Jason Naylor: 7 Best NYC Secret Spots By A Multitalented Artist

Curiosities Insider Interviews Jason Naylor Live Life Colorfully

We interviewed the multitalented artist, Jason Naylor, and learned about his journey, his upcoming projects and also his 7 best NYC secret spots! Check it all out below!

Today we bring you a fantastic interview with Jason Naylor! We’re sure many of you are already huge fans – as we are – and, have seen his work throughout New York City.

But, did you know that Jason is a multitalented artist? He is not only the Creative Director at his design company, but also a brand consultant, an artist, a designer and also, an illustrator. Phiuf!

He told us a bit about his journey:

“Well, I was born in Salt Lake City, Utah. My mother is an artist, and so I spent my youth making art and entering art contests.

Curiosities Insider Interviews Jason Naylor Ice Cream

I always did well in art class and that evolved into going to Design School and studying Communication & Graphic Design. This sort of led to the designs I now use in my art, which are very typographic and design heavy.

My work ranges from graphic designs and paintings as well as illustration, to video and digital graphics. I currently am in a very colorful kick and love holographic colors and rich blacks.

I just finished a collaboration with COACH, where I used their logo to create a massive, colorful LOVE mural. The bright colors and blacks came together nicely to shape that piece, and the colors really fortify the message of love.

What better to explain love in a piece of art than bright colors, right?

In addition, I have a pretty cool series of projects coming up this spring, where I’ll work with schools to develop messages of empowerment and then paint the messages as murals on the walls of the playgrounds.

This will start to come together hopefully in the next few weeks, so I’m pretty stoked on that!”

Check out his breathtaking work on his website: http://jasonnaylorcreative.com

Now, take a look at his 7 best NYC secret spots:

Best unexpected date spot – LGA Airport

“Watching the planes land at LGA. Ok, if you don’t know about this, its SPECTACULAR.

Across the street from the Enterprise car rental at LGA, there’s a small park that overlooks both the freeway and the runway… and it’s the closest place you can get to the planes landing.

It’s literally like 100ft from where they land, and you can sit on the bench and watch / listen to the planes come in. It’s riveting. Great date spot too!”

Best hotdog – Anchored Inn

Curiosities Insider Interviews Jason Naylor Anchored Inn

“The Anchored Inn is in Bushwick, Brooklyn. Little “divey” metal bar with a great kitchen. Amazing hotdog – a must try. Get the cheese fries too, you won’t be bummed.”

Their menu serves Mexican-American food, the décor is pretty cool, they have a few pool tables (FYI, we LOVE playing pool) and pinball machines.

As they say, it’s “a place to get fed and drunk”.

“I am not even going to say anything about Carthage Must Be Destroyed. You just have to go with at most one other person, or maybe just by yourself, and have lunch. It will change your perspective on the word beautiful.

This place doesn’t have a street sign, so pay attention when you’re looking for it. It’s really something! From the outside you’d never expect to see what’s inside.

As Jason said, we’ll let you go and experience it yourself!

Best dinner – Beco Bar

Curiosities Insider Interviews Jason Naylor Beco Bar

“I always order the Brazilian Steak at Beco Bar, in Greenpoint. Bring cash, for it’s cash-only. Put plenty of salt on your meat and be sure to order their famous Pão de Queijo too!”

We’ve written about Beco before and posted about them countless times, and our Founder, Fê Paronetto, is also literally always there.

They have been chosen by locals as one of the neighborhood’s favorite to-go spots and it can get quite busy! Besides the fantastic food and specialty Brazilian cocktail drinks – like the Caipirinha and the Batida de Coco, they still have awesome live music performances.

One of our favorites bands is Regional de Nova York that plays the traditional Brazilian “Chorinho” music. This happens every other Sunday afternoon!

Best secret place to watch NYC fireworks – Parking lot at Western Beef

“At the edge of Ridgewood there’s a grocery wholesaler called Western Beef. The parking lot sits on a hill and has a view of the entire city.

