I have to confess that I had never been to The Cloisters, until this past weekend when a good friend from my meditation group invited me to go! It had been on my must-see list since forever, but because it’s location is a bit distant, I was always postponing the visit.

So, this time I had agreed to go with her and there no way I would cancel it. So, after the Feeding Program we help coordinate o Saturday morning at Tompkins Square Park, I grabbed the subway and started heading North.

The best option to get up to Fort George, is to get the A Express train (blue line), up to Dyckman Street. It will be just steps from the entrance of Fort Tyron Park, where The Met Cloisters is located.

In addition, the 1 train (red line), also passes through there, but it’s a local train, so it stops many more times along the way.

A bit of History:

To start, many people don’t know that The Cloister is actually part of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The museum opened to the public in May of 1938 and is focused on art and architecture of medieval Europe.

It’s located at Fort Tyron Park with a priceless view of the Hudson River – and I have the say, the sunset there is amazing!

The museum has obviously medieval structures and might look as if it’s quite old, but during construction, the architects behind this project simply gathered beautiful inspirations and elements of medieval cloisters.

“Approximately 2,000 works of art from medieval Europe, largely dating from the 12th through the 15th century and including exquisite illuminated manuscripts, stained glass, metalwork, enamels, ivories, and tapestries, are exhibited in this unique context.”

But wait! What is a “cloister”?

“A covered walk in a convent, monastery, college, or cathedral, typically with a wall on one side and a colonnade open to a quadrangle on the other.”

See the video above for a great footage of The Met Cloisters during it’s construction!

What NOT to miss when going there:

It’s hard to even start listing what you can’t miss, since the entire collection is breathtaking, but I’ve listed below the main ones that people are always asking about.

Plus, they have beautiful gardens that you can enjoy with no rush and just take your time!

Top Halloween Parties 2018 In New York City

Events Up Coming NYC Halloween Parties 2018 Blood Manor

I can’t believe that Halloween is just around the corner, again! How crazy fast did this year go by, right? Take a look at the top Halloween parties 2018 in New York City!

Events Up Coming NYC Halloween Parties 2018 Blood Manor
Blood Manor

I can’t believe that Halloween is just around the corner, again! How crazy fast did this year go by, right?

We ALL know that Halloween is the best time of the year with some of the most amazing parties spread throughout the entire city, or country! People travel from all over the globe and come to New York to enjoy this special weekend and go home with endless stories to tell!

Well, like last year, we decided to share with you which will be some of the top parties in the city.

Where am I going? I’m also still not sure for one simple reason: the type of music I enjoy is totally different from the music my friends enjoy! I love psychedelic trans (minus the drugs, lol) and my friends just h-a-t-e it! Ha! The past 2 years, I went to Circo Loco, that is also listed below and loved it!

Tickets are running out and getting super expensive, so be sure to figure out where you’re going and guarantee your ticket(s)!

Oh! And besides the parties, I listed a few costume and make up stores to get you ready for the party!

McKittrick Hotel

Events Up Coming NYC Halloween Parties 2018 McKittrick Hotel

You’ve probably heard of Sleep No More, right? If not, it’s the city’s top theatrical experience inside the McKittrick Hotel, where they recreated a non-chronological show portraying the famous Macbeth, written by Shakespeare. Everyone’s face has a mask, preserving all identities and making everyone anonymous.

This is one of the top parties in Manhattan for one simple reason: these guys know how to put a party together!

As they say: “Guests are strongly encouraged to arrive dressed in expressive creations that give regard to the residences tradition of deviant witchcraft – be it a witch, sorcerer, enchanter, vampire, beast, or monster. Alternatively, you could come in dress inspired by the occult, in all black.”

Location: 530 West 27th Street

Circo Loco

Ah!! This is the party I told you in the intro that I love and I’ve been to the past two years! If you’re into electronic music – the type that makes your bones shake – then, this is certainly the place for you!

