Sounds pretty cool, right?

“The Guilty Party – A Celebration of the Cult Classic ‘Clue’!” is the next one will happen in 2 weeks. It’s a Saturday night party and experienced named Supercinema.

This is how they explain it:

“For one night only, enter the McKittrick as characters inspired by some of the greatest films of all times. For the September Edition of Supercinema, we delve into the surreal and murderously funny universe of Clue. Experience the film inspired by one of the greatest mysteries of all time with a night of dancing, live performances, costumed revelry and open bar.”

About the film “Clue”, released in December of 1985:

Clue is a movie about 6 guests, a butler, and a maid, who are all involved in the murders of 6 people. The guests all meet at Hill House, where you learn that Professor Plum works in D.C., where everyone else lives. Colonel Mustard is a client of Miss Scarlet, who is the ex-employer of Yvette, the maid, who had an affair with the husband of Mrs. White, etc.

When Mr. Boddy, who is blackmailing each guest, gives the guests each a weapon, he tells them they should kill Wadsworth, the butler, to avoid being exposed. With Mrs. Peacock’s craziness, and Mr. Green’s clumsiness, the whole group finds themselves tangled in a web of murder, lies, and hilarity. Written by Ali Harton.” – IMDB

Nix is a Manhattan vegetarian restaurant, founded by the Michelin-starred chef John Fraser and James Truman. The restaurant serves a huge variety of dishes with very fresh, seasonal vegetables (one of Fraser’s cooking passions). Plus, it’s vegan friendly!

The dishes we tried were all prepared in a way perfect for sharing which, for larger groups, is ideal. We love being able to taste a bit everything!

The flavors were fantastic, presentation was impeccable and the energy of the place is hard to describe, but very very welcoming and peaceful.

A few dishes you can try, that are our favorites:

  • Tandoor bread
  • House hummus, zaatar
  • Labneh & marinated cucumbers
  • Steamed tofu, smoky mushroom dashi & celtuce
  • Cauliflower tempura with steamed buns and house pickles
  • Artichoke and broccoli rabe sauté with preserved tomatoes
  • Pea dumplings, radish, ginger an& scallion

It’s a great place for drinks too, since they have a gorgeous full bar and some pretty cool cocktails! You can try some unique options like the Playa II with passionfruit juice, reposado tequila, champagne foam and the Honey Bee with thai basil, clover honey, gin, sake.

Chef Fraser’s believes “that eating vegetarian or vegan should feel more celebration than sacrifice”, and we couldn’t agree more!

It’s surely a lifestyle we love, and that our Founder, , is pretty much a part of. Plus, if you are a bit skeptic about it, how about opening your head and maybe just trying it out? Won’t hurt and it might surprise you!

Nix opens for lunch, dinner and weekend brunches!

Dinner: Monday – Thursday: 5.30pm – 11pm | Friday & Saturday: 5pm – 11pm | Sunday: 5pm – 10.30pm

Curiosities Insider Interviews Tamara Peterson by SweatEngine

This week, our Founder talked to the beautiful lifestyle, food and travel Instagrammer, Tamara Peterson (@_TamaraPeterson).

Tamara is a native New Yorker, born and raised in NY. For the past 10 years, she’s been living in the charming Brooklyn neighborhood called Clinton Hill and she did confess her deepest love for it.

Her friends and followers are always asking her “why” they haven’t seen these gorgeous townhouses with amazing façades she always posts. Her answer? “You haven’t been to Fort Greene and Clinton Hill in Brooklyn!”

Tamara started her Instagram page, that has now over 187k, around 3.5 years ago as a hobby and it eventually started growing and becoming her second business. Her main work was as a professional organizer for 15 years, but now she works equal time between both businesses, definitely making her days pretty busy!

Her exciting professional life doesn’t stop there! In addition, she also has a background in Fashion working for Glamour Magazine!

The Instagram hobby brought her several new, amazing work possibilities related to travel. In May, she was invited by Viking Cruises to go on a breathtaking 15 day trip that passed through fascinating places like: Norway, Denmark, Germany, Poland, Estonia, Russia, Finland, Sweden and during her last week, before coming back to NY, she added a quick visit through London and Paris. Can’t complain, right?!