You can see ALL the fireworks that happen just by parking in the parking lot and hanging by the fence. It’s not the closest view, but you can see them all, as well as the NYC skyline, and it’s pretty quiet.”

Location: 47-05 Metropolitan Avenue

Best Bar – Boobie Trap

“My friend owns this bar called Boobie Trap, and I designed a lot of the stuff in the place including the logo, which has boobs!!! You can also sit in my chair which is covered in art!!!”

Yes, this place is quite something!

Be sure to observe the details around the bar…you’ll certainly have a great time uncovering each one of them!

We also uncovered a few other curiosities about Jason:

Read below to get deeper into Jason’s journey. He shared more about his murals, his inspirations, what he enjoys working on the most, where we can find his murals around New York, which are his favorite artists and still, his passion with tattoos!

How did you start working with painting murals and what was the first one you did?

“The first mural I did was in 2013 – a producer friend called me in panic with an event for Microsoft at SXSW and their graphics for the event fell through.

She asked if I could get graphics up on the wall for the space as I had done that a lot before for brands – you know, design graphics to be printed on vinyl and wrapped on to walls.

But there was no time to have them printed so I offered to paint a mural on the wall during the event. I assumed it couldn’t be that hard? Get the right supplies and get to work?

So, I did, and it was a huge success, and they brought be back the next year to do it again! Meanwhile, I was hooked on large scale. Never looked back.”

Curiosities Insider Interviews Jason Naylor Studio

What are your inspirations to create these fantastic art works? Does your hometown of Salt Lake City have a part in it?

“Well, I’m inspired by anything uplifting. I like a ‘feel good’ vibe, and I like to brighten things with color and positivity. So quotes, motivational speaking, self help… these things inspire me, as well as anything colorful.

My upbringing I’m sure plays a big part, but that is a very long story, LOL. Suffice it say that I am happy about where I came from and happy about where I am now, and I feel inspired by anything that is optimistic or positive.”

You are gifted with so many expertise, from doodles, logos, typography, design, etc…what do you most enjoy doing?

“First of all, thank you! I honestly enjoy the range of things I do. The variety enables me to put all my love into each project, as it keeps things fresh and never feeling tiresome or old.

I think diversity in mediums and tools and projects keeps me on my toes, as well.”

Where can people find your murals around New York?

“On 16th Street with 6th Avenue, 60th Street with 2nd Avenue, Houston with 1st – 2nd  Avenues (in the park), Orchard & Houston (the ice cream shop gate), Bowery & Hester, Suffolk & Delancey,  (collaboration with HekTad).

Also, in Queens, on Queens Blvd with 46th Street and in Brooklyn, across from Kings Plaza.”

This is tough, but what are some of your favorites works?

“Ohhh. Well. I love Tristan Eaton murals. Insanely cool and well planned. I love the photography of Nick Knight. I love Kaws, so smart and James Jean, his magical illustrations make me swoon.”

How about your tattoos? Are they all your drawings? If not, how do you choose the tattoo artist to be part how these drawing come to life?

“The only tattoo that I drew is the first one. I drew and re drew it 100 times before getting it tattooed.

Now, I’ve learned that you have to enable the tattoo artist some creative liberty, if you want a good tattoo. So, I try to selects artists based on their portfolio, style etc…and talk it through with them.

They know how your ideas will come out on the 3D surface of your body. Sometimes flat art doesn’t translate, and it’s best to let the artist do his/her thing!”

Jason, we had a great time interviewing you and learning more about your journey, your work, your 7 best NYC secret spots and all the upcoming exciting news!

UNFORTUNATELY THIS RESTAURANT IS PERMANENTLY CLOSED!

“I love Miss Paradis in SoHo – prefect for catching up with a friend or two. Nosh on small plates and sip on rose — it adorns the walls of the place. I love the burrata!”

