The neighborhood of Astoria is a great place to venture out and explore. We always say we get crazy when people visit New York and get stuck inside Manhattan. There’s a world to explore out of the island!

The Museum of Moving Image explains what they do:

“The Museum advances the understanding, enjoyment, and appreciation of the art, history, technique, and technology of film, television, and digital media by presenting exhibitions, education programs, significant moving-image works, interpretive programs, collecting and preserving moving-image related artifacts.

They have amazing exhibitions during the year! You can expect over 400 movie screenings, public discussions with creative professionals and their core exhibition with a behind the scenes view of the creative process involved in the piece.

Also, the changing exhibitions presents installations, videos, live events, educational programs, an amazing collection of artifacts related to the art, history, and technology.

Lastly, they have online projects presenting groundbreaking exhibitions.

The museum was fortunate to pass through a massive expansion in early 2011. It literally doubled it’s size and became even more beautiful.

We always have reading reaching out asking what they should do with small kids and teens.

Well, this is a fantastic option if you want to entertain them! Plus, you can explore a little bit of Queens, while there!

You’re actually not that far into Queens, so on your way back, you can pass through the famous MoMA PS1. If you are over 21, you can attend their PS1 Sunday Session parties, that happens only during the summer.

Big Mozz: Fresh Hand-Pulled Mozzarella Makes You Beg For More

Shop Specialties Big Mozz Smorgasburg Brooklyn

A while ago, we did something different and adventured ourselves into the touristy Smorgasburg in Brooklyn, and gladly discovered Big Mozz. Their fresh hand-pulled mozzarella is to-die-for!

Even though many people know about Smorgasburg, and yes, it’s quite a touristy spot, believe it not not, many others have never heard of it.

Yes, it’s super crowded, but we know that every time we risk ourselves in the ocean of tourists (and locals too), we always find something new to share! There are countless amazing vendors that sell their products there, and many eventually succeed to the point of opening one or more brick & mortar locations.

You don’t believe us? Well, Wowfulls is a perfect example of this. We met them at Smorgasburg and now, they have a super cool spot in the Lower East Side.

So, we’re writing this post because we actually did discover a new supplier that we simply loved this last time we were there! Not only their product is literally to-die-for, but the name is also great: Big Mozz (a.k.a. Mozzarella)!

One of the owners, Elliott Anderson, told us that The Atlantic Ave Co. started off selling delicious and tasty red sauces. All product have “no preservatives, no tomato paste, and no added sugar, ever”. Their new venture is Big Mozz, with amazing fresh hand-pulled mozzarella!!!

We are vegetarians, so we couldn’t say no to trying one of their creations, right?

Elliott was actually doing a delicious freshly-pulled mozzarella while telling us their story! So cool.

The process is amazing and they also offer classes, teaching professionals and aspiring chef the “How To’s” to stretching and making the perfect mozzarella ball. The idea is: you learn, you stretch and you dine!

“Big Mozz hand-stretches fresh mozzarella cheese, sourced locally from Caputo Brothers Creamery in York, PA. We are a local NYC startup, and our team was selected to Zagat’s 30 Under 30 list for 2015.

Our stretching class is the perfect way to learn the art of cheese making while enjoying delicious appetizers from our catering menu, and lots of wine.”

In addition, they also offer catering, which will leave all your guests breathless with their food! The Mozzarella Sticks are some of the best sellers, leaving guests wanting more.

Thank you Elliott and Matt for the amazing gastronomic experience! Your fresh hand-pulled mozzarella deserves every award it’s received! We are your newest fans!

During our crazy NYC lives, you may want some additional help to organize your upcoming private event. Contact our experts to see how they can make your life easier!

For Corporate events and activities, our team is fully prepared to cater to all your needs. Let us know what you need.

NYC Spa Week: Not A Secret, But One Of NYC’s Best Wellness Events

Fitness Health NYC Spa Week Gisele Bundchen by Steven Meisel for Vogue 2013

This is definitely not a secret, but the NYC Spa Week happens twice a year. It’s a great opportunity to try the numerous treatments, in the various spas, around the five boroughs.

NYC Spa Week was founded by Cheryl Reid, she explains why and how this idea started:

“Living in New York is not always as easy or glamorous as it sounds. I guess that’s why they say, “if you can make it here, you can make it anywhere.” While the constant hustle and bustle of our metropolis can be exciting, some days a one mile commute can take 45 minutes.

Everyone in New York moves in a hurried, frenzied, impersonal manner — one that is both stressful and draining. One evening I began brainstorming how to create an event that would educate exhausted New Yorkers about the benefits of the spa & wellness lifestyle while offering them an affordable way to experience it.

I also needed to figure out a cost-effective way to drive this new clientele into the day spa market. With these components recognized, the light bulb went off, and the Spa Week Brand was born.”

So, in 2004, NYC Spa Week launched their first edition.

The idea of offering to everyone the possibility of relaxing and having some down time to unwind, at a reasonable cost is amazing.

We all know that New York’s beauty scene can be quite expensive, so having the best spas around the city offering treatments at $50, is fantastic!

They started off their first year with only 25 venues participating, but each year, grew as it became more popular and recognized.

Today, Spa Week has become a National brand, with events happening all over the country. Now, you are able to experience some of the top players in the wellness industry. Plus, you can focus and dedicate time for your well-being.

Each year, in New York City, there are over 100 salons and spas participating in this special week. They all offer a wide number of treatments at this special, discounted rate.

The best thing is, many of these treatments are offered in super high-end and luxurious spas around town.

Keep your eyes opened for their 2016 event! All bookings cane be made online.

Here are two spas that we adore: Aire Ancient Baths in TriBeCa and Body by Brooklyn in Clinton Hill. We have even organized unique experiences for corporate groups coming from overseas and they had a fantastic time.
