Founded in 2008 by the Brazilian professional tattooer, Rodrigo Melo, North Star Tattoo is a fantastic place to visit if you’re after a good tattooer.
In some cultures Tattoos are considered a huge taboo for some people. But, for other tribes out there, it’s a symbol of personal identity, authenticity, and expressing yourself through art.
Some people have tattoos for the sake of it, but most people have a deeper and profound meaning and relation with their own art works. Some might even be talented enough to have drawn it on their own!
We are huge fans of self expression and doing something for yourself, without caring what the world thinks! There is a beauty behind each different type of art. Moreover, the importance of one that is “almost” permanently stamped on your body, is huge!
Located in the East Village, North Star Tattoo is the home of very talented tattooers.
Besides the Brazilian professional tattooer and Founder, Rodrigo Melo, his team has other great names! You can ask for outstanding professionals like Dana Helmuth, Leandro Nacimbene, Anna Melo, Leo-Bullgod and Henrique Mattos.
“At North Star Tattoo we cater to the more traditional styles of tattooing, specializing in custom designs. We also have a large selection of original hand painted designs to choose from.”
In addition, the place is amazing, super clean, with a creative ambience and has great professionals. Brazilians do have this inner love and happiness within that captivate everyone. So, when doing something so personal, this is definitely the right professionals to resort to!
A little more about him:
“I Specialize in Traditional Japanese Horimono style Tattooing. Catering to a more serious collector. Focusing on a bold old school aesthetic. Using all disposable equipment in combination with electric rotary tattoo machine.”
Rodrigo, unfortunately close the East Village location, and is currently on the road across the U.S.
On the other hand, if you are interested in his work, shoot him an email (below)!
To explore the East Village, you might want to pass by the collectively owned bookstore, Blue Stockings, have a true New Yorker experience at Nuyorican Café or, if it’s a Saturday morning, walk to Tompkins Square Park and help in feeding 200 homeless charity work that our Founder, Fê Paronetto, helps coordinate with friends!