Miss Paradis opened just a while ago, in November of 2016. The place is beautifully designed by Philippe Starck and serves super healthy, seasonal food. Moreover, the dishes are works of art and creatively presented.

They are well-known for their Rosé labels, so we do recommend trying the cocktails on their list. And, as they say: “don’t expect to skip dessert!”

Takoyaki

In New York city, you’ll find surprises around every corner, especially when it comes to culinary treats, such as this popular Japanese snack called “Takoyaki.” What is the most interesting street food you’ve tried?

Posted by Rosetta Stone on Thursday, December 1, 2016

UNFORTUNATELY THIS SPOT IS PERMANENTLY CLOSED!

“I stumbled on this gem of a Takoyaki stand on Doyers Street in Chinatown. You’ll get hungry watching the video I made (above).”

If you go to New York, you have to be opened to trying the different street food you’ll find along your way. Plus, if they are literally a hole in the wall, it’s even better.

Hidden in one of Chinatown’s most famous streets, Takoyaki opens only for a few hours during the weekends, so you need to be sure to pass by.

What to try? Maybe a little of everything! Their octopus dumpling is on the top of our list. Prices are super fair, so don’t worry.

Hours: Saturday & Sunday: 12pm – 6pm

Location: 5 Doyers Street

We love uncovering some unique, behind the scenes places to stay. Some of them might not be a secret anymore, but they are still relatively new and hosting only a pretty cool crowd. The 11 Howard is one of the coolest NY boutique hotels, located in SoHo.

So, let’s start talking about it’s location. The 11 Howard hotel is at one of the best neighborhoods in the city: SoHo. It’s is one of the busiest neighborhoods, but perfect for people that come to New York for shopping, for good dining spots and that enjoy a never ending nightlife.

As soon as you enter the hotel, you can immediately feel the upscale, trendy vibe. The décor is minimalistic, but the design elements are all around. As they say: “where Danish minimalism meets New York realism”. We love it!

All around the hotel, you’ll be able to find unique works of art and design furniture that gives it that cool, trendy aspect.

On the first floor, that you can access by going up a black staircase to your left side, as you walk into the hotel, you’ll find two different areas. The first is the coveted bar and lounge, The Blond. Our contributor, Joey Zauzig, wrote about it as soon as it opened.

At The Blond, you’ll probably bump into models, famous actors, famous designers, kids with big last names and a very stylish, high-end crowd. So, be prepared to mingle (or not). The ambience is quite intimate, with dim lights, dark décor and furnishing, red and blue velvet sofas, a beautiful and massive full bar and a mix of wood and golden details.

Right beside The Blond, you’ll see another room called The Library. This social space is actually open all day and is free to the public. They offer free wifi, communal and private tables and a nice menu for bites and drinks. Décor is really great and welcoming. Many people there are working, having business meetings, or just relaxing for a while before hitting the crazy New York streets. The walls are filled with the photographic work by the renowned Japanese artist, Hiroshi Sugimoto.

Oh! And every Saturday, from 6pm – 7pm, they offer complimentary wine.

The hotel also boasts itself for housing one of the top New York City restaurants, named Le Coucou. The menu offers a selection of classic French dishes. Simple, but amazing, after all “less is more”. The space is very charming and easy on the eyes. Every corner was thought out with great attention by the renowned NYC-based design studio Roman and Williams. Entrance is on 138 Lafayette Street.

Their infrared spa, HigherDOSE, is certainly something to experience. They explain that:

“DOSE stands for dopamine, oxytocin, serotonin, and endorphins. These are the feel good chemicals that can get released by your brain when you are inside of an infrared sauna—helping you high off of your own supply. In addition to feeling euphoric, infrared saunas help detox heavy metals from your body, promote healthy sleep cycles, promote a healthy glow for your skin, reduce muscle tension, and help you burn calories.”

Pretty interesting, right?