They always organize it in one of those huge Brooklyn warehouses far from everything! The organization is great, the DJ’s lineup is always fantastic with international names and the costumes are truly creative.

Party starts pretty late, but I usually arrive early because lines get crazy. But, if you’re a night owl, you’ll love it!

House of Yes

The team behind the House of Yes are also experts in: party! They are known for throwing some of the best events in the entire New York and their creativity sure amazes everyone!

Do you like neon make up, colorful costumes, live artistic presentations, beautiful circus acts, community vibe, great music, DJs, and feeling like you’re part of something bigger? Then this is for you!

You’ll be able to enjoy 4 different parties they’ve organized for Halloween, so see which one if your favorite!

Babël

The party this year is called “Garden of Eden with Black Coffee” and the team behind the party said that it will be a dream journey leading us back to our lost paradise.

“This year’s celebration is dedicated to our beautiful and beloved planet, Gaia. We may come together to protect it so we can retrieve our lost paradise.”

And, the party will happened at a beautiful place called Duggal Greenhouse, in Brooklyn.

Do you like boats? Ok…let me rephrase. Do you like beautiful yachts, with gorgeous people, good music and a priceless view of Manhattan’s skyline?

Well, if your answer was yes, then continue reading! The Titanic Masquerade party will take place in a yacht that will float down the famous Hudson River for 3 unforgettable hours!

You’ll be able to see not only the breathtaking Freedom Tower at the One World and our Lady Liberty, but also other memorable sights.

Plus, everything paired with the music of some of the top DJs!

Twilight Tour no Green-Wood Cemetery

Events Up Coming NYC Halloween Parties 2018 Green Wood Cemetery

Last Halloween, I attended another party that also happened inside the renowned Green-Wood Cemetery, in Brooklyn. And, I literally loved it!

The party I went to was later at night, but this year they are doing a pre-event from 5pm – 7pm, when the sun starts setting. We all know that this is the time where cemeteries start getting fun, right? Lol!

If you are like me, you will LOVE this experience! I really thought it was unforgettable and still, you’ll be able to head to another party after it!

Oh! And just thought you’d like to know: the experience ends in a place completely off bounds to the common public: inside one of their catacombs.

Location: 500 25th Street

Blood Manor

In general, haunted houses usually corny and not really scary, but I can guarantee that after you walk inside Blook Manor, you’ll have quite a hard time going to bed at night.

This is one of the most famous haunted houses in New York and surely, the bloodiest one you’ll ever see. The production behind it all is surreal and will get your bones shaking!

Take a look at the video below and let’s see if you’ll have the courage to enter it.

Good luck!

Village Halloween Parade

Events Up Coming NYC Halloween Parties 2018 Village Halloween Parade

Like every single year, on October 31st, the famous Village Halloween Parade takes over the streets of the West Village.

The parade starts at 7pm and will finish around 10:30pm. The costumes are truly amazing, the dancers and artists are extremely talented and the union of this all makes it one of the most iconic moments of the year in New York.

If you’d like to be part of it, check out their website to see how it works!

Cipriani 42nd Street

If you’re looking for a super high-end party, with some of the most gorgeous gals and guys in town, Cipriani 42nd Street is known of hosting this type of party!

Party starts at 10pm and even though this 31st will be on a Wednesday, do expect a full house!

Dances of Vice

This is another party that sells out super quickly, so be sure to guarantee your ticket asap, if you’d like to attend it.

This year, the name of the party is “Cabaret de L’Enfer: Heaven & Hell Halloween Ball”. As they explain: “This year’s legendary Halloween stomp sin-spired by the notorious Heaven and Hell nightclubs of 1890s Paris.

Experience supernatural visions of paradise and the underworld at the iconic Capitale, a majestic multi-level, multi-room 19th century vault, to the sordid sounds of angel horns and devil trombones—you are invited!”

Where To Go For The Best Cocktails In Brooklyn?

