can literally spend a few hours just walking up and down.

You’ll have a great time exploring all the local shops, design stores, gift shops, great restaurants, salons, book stores – like Harbor Books on the picture above, cafés, donut shops, and so much more!

I couldn’t stop walking into every single venue I found and even the local market I walked in to find fresh and delicious goodies that are not always easy to find in the city!

The architecture really resembles those cute port towns from centuries ago and everything is super well preserved.

It’s a great place not only for family and kids, but also friends, couples, elderlies. There is a place for everyone to enjoy the beauty of the little town!

I mean, it’s got something for everyone!

Baron’s Cove

Day Trips and Travel Sag Harbor Barons Cove Hotel Pool

As I said in the video, Sag Harbor has many great hotels to stay, but this time I chose to share Baron’s Cove.

We’ve featured them before and I really love the property! They are a 4-star waterfront hotel with 67 rooms and fantastic amenities.

There are rooms with private garden terraces, harbor loft suites with balconies, village rooms as well as dog-friendly rooms – so your canine friend is super welcome!

You’ll find countless activities to try, like the heated saltwater pool, tennis court, gym, spa services, summer BBQs and lobster bakes, fireplace during winter, etc. And still, complimentary beach service with transportation, beach picnic lunch options, as well as an onsite concierge! Can’t get any better!

In addition, Baron’s Cove is also the only venue in Sag Harbor featuring live entertainment every night during the summer season. So, there is always something fun going on!

Famous artists, musicians, literary names such as Jackson Pollock, Billy Joel and Truman Capote have been regular guests, back in the days! Pretty awesome, right?

Their restaurant serves all-American food and has a fantastic and privileged view of the marina, that is just across the road.

It’s location is very convenient and it’s just a few minutes walking from Main Street!

Even though it can get quite chilly during the winter, it’s great to go with a loved one, or friends to enjoy a peaceful weekend. So yes! It’s a great place to go any time of the year!

I love Italian restaurants, so I decided to feature one of the best gems in town: Dopo La Spiaggia.

All restauranteurs, foodies, celebrities and the gorgeous crowd in town are always there enjoying their delicious dishes and drinks!

Owned by Chef Maurizio Marfoglia – that was super kind to meet us at the restaurant – has created a fantastic, seasonal menu with a variety of local ingredients. All very, very fresh!

The sun was out, so we decided to sit at the charming outdoor patio, with another great view of the marina. The patio has a cozy environment, with tables set close together and a breathtaking green wall from end to end!

Menus are updated regularly, and time time we chose two dishes to try:

  • Tagliolini – squid ink pasta, bay scallops, shrimp, calamari, chili and tomato. Note: it does have a spicy kick!
  • Branzino – poached sea bass, tomatoes, spinach with white wine.

Of course, both dishes paired with fantastic wine – one white, one red! As Italians say: Perffeto!

I’ve also heard from friends that other dishes are also must-haves, like the super creamy burrata, the homemade ravioli is perfectly done with wild mushrooms, ricotta cheese, vidallia and crushed tomato sauce. Plus, all sea dishes are very tasty and well-served.

Ah! Dessert, yes! You can try their stellar tiramisu and the berry tart with crème Anglaise. The portions are good to share, in case you were curious!

Buon Appetito!

Last, but surely not least, we finished the day at The Buddha Berry, a dessert spot to satisfy your sweet tooth!

The spot is loved by everyone in town! They not only sell self-serve frozen yogurts, but also crêpes, waffles and still have a coffee bar, with organic coffee!

They’ve recently started serving vegan yogurt with almond milk and natural ingredients, which had been a huge success!

Of course, I decided to try their famous frozen yogurt. Nancy, the owner, sources countless toppings from all over the world and brings them to her delicious store. There are so many options that it was actually quite hard to pick and choose the ones I wanted. I mean, I wanted to serve myself a bit of each one! Lol!

I’m sure you’re going to have one of the best weekends away from the city and will want to come back again, and again, and again!

Atlantic Terrace is a standard beach hotel located on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean, at the East end of the Montauk’s beach hotel strip. It’s just an easy walk to Montauk Village, where you can find countless restaurants and local stores. “Nothing between you and the sand”, like they say!

Fall was starting and I hadn’t enjoyed the sun that much during the summer time. And, thankfully the sun was still shining, so why not go to the beach? My friend suggested a trip to the Hamptons!

We didn’t have any hotel in mind so we “googled” it. For 3 days we researched websites and exchanging e-mails. We finally decided to stay at a hotel in Montauk instead of in the central part of the Hamptons. It’s more rustic and a little bit cheaper. Among all choices we had, we picked an upper ocean view quad at the Atlantic Terrace Hotel. This hotel offers numerous amenities and activities and it was just what I was looking for.