The Rooms and Suites are fantastic. The decoration is definitely up our alley. You can expect a clean décor, with neutral colors, oak floors, 11-foot ceilings, art works by international sculptures and artists, bamboo details (like the rugs) and custom-made furnitures. In addition, the bathroom is stocked with amazing organic beauty products. You can also create-your-own minibar featuring products from Conscious Commerce and Thrive Market.

And still, there is an additional and maybe the most important element of all, in our point of view!

The hotel works with Conscious Hospitality. What does this mean? They are part of the Global Poverty Project:

“11 Howard is a partner with Global Poverty Project whose mission is a world without extreme poverty by 2030. By Booking your stay directly with us, a portion of your room rate will be donated to GPP to help fight extreme poverty and inequality around the world.”

Lastly, they have a few additional collaborations with companies and organizations like: Oliver Gustav Studio – with a unique curation of modern, design, limited edition pieces and Feed Project – founded in 2007 ‘with the simple idea of creating products that would engage people in the fight against hunger in a tangible way’.

We love it all, so enjoy and be sure to indulge yourself in the entire experience offered at 11 Howard. Certainly one of our recommendations if you’re looking for the top behind the scenes NY boutique hotels.

Luca and Georgia came to NY many years ago for a quick 3 months experience. They worked in a few bars and coffee shops before moving back to Sardinia. On the side, Luca also played Jazz music for some extra cash – he plays the trumpet!

After a while, they couldn’t get New York City out of their heads, decided to come back and in 2005 opened Epistrophy – a restaurant with Sardinian-inspired recipes.

A huge portion of the restaurant was actually built by Luca and his former boss and friend, Leo. Luca explained that:

“Every year we revamp the place without losing its soul. This way, our customers won’t be upset and we maintain our essence.”

The dishes we tried were:

  • Quinoa Salad with kale, beet, squash, chickpea, avocado and radish
  • Avocado Toast
  • Vegan pasta with vegetables
  • For dessert, a banana muffin with fruits

We can’t forget about the beautiful rustic décor! Just like we enjoy it, with beautiful metal and wooden tables, a gorgeous full bar, and a cute waiting area that reminds us of a home.

For the lovers of the traditional 20’s-30’s Jazz, every Sunday night they offer live music!

And the coolest things is: every 1st Sunday, Luca himself plays too! I mean: How cool is it to have the owner himself play music to his guests!? We love it! By the way, he has a few records already if you want to check these out!

We’re sure you’ll love this place and we can’t wait to go back!

If you’re going to explore Brooklyn, be sure to visit their sister restaurant in Greenpoint called Le Fanfare! And take a look at the YouTube video we’ve done there as well!

Antonia Greco: A Love Guru Uncovers NYC’s Dating Scene

Curiosities Insider Interviews Antonia Greco NYC Dating Expert

Lets talk about Dating in New York City?! Everyone knows about the “rumors” about NYC’s dating scene and how different it is from the rest of the world! Antonia Greco tell us about the best spots to hang out, if you’re single!

Curiosities Insider Interviews Antonia Greco NYC Dating Expert
Photo Credit: Courtesy of Gary He

If you’ve just moved to this beautiful, tireless city, or if you’ve been in New York City long enough, you will notice two topics that will always (and we mean, always!) come up during dinners or bar conversations:

  1. RENT! It’s amazing how people are eager to know how much you pay for rent and all the amenities you have in your building to justify the high prices. Note: It does not matter if they just met you, they WILL boldly ask…
  2. DATING! The “Dating Scene” in New York is, without a doubt, unique and different from anywhere else on this planet! It’s a battle to figure out all the do’s and don’ts, right? So, after you do, and everything seams to be flowing well with your beau…BOOM! The guy dumps you…

With the Dating topic in mind, our Contributor Ari Crane interviewed Antonia Greco from Loved Tapped. She is a NYC-based Dating and Relationship Expert. She is also the co-author of “Who Lies More, Men or Women? 6 Ways to Succeed in Dating, Relationships, and Life”.