Now, in August, she’ll be exploring the Hudson Valley, in upstate New York. So, keep your eyes opened and check her Instagram feed to find out more about this stunning region in the State of NY.

Tamara shared with us her Top 7 Tips of place in her “hood”, so get your Metro Passes out and come explore them!

Colonia Verde

Curiosities Insider Interviews Tamara Peterson Colonia Verde

“Colonia Verde is a small restaurant in Fort Greene which I love. I’m always there and love sitting outside – they have a lovely garden in the back that you’d never expect to find. It’s the type of place that transforms you when you leave the city and go into Brooklyn.”

As they say in Spanish “La comida compartida sabe major!”…which means “Shared food tastes much better!” The restaurant has a clear Latin American inspiration and offers a menu with the most delicious locally sourced fresh ingredients. They have great brunches, but are opened mostly for dinner.

Oh! And they offer Full Catering Services and Event Services too, so do take a look online and contact them for further information.

For more pictures and information, see our post on Colonia Verde.

“Maison-May is a new place, and it’s adorable. They have a restaurant and a more casual café. It’s incredible. They have home items, pastry, coffee, amazing wooden tables I love. Definitely a hidden gem.”

Maison-May is explained as: “physically, two distinct places: Maison-May Dekalb & Maison-May Vanderbilt. They were founded and are led by Catherine May. They’re retelling the story of what the restaurant business is all about. Maison-May is an ethos, a way of operating rooted in replenishing, feeding & empowering. More than a business model, Maison-May is a way of living.”

So, Maison-May Vanderbilt has breakfast and lunch, a café, a patisserie, plus they offer private dinners, a drop-off menu and sell some beautiful home objects.

Maison-May Dekalb offers dinners, brunches on the weekends, they rent the space for private events and is a beautiful spot for a small, intimate ‘brownstone wedding’.

Last year we wrote about this event and here it is, again! Wanderlust 108 is the world’s only mindful triathlon. The 2016 edition will be even better and more exciting!

Take a look at what Wanderlust 108 is all about:

“Wanderlust 108 is a field day for your mind, body and soul. Hold the plastic trophy, because we have better prizes: vibrant community, self-awareness and inner peace. Community instead of competition? You can’t beat that.”

5k Run: You just have to make it to the finish line. You can run, or walk…or enjoy the 5k as you wish. If you’ve never tried running, this might be quite entertaining.

Yoga: Here again, you don’t need to be an expert. If you a yoga expert, or if you it’ll be your first time on a mat, just listen to the DJ’s music and enjoy. It’s a 75 minute yoga flow experience.

Meditation: For 30 minutes, you’ll enjoy a guided mediation that will you calm you mind and your body. It will give you stillness and clarity.

Voilá! That’s is the complete program of a mindful triathlon!

“From DJs on the main stage to lawn activities like hooping, slacklining and acroyoga, to local food and craft vendors, there’s plenty to do when you’re not on your mat. Nationally recognized teachers, speakers and musical talent are featured at each event to make for a fun-filled day.

Manhattan By Woody Allen Is A Definite Must-See

Curiosities City Secrets Manhattan by Woody Allen

Manhattan has been scene of so many films, series and the theme in countless songs and poetries. One of the most famous films is Manhattan by Woody Allen. Definitely a must-see!

One of the most famous pictures in the history of New York, is the one you see above.

In short, it’s a “picture taken in 1979 during the shooting of the movie ‘Manhattan‘ showing American director and actor Woody Allen with the American actress Diane Keaton in front of Queensborough Bridge, in New York.”

We shot a YouTube video of the Most Iconic And Instagrammable Movie Locations in NYC, and we show you how to get to this spot!

Below is a more detailed description:

“Manhattan is a 1979 American romantic comedy-drama film directed by Woody Allen from his screenplay co-written with Marshall Brickman and produced by Charles H. Joffe.

Allen co-stars as a twice-divorced 42-year-old comedy writer dating a 17-year-old girl (Mariel Hemingway) before eventually falling in love with his best friend’s (Michael Murphy) mistress (Diane Keaton). Meryl Streep and Anne Byrne also star in the film.

