We’ve created a Behind the Scenes NYC Team to participate in this year’s Walk MS, to support the research and extinction of Multiple Sclerosis (a.k.a. MS)!

Multiple sclerosis is a chronic, unpredictable disease of the central nervous system (CNS), which is made up of the brain, spinal cord and optic nerves.

But, today there are multiple medications and people can actually have totally normal and healthy lives, even though they’ve been diagnosed with MS.

That is to say that the MSWalk will happen in New York City on April 17th. And, we’re calling family, friends, and new friends to participate with us!

Plus, donate ANY amount you wish – starting at $1, and come meet us on the 17th!

In 2016 the Walk MS: New York City participants raised $1,301,665.93 in 2016 to fund critical services, groundbreaking research and move us closer to a world free of MS.

In addition, 4,687 people made Walk MS: New York City a success in 2016.

About MS:

Multiple sclerosis is a chronic, unpredictable disease of the central nervous system (CNS), which is made up of the brain, spinal cord and optic nerves. It is thought to be an immune-mediated disorder, in which the immune system incorrectly attacks healthy tissue in the CNS.

So, when you make a donation, you are changing the world for people affected by MS. Furthermore, the symptoms of MS range from numbness and tingling to blindness and paralysis.

The progress, severity and specific symptoms of MS in any one person cannot yet be predicted, but advances in research and treatment are leading to better understanding and moving us closer to a world free of MS. Moreover, most people with MS are diagnosed between the ages of 20 and 50, with at least two to three times more women than men being diagnosed with the disease.

In addition, MS affects more than 2.3 million worldwide, and there is not yet a cure. Every dollar raised matters to those affected by MS.

Thank you for your support!

Lastly, Behind the Scenes NYC Team ranked #114 in the list of ”Walk 2016 Top Fundraisers as of May 2nd 2016″, raising $2,718 on the Walk MS.

One of the main reasons we started Behind the Scenes NYC was to work with the local community, making a difference and helping those that need our support.

We met a great group of people from Be The Match at an event in the city last year. Immediately, we signed up and joined their program by filling out a form. Plus, they got a “saliva sample” so we could become donors – totally painless.

They explain:

“For thousands of patients with a blood cancer like leukemia or other blood disease like sickle cell anemia, a marrow or umbilical cord transplant is their only life-saving treatment – their only chance for a cure. Yet, most have no matching marrow donor in their family.”

So, if you are between the age of 18 and 44, these folks need you!

Moms and future moms, did you know that your baby’s umbilical cord can save lives too!?

Here are a few ways to engage and be part of this amazing work:

  1. Donate: Different from what people thing, the 2 methods of donation are painless. PBSC donation is a nonsurgical procedure and the most common way to donate. Bone marrow donation is a surgical, usually outpatient procedure. Regardless, both are safe and painless.
  2. Donate Money: Yes, they do rely on financial contributions to continue researches. In addition, they help patients with transplant costs and other needs.
  3. Volunteer, attend an event or put together a fundraising: Yes, there are other countless ways to support and participate. You’ll surely find the one that suits you the most.

Their Volunteer Programs is great for anyone interested in donating time – one of our most precious assets today!

Furthermore, if you want to actually see the impact they have today, you can read heart-warming stories. From patients and donors to stories behind patients & donors actually meeting, after a successful transplant!

Let’s help make a difference in this world that seams to have become as it’s crazy as it can get!

Chef Daniel Humm from Elevan Madison Park and David Hertz, Founder of Gastromotiva.

Gastromotiva will happen on Monday, March 24th in the heart of Manhattan.

The event will be a unique opportunity to witness the team of Eleven Madison Park – rated 5th in The World’s 50 Best Restaurants – pay homage to the Brazilian people and social-gastronomic movement.

During this night, they’ll serve a special five-course tasting menu. Created by the renowned Chef Daniel Humm, who will be in attendance during the night, it will be a remarkable experience.

By his side, the Wine Director, Dustin Wilson will be pairing wines with each course.

The event gathered 120 amazing people and raised funds to graduate 70 new cooks in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil!

Take a look at the fantastic outcome of Gastromotiva Benefit Dinner NYC night on the video below!

And still, a little more about Gastromotiva:

Gastromotiva began operations in São Paulo in 2006, followed by Rio de Janeiro in 2013 and Salvador in 2014. It will soon open in other cities in Brazil and Latin America.
In addition to Vocational Kitchen Training, we encourage dissemination of Social Gastronomy in Brazil and worldwide. Why? To show food’s powers to transform.
Good work is always recognized.

Gastromotiva has become a bellwether in Brazil for its power to transform not only in the gastronomic market, but also in the third sector. In the name of founder David Hertz, the organization has received awards and tributes which enhance the value to the initiatives and projects undertaken.”

Also, we are very fond of working close to charities in New York and promoting their work. Feel free to reach out and contribute in ways, at your reach.

In addition, if you are a company, and have an upcoming Gala, we work with fantastic customized experiences that can be auctioned to help raise money.