That being said, let’s get straight to the point:

Atlantic Terrace is a standard beach hotel located on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean, at the East end of the Montauk Beach hotel strip. It’s just an easy walk to Montauk Village, where you can find countless restaurants and great local stores. One of the highlights is getting to the beach through the wooden stairs. It’s amazing. Wild and fancy at the same time. “Nothing between you and the sand”, like they enjoy saying!

The hotel has around 100 rooms from standard to beachfront suites, all with balconies. The rooms are decorated in grey and white colors, with a kitchenette where you’ll find a sink, coffee maker, a small fridge, etc…

Breakfast is not included, but they have the A.T. Eatery – a full service kitchen serving breakfast and lunch. Managed by chef Robert Prado, the Eatery provides you with everything from classic sandwiches to more sophisticated dishes. All beach-friendly too. A.T. Eatery is open every day from 7am – 6pm and you can find the menu on the website.

However, you can also prepare something for yourself in the room and enjoy it on the cozy benches at the balcony.

The Atlantic Hotel offers a variety of outdoors activities such as backyard games, picnic areas, live music (seasonal), bonfires, etc.

You can also book surf and paddle board lessons. Plus, if you’re into yoga, you can head to the swimming pool area in the morning and get ready for their free class! Classes depend on the weather, but you can check details at the reception. Their classes are quite famous around there.

If you enjoy shopping, the hotel also has a small boutique to entertain you. NIBI MTK is a beachwear store by the designer Kristin Sheeler. “Nibi” means water in the original language people used to speak in the village of Montauk. You’ll also be able to find some vintage pieces and accessories.

In addition, the hotel also provides wifi, laundry facilities, a gym and a lounge with a ping-pong table and arcade games. Furthermore, you’ll find eco-friendly bath amenities and 300-thread count Frette bedding.

We loved the weekend and the beautiful nature views we could enjoy from our own balcony.

In sum, we had a great time in the town and was impressed with all the amenities the hotel provided. Of course, the staff was very friendly and getting to the beach through the super cute staircase, was definitely one of the coolest things.

I’m definitely going back there, next summer, with more friends! Hope to see you there too. Let us know about your plans and if you need any help in organizing this trip! For corporate requests for your team or clients, contact our experts.

Note: The hotel closes during off season, so be sure to send them an email and stay up to date with the upcoming season!

Candytopia: A Golden Ticket To A Sugar Rush Adventure

Culture Music Candytopia New York City Entrance

Candytopia is a multi-environment exhibit that will make your inner kid rejoice out of the perfect combination of colors and flavors from your favorites candies. Bring your sweet tooth for a journey like no other!

Culture Music Candytopia New York City Magdalena Concha

We asked our contributor, Magdalena Concha – also known as Mags – to check out what Candytopia was all about. She had a fantastic experience at a exhibit that has been attracting not only kids, but grown ups in New York!

Our Founder, , recently went to the Color Factory. Super worth going too! Both are similar, but yet so different! So, since it’s hard to pick one, just go to both!

Is there a better way to start your day than visiting a place that mixes art, candy and lots of imagination? Well, a few days back I went to check out Candytopia, aka, candy land, aka dream come true.

Candytopia is a pop-up installation that shows the vision of Hollywood Candy Queen Jackie Sorkin, Candy Master Fabricator Zac Hartog, CEO of ZH Productions, and retail veteran John Goodman.

Culture Music Candytopia New York City

Following a successful run in Santa Monica earlier this year, Candytopia comes for the first time to New York City to show a one-of-a-kind full sensory experience of a magic wonderland that combines colors and flavors using only sugary delights. Everything can be enjoyed through a series of interactive art installations.

Welcome to Candytopia, where colossal candyfloss constructions meld with a tantalizing taffy twistedness!

The “immersive candy-coated experiential adventure” is perfect for “anyone who’s ever dreamed of scoring a Golden Ticket or nibbling their way through Candyland.”

As a candy lover, I can guarantee you that this is as close as you can get to Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory and Hansel & Gretel candy house – minus the witch of course. From the moment you cross Candytopia’s fence and enter their amazing world, you want to touch and try everything in the rooms.

The best part of all … that is actually a requirement! Touch! Taste! See! Smell! Listen!

You will be able to try delicious sweet treats throughout the entire experience including gummies, chocolate, nostalgic favorites, and many sweet surprises! Just remember your Halloween manners and take only a few of them.

In addition, if you want to impress your social media followers and share your best candy-colored pictures, remember to get the QR code at the entrance of the installation. It will allow you to take pictures from the different cameras installed at the most iconic areas of the exhibit. So, pictures will be send directly to your email, don’t worry!

We won’t tell you everything you’ll see, but here is a short sneak peek to tickle your curiosity!