Manhattan was filmed in black-and-white and 2.35:1 widescreen. The decision to shoot in black and white was to give New York City a “great look.”

The film also features music composed by George Gershwin, including Rhapsody in Blue, which inspired the idea behind the film. Allen described the film as a combination of his previous two films, Annie Hall and Interiors.

The film was met with widespread critical acclaim and was nominated for two Academy Awards: Best Supporting Actress for Hemingway and Best Writing, Screenplay Written Directly for the Screen for Allen and Brickman.”

In addition, see below the official trailer of the movie:

If you enjoy these super iconic movies that have revolutionized the film industry and even an entire generation, you will love the TriBeCa Film Festival. So, stay tuned to see the line up for the upcoming year!

And last, you might also love these outdoor movie screening that happen during the summer in New York! One of them is called Summer Screen!

Have fun!

Beyond his authentic style on a BMX bike we love him because, like us, he loves his hometown: NYC!

Besides being super influential within the BMX scene, Ed is also a photographer and a lover of the urban culture we experience in everyday NYC.

His photography reflects moments that you can only see in New York and they are packed with tones of character. Though we couldn’t find where we can get one of his prints…

As he says: “I can take more pain than you because I fall down for a living”.

Ed, you are now our favorite athlete!

UNFORTUNATELY THIS BUSINESS IS PERMANENTLY CLOSED!

If you follow our account for a while, you DO know that this type of post never shows up.

On the other hand, this is NOT a paid post, ok? The thing is, we were invited by a good friend to try out this food delivery service. So, since it’s quite cold outside and we were feeling very lazy to cook, we decided order in. Fair enough…

The service is called Munchery. They offer “nourishing, affordable, chef-cooked meals delivered right to your door”. We loved the concept at first sight!

The dishes are amazing, done by different chefs. You can filter the available dishes for the day selecting filters like: Vegetarian, Vegan, Gluten-Free, Dairy-Free and Nut-Free. You can also select Entrées, Sides, Kids, Deserts, Breakfast and Drinks!

Now, after selecting it online and as soon as the payment was processed, they took literally less than 10 minutes to arrive! And, the food was super fresh and very tasty!!! WE really enjoyed the service, the food’s quality and presentation, since we do enjoy eating super healthy!

If you’d like to try it out, you have $20 off your first meal, since I’m inviting you through my personal profile! You might also want to directly to their website and type a Code when you get to the payment processing: T4KFB73F.

Before anyone mentions…YES, we do get credit for people who sign up. But, believe us, we’re are only doing this because we really enjoyed their food and service.

We bought a bunch of food through our friend’s Code and payed only the delivery. That to say, the food has a super fair price too!!!

Let us know your feedback after using this healthy food delivery service!

Lastly, if you’re brave enough to leave your home, and enjoy healthy food, go to Forager’s City Grocer. We love them and they have a fantastic selection of healthy, organic, locally source food.

Have you heard about Flora Brook? Well, if not, let us tell you a bit more!

To start, the founder, Caroline Lahti told us recently:

“I’d say the most unique aspect of our company is how much we focus on customization. We deal very closely with each client and get to know them personally to really grasp their style along with suiting the space they’re trying to fill perfectly.”

Caroline’s love for flowers date back to her teenage life. It extended to her college years, where she always ended up working at with florists. Furthermore, this work actually united 3 things she loves the most – people, design, and nature. But, it does reflect her early years living upstate New York, in the woods!

As time went by, her entrepreneur spirit grew bigger and she decided to open her own New York based flower company!

Voilá! Flora Brooklyn was created!

Their philosophy is:

“To integrate elements of the natural world into the hectic day-to-day of modern life.”

In addition, one of Caroline’s passions, within this work, is the possibility of experiencing the different seasons. Each, bring it’s own unique element and characteristics, making it all very exciting.

So, when making one of a king arrangements for a client’s home, giving it life and care; or prepping for an event where guests will be mesmerized with the flower selection, Flora Brook is on the top of our list! As we said, she’s an amazing NYC florist.