Over the past eight years, Antonia’s worked one-on-one with clients of all ages to help them meet partners, date successfully, and has had a helping hand in several marriages.

In her spare time, she likes to run, fuss over cute dogs, play piano and bake pies.

“A question I often get asked by singles is ‘Where can I go to meet people?’ — Simply put, you can meet people anywhere you go. It’s just a matter of having the guts to open the dialogue and/or be approachable. That said, it’s beneficial to pick places that reflect something about your lifestyle, your passions, or something new you’d like to try.”

Here are Antonia’s top picks in the City! Do check them out and, who knows, maybe you’ll find your partner in crime, for life.

Hu Kitchen

Curiosities Insider Interviews Antonia Greco Hu Kitchen by Iwan Baan for Medibank

Rotate this place into your weekly lunch or dinner schedule and be sure to treat yourself to the house-made Almond Butter truffles!”

Not only all the ingredients are fantastic and super healthy, but they also produce their own delicious chocolate bars.

They have a huge list of “What they don’t have”, but there are just a few, so you get the vibe: NO Conventional Sweeteners, NO Gluten, NO Soy, NO GMO Corn, NO Commercial Lecithins, NO Preservatives…

B-Cup

Curiosities Insider Interviews Antonia Greco B-Cup

“Whether you’re “working remotely” or in the mood for a chill place to enjoy some coffee, look no further than B-Cup. This hip little haunt is tucked away in Alphabet City and is the “office” for many singles. With free, reliable wi-fi and iced coffees served in carafes, this friendly space is a mix of funky and accommodating. Bonus: Most people come here alone so it’s the perfect place to table share during the busier hours!”

Alphabet City is part of what most people know as the East Village. The area is very residential, but it is the home of several bars, cocktail spots and super cool restaurants. The area is filled with life and great spots to uncover.

Their park is called Tompkins Square Park. You might recall it from the post we wrote about a Feeding Program our Founder coordinates, feeding 200 homeless every week!

The area has also a significant Puerto Rican community, that definitely brings an uplifting vibe. After all, we know how cheerful Puerto Ricans are, right!?

The restaurant was launched in 1995, in Flushing, Queens.

And, in no time, it became a hot spot for soup dumplings and crab pork meat!

“For a quick afternoon getaway, hop in the car and head up to Fishkill Farms, in the Hudson Valley. Depending on the time of year, there are plenty of fruits and vegetables to pick. Apple season is my favorite and their organic varieties are out of this world.”

Carly has been to Fishkill Farms several times – notice the different seasons in the pictures.

It’s a third generation Hudson Valley farm with ecologically-grown fruits and vegetables, with over 100 years!

The farm store and pick-your-own are open from 9am-6pm.

Here are a few other fun questions we asked Carly:

What does NYC mean to you?
“It sounds cliche, but I think NYC really does mean opportunity. Not only do you have the chance to make it in almost any career you could possibly imagine, but there are also so many opportunities for experiences. No matter what time it is, or what day it is, or what neighborhood you’re in, there’s something interesting and exciting going on.”

What will a New Yorker never tell someone?
“If you’re in a pinch and need to use a restroom, skip the $5 Starbucks coffee toll and pop into a hotel lobby instead. They’re generally easy to locate and super clean.”

What piece of advice would you give someone that just moved to NYC?
“Get an unlimited MetroCard and commit to exploring different neighborhoods. I like to pick a restaurant or park in a spot I’ve never been to and then do some exploring before and after my visit.”

Maria Bonita Salon & Spa: For A Brazilian Beauty Style

We have to confess that we’re pretty picky when it comes to beauty products and specially services. A good product can be copied, but a good service is very hard to replicate.

Maria Bonita Spa & Salon was founded in 2003 by Fernanda Lacerda. It has been considered the to-go-salon in Soho for all the Brazilian beauties that live or come to New York City.