Nightlife Bars Top Cocktail Spots In Brooklyn Rabbit Hole Fernanda Paronetto Jared Zuckerman

New York is known for having some of the coolest bars and best signature cocktails in the world! So, we decided to show you a few of my favorite spots, serving the top cocktails in Brooklyn, to start your drinking adventures throughout NYC!

Many of you come to New York in search of the hottest bars and crazy cocktails in town! So, due to countless requests, for the very 1st episode, of our 2nd YouTube Season, we decided to shoot a short a sweet video about 3 of our favorite bars to start off your journey to find your favorite spot!

I, once again, invited my friend Jared Zuckerman, a travel and food expert, to come explore NY with me, off the beaten path!

We visited 3 places in Brooklyn, with fantastic cocktail: Rabbit Hole, a true local hotspot, Lighthouse BK where we tried their signature cocktails and saw how they insert sustainability into their business and finally Huckleberry Bar, with their seasonally driven menu and famous outdoor patio!

We got a bit tipsy along the way, but I think that that was the point, right?

Oh! And don’t forget to SUBSCRIBE to our channel!!!

Disclosure: Do not EVER drink and drive! Call an Uber or just head to the subway for a quick and commute back home!

The Rabbit hole is truly one of the secret gems in Brooklyn. The spot is over 10 years old, but it didn’t start off as a restaurant/bar. The owner, Lawrence Elliott, opened a bakery called The Read Café, with the most delicious homemade pastries. In no time, it became the neighborhood’s to-go spot, filled with the local crowd.

Their pastries are still known for being fantastic and their best sellers are the cookies, muffins and scones.

But, today we can to talk about their cocktail bar! We decided to try two drinks and the result was as expected: super soft, well-balanced and flavorful drinks!

We had the French Marguerita made with tequila, cherry liquor, ginger and garnished cherry, and The Smoke, that is a mixture of Laphroaig – a Single Malt peated Whisky, clove syrup and lemon juice with burning stick of rosemary.

It’s on the top of the list for drinks. Plus, they also offer an amazing brunch, lunch and dinner menu and their outdoor garden is perfect for the warmer months!

The 2nd place we visited was Lighthouse Brooklyn. We’re written about them in the past, and decided to shoot a video since we love it! This spot is also a winner for two reasons: First, their cocktails, of course; and two, their Mediterranean inspired menu is out of this world!

We spoke to the owners, and brothers, Naama and Assaf, that showed us the reasons of why their spot is always overflowing with great people.

The entire story about Lighthouse is focused on sustainability and locally sourced ingredients and the concept that everything is recyclable. As they say: “We recycle, compost, and collaborate with other green minded organizations to grow, improve and educate ourselves, our staff, our guests.”

Well, now to the drinks…Assaf prepared the Mezcalito, made with Mezcal, jalapeno, agave, fresh lime and salt and the Summer Sangria, with gin, St. Germain, sake and seasonal fruit.

The Sangria was super refreshing and the Mezcalito is perfect if you’re into spicy, stong cocktails, but nonetheless, smooth to drink!

We have to confess that we did have their mezze platter and I do recommend it blindly. It’s extremely tasty. It has smoked labne, hummus, tahini + arissa, charred eggplant labne, olives and a hot staff.

Now…headed to our 3rd and final stop…

[UNFORTUNATELY THIS PLACES CLOSED AFTER THE PANDEMIC.]

And for our grand finale, we headed to Huckleberry Bar, that is famous for its seasonally craft cocktails!

We had the talented and beautiful Serena doing a few of her favorite drinks for us!

We tried the Strawberry Field, obviously named after the Beatles’ song, made with house-infused Dill Vodka, wódka, house-made strawberry syrup, lemon juice!

The other drink was The Sun Also Rises – a great mix of square one botanical vodka, Amaro Nonino, yellow Chartreuse, cinnamon syrup, Angostura bitters and prosecco.

