At only 27 years, Fernanda Feher, or Fe Feher, has a breathtaking professional experience. For the past 7 years this talented artist, Fe Feher, been living in NYC and has worked with great names like the Brazilian Janaina Tschäpe.
Fe Feher attended The Art Students League of New York and completed her B.F.A. at Pratt Institute.
Her work has clear influences from Gabriel García Márquez’s “Magical Realism”, well as in the Harajuku Kids from Japan – a destination she visits every year -, and artists like Aya Takano and Yoshimoto Nara. Plus, do you see a bit of the dearest Frida Khalo in her paintings.
Fernanda’s studio is inside an old, and I though particularly “spooky”, but super cool. pan factory in Williamsburg. Well, she had warned me: “It’s a stinky old school studio in Brooklyn with several friendly bugs in some corners.”
That’s EXACLY what it’s like!
Her studio has the most amazing view of Manhattan’s skyline and is shared with amazing artists like the Dutch artists Gerben Mulder and Sebastiann Bremer and the American, David Kramer, that recently had a show at the Pompidou in Paris.
Not bad for “studio neighbors”, right?
Recently back from the Biennale di Venezia, Fernanda is working in a few new projects and will soon showcase them, so stay tuned for the date and time!
More about the artist:
“Fernanda Feher is a Brazilian multimedia artist currently living and working in Lisbon, Portugal. In her work Feher subverts traditional portraiture by placing subjects in fantastic, sometimes impossible landscapes heavy with symbolism.
By focusing on familiar subjects such as friends and family she challenges the reality of the known world by transposing her subjects into unnatural and surreal settings.”
“I think of my paintings as postcards from a world inside of me.” ~ Fernanda Feher
We are sure you will love diving into the Fe Feher’s beautifully peculiar, and certainly amusing world! We do!
Lastly, Fe also has this passion for replicating portraits of influential people on her new denim jackets. If you’re into fashion, take a look at this great work she does!
** Fernanda is now currently living in Lisbon, Portugal. She is always back visiting friends in New York, as well as organizing new projects and exhibitions here. We’re always happy to catch up with her when she’s around! **