The other day we experimented a few services we were curious about and after the fantastic results, decided to share it with you.

We started with a fabulous Gold & Diamond Facial that lasted over 1 hour.  We were “taken to heaven” and brought back. This treatment is used to “treat light scarring, discoloration, sun damage and stretch marks. It helps to thicken your collagen, reducing fine lines and wrinkles, which result in younger looking complexion.”  Virginia de Oliveira was the expert facialist behind the technique.

After the facial, we had a manicure. It’s hard to explain how different Brazilian professional do manicure services, versus the NY spots we’ve been to.

Believe us, it’s as perfect at is can get, and it definitely lasts much longer.

Last, but surely not least, we finished with a blow out. This, again, was amazing!

We haven’t tried the Wax, but we’ve heard miracles about it by friends and powerful women we know. So, if you’re looking for a waxing spot, there is surely nothing like the Brazilian Wax.

To wrap up we do have to say that, different from the NYC style, Brazilian spots allow you to take your time and relax. Nothing is rushed, so every moment is fully indulged.

All professionals were fantastic, super caring and hot hearted – like every Brazilian we know!

Finally, to see what other talented and young Brazilians are up to in New York City, you’ll love this post.

We’ve worked with many people visiting NYC and corporate groups coming into the city, searching for leisure activities.

Let us know how we can help you or your company!

5 Healthy Food Spots In NYC To Eat Well Or Splurge

Dining 5 NYC Restaurants Gabriela Pugliesi BareBurger

We shared a few NYC restaurant tips exclusively for the Brazilian fitness blogger, Gabriela Pugliesi. Take a look at 5 healthy food spots in NYC where you can go to eat well or even, break your diet.

Today’s post today is a delicious one!

There is nothing better than talking about travel and food, right!?! So, if you’re coming to New York City, we’ve shared 5 great restaurants with the Brazilian Fitness Blogger, Gabriela Pugliesi, that should be added to your To-Go list!

Some are very healthy, and some are great places just to go when you feel like breaking your diet for the day!

A macrobiotic organic restaurant: Souen

Many will read “macrobiotic” and be immediately intimidated by the words. Don’t be!

In a nutshell, macrobiotic cooking is simply a term for identifying a food that is rich in whole grains, very healthy, that teaches us to be aware of what we eat. Why? The food we eat will become part of us – yes, it has ancient Japanese teachings behind this cuisine too! Plus, they do not use industrialized products. Moreover, there is still an explanation of macrobiotic food related to Ying-Yang, but we’ll not get into this now.

Well,  this cuisine is made up of whole grains, vegetables, sea vegetables, beans, fish and soups.

Whoever liked the brief description above, will love the Souen. With on location in the East Village – the restaurant was founded in 1971 and offers some of the city’s best natural organic and vegan foods.

It’s hard to say what to try, since anyone who enjoys healthy food will probably come back a few times to order different dishes. But, some of our suggestions are: the dishes with Seitan (wheat protein), the wheat noodles are delicious, the salmon and the cod are divine too. You can still add to your order a salad and other side dishes.

Ah! Be sure to order the gluten free desserts! It will certainly be a different experience.

Chic Vegan Spot: Pure Food & Wine

UNFORTUNATELY THIS RESTAURANT PERMANENTLY CLOSED!

Located at 54 Irving Place, Pure Food & Wine celebrated this year, 10 years!

Considered the 1st high-end vegan restaurant in New York, the menu is entirely based on vegetables. They do not use processed ingredients and nothing is heated above 118 degrees – thus it is possible to preserve the vitamins, minerals, and enzymes in the ingredients.

This restaurant is a great option for the lovers of healthy, vegan food, and also great for those who can’t eat gluten or lactose – neither of which are used on the menu.

In addition to the great take-out menu and an amazing presentation of the dishes, the ambience is super stylish with an outside area – certainly difficult to find in New York.