Their menu is quite entertaining with very peculiar names for their drinks, like: Message in a Bottle, Drinking at the Gym, Bahia Via Brooklyn, and my favorite, I Demand Satisfaction! Pretty curious, right?

Why go there?

“Though it’s just about the best bar in East Williamsburg for a date, the atmosphere is just as dynamic as the menu; it’s the perfect place to enjoy a sunny day from the shade of our lush garden, to relax by candlelight on weeknights, or to get your nightlife fix on the weekends with some of Brooklyn’s best DJs.”

And, as I said in the beginning, if you’re drinking do NOT drive, and if you’re not driving drink with moderation and responsibility! Be responsible and get tipsy in the BTSNYC style. Have fun with your friends in all these super cool spots!

Don’t forget to SUBSCRIBE to our channel, come explore New York with me and welcome to our Behind the Scenes NYC world!

If you enjoyed this post you’d probably love exploring another couple bars in Greenpoint, Brooklyn or even this super hot spot that the coolest crowd goes to!

Best Nude Beaches In New York And Around

Day Trips and Travels Nude Beaches in New York Gunnison NJ Dock Area

I had never been to nude beaches in New York before, or anywhere else actually, but I have to say that I was always curious to see what it would be like. I mean, I think many people also have this curiosity but, like me, never really had the guts to go.

Day Trips and Travels Nude Beaches in New York Gunnison NJ

Thankfully I have a great group of friends that planned a special Sunday for us this past weekend! The weather was perfect, the sky was as blue as it could get and I decided to give it a go!

Result: I loved it and can’t wait to explore another nude beach!

So, I decided to write this post to share my experience, tell you about prepping for the day, share some do’s and don’ts, and list you a few places to go in New York and around!

We actually went to a beach called Gunnison Beach, in Sandy Hook, New Jersey. Gunnison is known for being the only legal nude beach in the State, plus it’s a LGBTQ+ friendly spot too. It’s known as one of the oldest and best nude beaches on the East Coast to go to.

The gay-friendly section of the beach is mostly near the parking lot, but you can see families and straight people enjoying the day too. One of the cool things at the beach is that even though it is encouraged to just go full on naked, it’s optional.

So, if it’s your first time explore nude beaches in New York, like it was mine, you can go at your own pace and comfort. I actually just decided to get in the mood, after 5minutes I was there…

It’s like a cold lake. Better to just jump straight in, instead of putting first your feet to get used to the water. You might never get in…Hahaha!

Every single person at the beach is extremely respectful, no one is making fun, or talking or even stopping to look at other people. They are just enjoying the day, chatting with friends, sunbathing and refreshing in the ocean.

I didn’t see any sign that said “No Cameras”, but I do think it’s implicit that no one should be taking pictures or recording anything, right? My recommendations is to just forget about your phone and enjoy your time there.

The sensation? It’s actually extremely liberating! You just feel free and in peace with yourself and your body. Everyone there is beautiful the way they are and no one is there to judge.

How to get there?

Day Trips and Travels Nude Beaches in New York Gunnison NJ Pier 11I left from Manhattan, so the best way was to head to Pier 11, near Wall Street and get the Seastreak Ferry to Sandy Hook, New Jersey. My recommendation would be to purchase the round-trip ticket, since I didn’t really see where you could buy tickets at Sandy Hook back to Manhattan.

Ticket prices are a bit steep and a round ticket costs $46 per person, but I do recommend the experience. Steeper prices also mean a more controlled crowd.

We left on the 11am ferry and in 30 minutes we were at Sandy Hook. Arriving there you’ll see, right by the docking area, some friendly Rangers guiding you to the yellow school buses that will take you to the beaches. We dropped off at the 1st stop, Gunnison Beach, but there is another stop called North Beach.

Arriving at Gunnison, you’ll walk through a nice wooden path that will lead you to the beach. It’s maybe a 10min walk from there, to where you’ll probably settle in.

