Connor and Lu

Lu is a sci-fi-loving Brazilian film geek turned “mad woman” in the New York advertising industry. Connor is a long-haired grunge musician turned tech business guy (hence the inevitable haircut). Even though they have secret identities – some may call them ‘day jobs’ – their true obsession lies in writing and playing music together.

Sounds intriguing, right?!

With over 500 alluring and extraordinary show a year, these outstanding minds are ‘fascinated by the human condition and create performances that speak about our world and our time’.

They are now in NYC, with a spectacle called: Cuisine & Confessions.

Here’s what it’s all about:

“As individuals, we are ourselves composed of ingredients, a unique recipe of blood memories. The Kitchen. Blood memories. A recipe passed through generations. A memory so deeply embedded in our conscious, it takes carefully concocted smells and tastes to bring it to the surface.

Storytelling through food… this is the sweet taste of my childhood, of a summer breeze through a screen door. Or the hot-chocolate-dampened lips of a first kiss. Life happens in the kitchen. Late night confessionals over tisane and a pot of Nutella. Elaborately choreographed family meals. Lessons learned, secrets exchanged, bonds forged, reinforced by our most visceral of senses.

Accompanying the usual eye-popping flight of acrobatic choreography and pulsating music are the other three senses — the touch of hands in batter, the smell of cookies baking, the taste of roasted oregano — leading us through a span of times and countries, all the while the iconic kitchen our common meeting point.”

On The 7 Fingers website lists you can see the countless shows, artistic collaborations and other special events.

We also recommend going to the House of Yes, in Bushwick. They have some pretty unique events and shows if you enjoyed the super human circus.

The Greenwich Village is one of our favorite neighborhoods in Manhattan and there’s just so much to do there. Here are a few of our top picks.

For shows with upcoming bands, you can check out The Bitter End. If you want to go for dinner, you can try Rockin’ Raw for the vegans and Buvette if you enjoy a cool French cuisine. Banter Bar is great for a light meal and coffee! And, to see and be seen, go for a drink at Bar Pitti.

Dates: 11 – 16 April, 2017

Location: NYU Skirball Center for the Performing Arts – 566 LaGuardia Place

First Time Out: A Variety Show With Emerging Artists

Nightlife Bars First Time Out Sisters Bklyn Musicians

This is a post if you’re into singing or if you enjoy upcoming talents! We’ve written about Sisters Bklyn a while ago and we really enjoy everything that they do! First Time Out is a variety show with emerging artists and talents!

Nightlife Bars First Time Out Sisters Bklyn Musicians

Sisters Bklyn is not only known for their craft beer, cocktails, but also for nice wine.

Most important, they are well known throughout the cool artists/singer community. Why? They encourage these artists by hosting events where they perform and show their talent to the world.

What this event series, called First Time Out, all about?

“We’re going back to our roots with genuine first timers and first time performances (is that you?). This is one for the books so come give your love, meet new friends, and support budding artists.”

This great idea came to life a few years back in 2014. The idea was to help emerging actors, singers and talents in different industries that have never performed and shown their art to the world, to share it!

Today, with over 100 different performances, they recruit and organize events where these talents present themselves to curious crowds.

Also, the guests are some of the coolest and most cultural-oriented people out there. They appreciate different forms of art, they celebrate diversity and they are supporters by heart to these brave souls that put themselves out there.

Therefore, we do have to agree, they do have to be courageous to open up to a “strange” audience. Our Founder, , loves engaging with these artists. For one, she is a fantastic networker and can talk forever with you, but has opened up about her fear of public speaking.

Anyway, getting back on track, be sure to see their upcoming shows. This one, will be hosted at Pete’s Candy Store.

Tickets: $6.27 – $11.54

Location: Sisters – 900 Fulton Street | Pete’s Candy Store – 709 Lorimer Street