Culture Music Candytopia New York City Famous PaintingsThe experience starts with Zig Zog’s Clocks & Collectibles where the sound of clocks ticking will make you feel anxious, just like the White Rabbit of Alice in Wonderland, for being late to try all the candy that awaits.

Along the way you will also encounter a dive pool of (fake) marshmallows, a rendition of the most iconic pieces of art like the Mona Lisa and Van Gogh’s Starry Night.

Be sure to take a picture with the recreated sculpture of our Lady Liberty. In addition, you’ll find an underwater-themed room filled with jewel-toned, candy covered sea creatures. And, of course, tons of opportunities to take the best pictures and selfies covered by colorful confetti.

Furthermore, the effort put into every piece is describe through “Candy Facts”. They tell you exactly the type of candy that was used, the candy count, construction time and amount of sugar in it. Super cool!

I.e., the candy version of Warhol’s Marylyn portrait was made out of 3,800 candies including gummy bears and jelly beans, took more than 82 hours and it has 1,500kgs of sugar. Pretty amazing, isn’t it?

Sorkin won’t say what the base material is—she needs to keep some cards to herself—but some of the creations took upwards of 1,000 hours.

Every True New Yorker Wears Hats by Teressa Foglia

Shop Ladies and Gents Teressa Foglia Hats Fernanda Paronetto

A true New Yorker loves hats, but not any type of hat! It has to be stylish, extremely well made and, preferably, custom made! Teressa Foglia’s atelier in Industry City is the perfect place to find them and later show them off around the streets of New York!

I always say that one of the best ways to identify the true New Yorkers around the city is to look for people that are wearing hats! New Yorkers love hats and are pretty stylish and bold regarding how to use it and how to incorporate them into their daily lives.

I’ve been accompanying the work of a fantastic hat designer and maker called Teressa Foglia. As she explains it, she’s a modern milliner – “a person who designs, makes, sells or trims hats primarily for a female clientele”.

In December of 2017, Teressa opened the first “Teressa Foglia Hat Studio + Shop” in Industry City – one of Brooklyn’s upcoming neighborhoods. There, you’re able to shop her fantastic collections, meet for your custom hat fitting, and even join them for a hat making workshop.

And still, if you’re a business, it’s a great space to host an event and even feature your independent brand products.

Well, I was pretty curious to learn more about how it all started, where her passion came from, what types of hats she sells, which are the best sellers, how they are actually done and also, I wanted to see if I’d find the perfect one for me! “Spoiler alert”, I did! Wuhu!

Teressa told me that she has always loved hats and wore them from a very young age, but started wearing them more frequently as an adult.

She had an episode in her life of a heartbreak so, back then, decided to change scenes a bit and bought a one-way plane ticket to Europe.

Destiny ended up taking her to the South of France, where she booked a last minute millinery course. She barely made it to actually booking and being part of what would change her life.

This course took her to London, to make hats with a renowned milliner and eventually ended up in other cities like Berlin and Los Angeles, always designing and making hats.

She travelled the world to over 35 countries collecting ideas, inspirations and life experiences that would all be used in the near future and finally make sense all together.

“Life is colorful, boundary less and filled with moments encapsulated by, “you had to be there to believe it”. So, be there. Buy the plane ticket. Break the rules. Life is your own masterpiece; a canvas that spans the globe. After all, nothing fun happens while drawing inside the lines.”

So, life ended up bringing her back to New York and it was when she actually launched her 1st collection.

Today, her hats are mostly one-of-a-kind. She customizes according to her client’s desires and style, making sure each and every single person leaves her atelier completely satisfied and counting the minutes to wear their new hat! She creates has for men, women, kids & babies, custom and ready to wear!

If you have no idea on what hat you want, Teressa can guide you through the process, starting very simply by deciding what material you want: felt or straw? Remember: straws have infinite options!

Now, a tip to the Coachella girls out there: Teressa is the creative mind and hands behind some of the coolest hats that you’ve seen at the festival. So, your search days for finding out where that cool NY gal got her hat are over!

Oh! And like I mentioned above, for the moms out there, she just recently launched her Kids & Babies Line! There is nothing more adorable than cute, stylish kids wearing hats, right?

So, be sure to swing by and take the day to explore all the other amazing businesses also located inside the buildings of Industry City. You’ll find everything from a sake on tap bar, chocolate stores, coffee shops, design shops, a great food hall and so much more!

Enjoy exploring this “unexplored” part of Brooklyn and also, check out other fantastic places to shop for Ladies and Gents and style up your new Teressa Foglia hat!

Hours: Daily 12pm – 6pm, but always best to contact prior to visiting.

Location: Industry City, Building 5 – 51 35th Street