Oh! Do use the bathroom, before getting to the beach, since it not that close, sand is hot and fluffy, so it’s not that fast to walk through when you’re super tight.

If you go by car from Manhattan, you might take up to 2h, so the ferry is definitely easier. But, if you decide to go by car, if I’m not mistaken, parking it $10 a car/day.

How to Prep?

Day Trips and Travels Nude Beaches in New York Gunnison NJ Dock AreaGunnison doesn’t really have good food options. There is only a small food truck that sells some snacks and refreshments, but to spend a full day, it’s not really a great place to depend on.

We had been to the market the day before and we bought things to prepare a couple of sandwiches for lunch and we also bought fruits, snacks like blue corn tortilla chips, hummus, nuts, a few sweets and some water bottles. It was all inside these thermal carrying bags.

Guys! Do hydrate during the day! Even though there is an amazing constant breeze you might not notice, but you are dehydrating there.

We took 2 big portable sun umbrellas for our group of 7 people and it was just perfect.

Also, no need to say, but yes, take sunscreen and keep reapplying through out the day, plus a hat and some cool shades. You WILL burn…

And lastly, we took towels to lay on, just to be more comfortable.

A few Rules & Etiquette Tips for the 1st Timers:

Day Trips and Travels Nude Beaches in New York Gunnison NJ Path To Beach

So, these are just a few of my own thoughts, ok? Feel free to comment below with more that I might have forgotten!

1. Respect each and every single person around you. They are there to have fun too!

2. Don’t EVER stare. I mean, come on, we’re there to have fun and not to check people out, make fun and point at strangers.

3. A nude beach is NOT a place to pick up dates or hit on people. It’s a beach like every other beach, not an eye candy spot. Stay with your group, unless you’re invited otherwise to join someone else.

4. Don’t EVER film or take pictures. If you do decide to take a quick selfie, be 1000000% sure no one is appearing in the back of your picture. But, as I mentioned, better to just enjoy your time there and forget your phone for once.

5. Be sure to see WHERE you are allowed to strip down! Not every public space at the beach is a spot to go naked. Ex: People are dressed at the restroom area at Gunnison, so put your clothes on to go there. And also, some public spaces might be allowed to go naked, but have a towel with you, so you don’t sit bare-bum, ok? This is for sanitation purposes.

…and still…

6.  If you’re with your loved one, be discrete, please! No one is making out like crazy on the sand, so just act as if you’re at any other public space. Also, don’t sit on laps or touch each other’s private areas, ok?

7. This is for the MEN! Guys, I believe it must hard to control your friend down there, when you see something attractive. It’s ok if that happens. There is no shame, BUT be sure to be discrete and, as we said, respect everyone there. Keep an extra towel close by, just in case.

8. Should I go with friends or alone? Well, friends are always good since you know them, but you might think it’s weird to see a close friend totally naked… If you decide to go alone, you have to be careful too. Have something to give your attention too – a book, good music, a coloring book, sunbathing, etc. Going alone and just “staring”, might be a bit weird and not welcomed.

9. If your group has music playing, be sure it’s not disturbing your neighbors. Also, DON’T put on a show with your crazy “Dancing Days” moves. Keep that for when you get back into the city, with your clothes on!

10. EMBRACE this moment of freedom and total liberation from anything and anyone. Just have fun in the sun!

A few other nude beaches to explore:

  • Gunnison in Sandy Hook, New Jersey, is where I went.
  • Fire Island, in Long Island, NY, has a few spots to explore like Lighthouse Beach and Cherry Grove
  • The Rockaways is also known of having a few spots and specific areas in Fort Tilden and Jacob Riis Park

Upstate New York has a few options too, if you’re more a mountain-person:

  • Juniper Woods Campground, in the Catskill, says it’s “a clothing optional nudist recreational park and campground”
  • Split Rock Hole inside the Mohonk Preserve, located in New Paltz, is a great natural pond to cool off during summer
  • Empire Haven in Moravia, NY “was founded in 1959 and is a family-oriented nudist park located in the beautiful Finger Lakes Region”
  • Full Tan Sun Club, in Sprakers, NY is a “family nudist campground” and opened over 50 years ago
  • Stony Kill Falls, also in New Paltz, has clean spring water in their Nudist Pool

As I mentioned a few times, be sure to see all the rules of each spot you go explore, ok?