Her creations are beautifully done and will definitely bring life into your home!

If you need assistance and an additional pair of hands to organize an upcoming private celebration or a corporate event, let it all to our experts. Granted that we do have the best suppliers that will cater to all your needs, making it all memorable!

Shop Home and Kids MoveMent APP Manhattan Skyline Hudson River

Apartment hunting in New York City can be draining and overwhelming, but Movement APP will make the entire process seamless.

Shop Home and Kids MoveMent APP Manhattan Skyline Hudson River

UNFORTUNATELY THIS APP IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE!

There is nothing more tiring than apartment hunting in New York City. Options are endless, amenities vary immensely and neighborhoods can be confusing. Plus, commuting is always an issue, prices can vary a lot within just a few streets and it seams like an endless process.

We feel exhausted just by writing about it! In this new technological world, it was about time that someone launched a good app to fulfill all these issues!

Movement APP was introduced to the market on May of 2014. It’s a great platform for apartment hunting through a mobile device.

Something that might eventually help to curb the misery of the apartment search experience.

Shop Home and Kids MoveMent APP Technology Screens

When it launched, it listed just under 2,000 apartments in the city. But, there is definitely room to grow. The New York’s 5 boroughs are overflowing with options.

So, after you log into the app, you immediately see a wide range of available apartments.

You’ll be able to see the address, price and bedroom/bathroom count for each to start your research!

Movement is on the right track to becoming the premier search engine for apartment hunting in New York City.

And, we do hope they follow on strong!

Read a little more about them:

“Known as the app to finally put landlords, brokers and the public on equal ground. Explore (public) and post (brokers & landlords) live geotagged videos/photos of apartments for rent.

  • Browse quality listings on a beautiful, smart & simple feed;
  • The only Real Estate portal that gives you access to view real time videos;
  • Our database is comprised of only quality listings that are verified by geotagging and captured in real time through our app;
  • Manage your listings: brokers and landlords can syndicate to Zillow & Realtor.com their Movement Listings from the app.

AFTER 7 YEARS, UNFORTUNATELY THEY’VE DECIDED TO STOP PUBLISHING INVENTORY!

The founders focus on exploring a unique and global perspective on design, craftsmanship and culture, instead of only scouting trends.

Furthermore, the goal is to offer an experience based on brands, designers and artists that have the commitment to quality and desire for innovation!

The magazine emphasizes on accomplished journalism and amazing imagery. In addition, they are working to represent contemporary icons alongside future influencers.

So, guided by the same principles, the Inventory store offers a carefully considered selection of brands, publications and objects. They are all available online and at retail spaces in New York and Vancouver. You can also find them at Dover Street Market’s London and Tokyo locations.

Unfortunately, they’ve decided to stop publishing the magazine in 2016.

Below you can see the letter written by Ryan Willms, the Founder:

“Inventory Magazine: 2009-2016 — After seven years, we’ve decided to stop publishing Inventory. We’re extremely grateful to everyone that has supported the magazine by advertising with us or selling it in their stores; to those of you that have purchased a copy; and to the people and brands that have helped to bring our pages to life over the course of thirteen issues.

Making this magazine has been such a valuable experience. The lessons learned, knowledge gained, and relationships cemented will never be replaced, and it’s a journey that I’ll remember forever. Due to the content and the people involved, it’s been a very personal project from the start, and I have to say the biggest thank you to my colleagues along the way. Plus, I want to acknowledge the pivotal work of Simon Roe from the beginning to the very end, as well as the roles played by Philip Watts and Owen Parrott, Stephen Mann and Anthony Hooper, Matthew Klassen and Chris Allen. Without your dedication Inventory would not have reached the same heights.

I look back on the legacy of what we’ve created with awe and pride, but the publishing landscape has shifted and it feels like the right time to move on, to conclude things with arguably our best issue, and pursue new challenges and opportunities.

Sincerely,
Ryan Willms”

We wish you guys all the best and can’t wait to see your upcoming projects!

With design in mind, you might want to take a look at a post we did about Bang & Olufsen. They have a fantastic vintage collection that will enrich your home’s design.