The waiters are very friendly and you certainly won’t stay for only 1 drink.

Farm to table: Market Table

Launched in 2007 and a huge success to date, Market Table is a restaurant with a farm-to-table menu.

Located on 54 Carmine Street, in the West Village, the restaurant is small, cozy, with impeccable service, giant windows and brick walls with that rustic feeling, serving healthy food. Their menu changes according to the season, so you’ll be sure to always have something new to try.

The kitchen is open, which gives the chef the pleasure of seeing the customer’s expression at their first bite! Certainly a thrill!

Dishes are simple, yet tasty and delicious. In the summer you can expect a menu with burrata, salads, seafood, vegetables and vegetables. In the winter, the food is a bit more full-bodied, like the pork rib dishes, but New York’s cold days call for these dishes too, right?

It’s a great place to go for dinner, or just go for a quick lunch. The wine list is very good too!

More than a restaurant, a lifestyle: M.O.B. – Maimonide of Brooklyn

UNFORTUNATELY THIS STORE PERMANENTLY CLOSED!

Brooklyn has got a new vegetarian restaurant called M.O.B. – Maimonide of Brooklyn. M.O.B. it’s not only a restaurant, but the story of this project is pretty cool too!

Before we speak of this place, we’ll quickly explain the name. Moses Maimonides, from which came the name “Maimonide”, was a Jewish physician, philosopher and religious man, born in Cordoba in 1135. One of his great studies was to understand the health benefits of various combinations of fruits, vegetables and seasonings.

The French restaurateur, Cyril Aouizerate, Founder of M.O.B., studied for many years the philosophies of Maimonides and the HipHop movement, until he decided finally open a store at 525 Atlantic Avenue, Boerum Hill, Brooklyn.

Cyril joined forces with Michelin-starred chefs, Alain Senderens and Jerome Banctel, and American chef Neal Harden to create the menu.

The main course, called the M.O.B., of course, is kind of tart with vegetables, fruits and spices, and is served on a tray and is shaped liked the Brooklyn Bridge. Must haves on the menu are: burgers, hot dogs, mac&cheese. Plus, the desserts are to die for.

The place still offers a complimentary Comic Books, created by Cyril himself. You’ll find children puzzles, M.O.B.’s story, texts and poems and a comic book where the protagonist is a boy that discovers that his power comes from a pill he takes, made of vegetables and fruits. Very cute!

In addition, every detail of the place was carefully thought about and the result was amazing.

Cyril hired the duo of punk architects, Kristian Gavoille and Valerie Garcia.

The tables are giant and communal, with several drawers, where you find chalk for children, cutlery, etc. One of the walls has a giant United States flag and on the other wall, hunting trophies with a short description of what was “hunted”, such as: “Miss. Banana, June 2008-August 2008, died for banana bread”, or “Mr. Avocado, 2009-2010, died for guacamole” and even “Mr. Potato, May 2009 – July 2009, died for french fries”!

They also have a great bar and a gift shop. Anyway, it’s surely a unique experience in Brooklyn!

Who says eating healthy can not be fun ?!

For the Burger-holics: BareBurger

Dining 5 NYC Restaurants Gabriela Pugliesi BareBurger

Do you ever crave and just enjoying breaking your diet with a juicy hamburger or cheeseburger? Most likely, yes! But, can you eat it free of guilt?

BareBurger has countless different locations and is an organic & all-natural restaurant serving burgers, snacks and shakes.

The menu has their famous burgers, delicious salads, other types of sandwiches, some snacks and incredible shakes. The cool thing is that, unlike some places where only the meat is organic, Bare Burger works with all organic products from eggs, dairy, cheese, etc.

Plus, their organic options range from chicken, turkey and lamb to exotic meats like bison, elk and ostrich.

These exotic meats are considered leaner and have more protein than traditional meats. Just be careful if you have cholesterol issues.

To accompany any of the dishes, you can still choose a wine or a beer. Also organic!