Let me know if there are other places and nude beaches in New York that I should add to this list on the comments below!!! I’d love to know them!!!

For other beaches, not nude this time, you might want to explore a place I love called Sag Harbor! Great escape from our concrete jungle too!

Six Impossible Things: Interactive Magic Experience with Joshua Jay

Events On Going Six Impossible Things Joshua Jay NYC with Fernanda Paronetto

Who doesn’t enjoy a little bit of magic in their lives? I certainly do! I got a behind the scenes peek into Six Impossible Things, a magic show that defies all Laws of Nature! Uncover with me the world of Joshua Jay!

When we walk around New York, we find a little bit a magic spread throughout every corner of the city!

Events On Going Six Impossible Things Joshua Jay NYC Skull

And I mean, who in this world does not like a bit of magic? I do!

Joshua Jay is one of the most renowned names today in the world of magic!

He’s performed in over 100 countries, he’s won several prizes, he’s been live in countless TV shows and he even holds a Guinness World of Records for card tricks, which is pretty awesome!

He still holds the title up to this date!

How I met Josh? Well, I met him back in 2011 in Brazil where my brother and I participated in a small shooting he was doing at a friend’s photography studio!

I really thought that we would not fall for his tricks, but…to my surprise, it was truly a-m-a-z-i-n-g!

Now, Josh lives in NY (hum…actually he’s been here for over 10 years!) and started a special show called Six Impossible Things.

I went behind the scenes before his show started, to check out what’s going on, before he goes on stage!

And the magic happens, right behind a blue door…

Get your ticket!

My experience at the show!

Events On Going Six Impossible Things Joshua Jay NYC Fernanda Paronetto

After the shooting with Josh, I actually came back to witness the show and I was in awe all through this interactive experience.

There were only 20 people there, keeping it quite intimate. Every single person was able to participate in one or another magic and engage with Josh during the show.

Plus, each one had a one-on-one with him!

At each magic trick it just kept getting more and more amazing and it truly blew my mind (and everyone that was there). I paid close attention to see if there was any way to figure out how it was done, but some tricks were pretty complex to even try…

What can I say? For one, I don’t want to do any spoiler alerts, but you’ll be sure to see some of the most spectacular magic tricks ever, that even defy all Laws of Nature! Oh, and the art work by Serge Bloch is breathtaking and pretty special!

I LOVED IT and recommend it to every one out there, at every age!

More about the show:

“Six Impossible Things is an interactive magic experience in which you will experience astounding magic inches from your face, in the dark and even alone.”

The show is approximately 75 minutes and includes an unusual refreshment and a hard-backed volume not otherwise for sale.

Events On Going Six Impossible Things Joshua Jay NYC Hands

Six Impossible Things has been built into Wildrence, an acclaimed event space on the Lower East Side.

In each room, a new mystery unfolds to reveal an impossible ‘thing’.

You will see six astounding magic effects, all original compositions by master magician Joshua Jay.

The show is strictly limited to twenty persons per show, and reservations are limited to groups of eight or less.

Tickets are $106—136.

Doors open fifteen minutes before showtime and the show begins promptly at the designated hour. Absolutely no late admittance or refunds offered.

Due to the nature of the show, guests are admitted JUST ONCE to Six Impossible Things. So pay attention, enjoy, and don’t blink.

They are all house-made and I promise that the meat eaters will never believe they are eating vegan food!

His best seller is the Original World Famous Burger – a burger patty topped with melted cheddar “cheese”, special sauce, pickles, and crisp shredded lettuce, on a sesame seed bun!

We are completely addicted to it, and we’re sure you will to, regardless for being a meat eater! Promise!

Cedar’s

“Know better Hommus. ”

Ok. I’m also completely addicted to hummus. Once I open it at home, I can easily finish an entire pot alone, if I don’t control myself.

That said, Cedar’s sells some of the most delicious hummus, in my opinion. Their story starts back across the ocean in the Mediterranean, but continued in the US, when they decided to spread their love.

They infused different combinations of spices and veggies until they came up with new and exciting flavors.

Today they’ve expanded to their fresh Mediterranean Salads, Greek yogurt-based Dips, Salsa, Pita Chips, Wraps and—of course— their legendary Tzatziki. Hard to know to what buy first!

I love every single product by these guys! They have everything from Vegenaise, Vegan Gourmet & Gluten-Free Bakery, Vegan Cheese Slices, VeganEgg, and Dressings.

They were serving a small local community in Canoga Park that was soon to expand across the country.

Today, they’ve expanded their passion for great-tasting, healthy foods, and believe that we should all have compassion for all living things and have a responsibility to be good stewards to the environment! We support!

Culture Music Here Died Warhol by Eugenio Merino

Andy Warhol was one of the most well-known names when talking about pop art!

The American artist was also a renowned producer and director, and has a studio in NYC called The Factory. Want to know a cool fact? The 1st location of the studio, in Midtown Manhattan, costed him only $100 rent/year in the early 1960’s!

His works are shown worldwide and through July 9th, you’ll be able to see Here Died Warhol, at the Unix Gallery.

Most know him for his films and painting, but Warhol has another entire list of works that ranged from photography and audio, to theater, fashion and culture.

Starting April 26, it will be possible to visit Andy Warhol’s body in Chelsea, New York. Here Died Warhol is a sensational experience that takes the visitor around New York City.

It follows Andy Warhol’s footsteps from his artistic beginnings to the glamorous and iconic places he frequented. The late artist’s body will lie in state at UNIX Gallery, through June 9th, 2018.

Here Died Warhol is an immersive installation by Spanish artist Eugenio Merino featuring a life-size hyperrealistic sculpture of Andy Warhol accompanied by a black granite gravestone. There is a functioning souvenir shop (including T-shirts, postcards, mugs).

And, a self-guided tour map of Warhol’s essential haunts (like his first New York residence and The Factory) complete Eugenio Merino the installation.

The intimacy of Merino’s sculpture in the gallery punctuates the cultural tourist’s experience as they contemplate the art and popularity of Warhol’s legacy.

Curated by the Málaga-based collective Los Interventores, Here Died Warhol explores the curiosity and motivation of Adjectival Tourism. In this case, it is a paired fascination with Warhol’s explosive célébrité and an innate curiosity about death close-up (like visitors to the Paris Morgue in the late 1800s).

Resonating with tourists and gallery visitors alike, the exhibition gives a full understanding of the city and artist that helped shape each other.

The installation is a sharp critique of the mass tourism and the cultural industry of the city-brand.  It examines the clash between the rise of tourist attractions and the needs of the local population; where real is replaced by a false setting targeted at the visitor.

Here Died Warhol is the definitive opportunity to take a selfie with the artist. Plus, acquire those objects created to capitalize on the essence of the most famous Pop Art visionary; the sale of the artist ́s aura.

The hyperrealism of Merino’s sculpture highlights this conflict between the genuine and the fake within the tourist experience.

Moreover, this frustration transforms the city into a commodified space intended primarily for leisure and consumerism.

Here Died Warhol follows on the success of Aquí Murió Picasso (Here Died Picasso), which in 2017 attracted more than 20,000 visitors to the Alliance Française in Málaga.

For the duration of the exhibition, it became a must-see tourist experience in the capital of La Costa del Sol.
