The restaurant was launched in 1995, in Flushing, Queens.

And, in no time, it became a hot spot for soup dumplings and crab pork meat!

What to expect?

A specialty shop serving authentic Belgian fries, perfectly doubt cooked (yeah!), topped with countless tasty sauces.

Can life get better that this?

We don’t think so. Ha!

The store was launched in December of 2014 by Susanna Yoon, Founder and head chocolatier.

They offer over 24 unique flavored, hand made treats like bonbons, flavored caramels, chocolate truffles, crisp brittles, toffees, nougats, nut butters, and elegant small cakes.

“For a quick afternoon getaway, hop in the car and head up to Fishkill Farms, in the Hudson Valley. Depending on the time of year, there are plenty of fruits and vegetables to pick. Apple season is my favorite and their organic varieties are out of this world.”

Carly has been to Fishkill Farms several times – notice the different seasons in the pictures.

It’s a third generation Hudson Valley farm with ecologically-grown fruits and vegetables, with over 100 years!

The farm store and pick-your-own are open from 9am-6pm.

Here are a few other fun questions we asked Carly:

What does NYC mean to you?
“It sounds cliche, but I think NYC really does mean opportunity. Not only do you have the chance to make it in almost any career you could possibly imagine, but there are also so many opportunities for experiences. No matter what time it is, or what day it is, or what neighborhood you’re in, there’s something interesting and exciting going on.”

What will a New Yorker never tell someone?
“If you’re in a pinch and need to use a restroom, skip the $5 Starbucks coffee toll and pop into a hotel lobby instead. They’re generally easy to locate and super clean.”

What piece of advice would you give someone that just moved to NYC?
“Get an unlimited MetroCard and commit to exploring different neighborhoods. I like to pick a restaurant or park in a spot I’ve never been to and then do some exploring before and after my visit.”

Take a look at her website to follow her work and find her on her Social Media Channels!

“After toiling away as an economist on World Bank projects for a few years, my sister and I realized that our calling lied elsewhere – like many of our millennial peers, we started dabbling in the digital space.

We began blogging in late 2012 on our website Club Fashionista and that quickly grew into our own brand Amra & Elma, which now is the only influencer lead digital marketing agency. With our own 2.3M following and a network of over 300,000 consumer influencers, we specialize in making brands explode in the digital space.

Curiosities Insider Interviews Amra and Elma Elma Beganovich

Elma Beganovich

“When my career in law seemed to spiral into a rut and started looking like a dead-end job, I took a leap of faith (in myself mostly) and joined my sister Amra, who was working on her blog and digging deep in the social media and digital space.

Blogging soon grew into our careers as digital influencers, which then turned into our own namesake brand Amra & Elma – the only influencer founded digital media agency. We focus on social media and digital influencer marketing. We are proud of our own 2.3M following on social, and boast a network of over 300,000 consumer influencers, many of whom are our personal friends and colleagues.

As mentioned above, our goal is to help brands catch fire in the digital space, and our services include photo production with professional models and/or influencers, no-fee blogger program, social media management, and media outreach.

We have also contributed to some of the most prominent publications. I currently reside in New York City but enjoy traveling whenever possible in order to break free of the everyday and nurture my creativity.”

Via Quadronno is a traditional Italian restaurant, located on the Upper East Side of Manhattan.

It was founded in 1999. It’s known for being a paninoteca, serving truffled paninis and delicious homemade pastries paired with irresistible cappuccinos.

As they explain:

“Mankind trained dogs and pigs to sniff for white truffles, assisting in the quest for this heavenly treat. Wild boars don’t need training: they instinctively know how to locate truffles, for they have been enjoying them for millennia. It is the boar’s nose for truffles that helped fuel his reputation as the undisputed gourmet of the animal kingdom.”

“The Frick Collection is like a little oasis secluded from the business of Manhattan with its marvelous art and majestic garden spaces and sculptures. I would suggest going here to catch a break and for a little time travel into the early 1900s.”

We all know that New York City hosts some of the richest and most important museums in the world!

In addition, we know that it’s always tempting to visit all of them when you’re visiting the city. That is, if you’re interested in art, of course.

The Frick Collection is surely one of these great spots.

And, it showcases one of the most important collections of Western fine art today.

Curiosities Insider Interviews Amra and Elma Ralph Lauren Cafe by Habituallychic
Photo Credit: Courtesy of Habitually Chic
UNFORTUNATELY THIS COFFEE SHOP IS PERMANENTLY CLOSED!

“This is one of our favorite spots during NYFW as influencers all across the world gather here between shows to sip on their favorite coffee and tasty (and healthy) treats. The café is tucked away on the second floor of the store allowing one to catch a break during a busy day.”

We all know about the massive Ralph Lauren flagship store located in the heart of 5th Avenue.

But, not many people know about a tiny coffee shop inside it. It’s certainly a great space to escape the Manhattan chaos!

Their coffee ‘is certified organic, ethically and sustainably sourced’, which does make all the difference!

Location: 711 Fifth Avenue, 2nd Floor, Midtown

The West Village is surely one of the top 3 restaurants we most love in Manhattan. We are always around that area exploring new spots or just roaming around the beautiful streets.

It’s predominately a residential neighborhood, but the small shops, coffees and restaurants give it a lively vibe!

We love what the guys at The West Village Life doing to share the neighborhood’s beauty – picture are all theirs.

Location: Bleecker Street, West Village

To wrap up,  we asked them two fun questions:

What does NYC mean to both of you?
“I believe New York City means opportunity. Opportunity to feed off of the bustling energy and to learn from some of the most talented people in the world. It is a city where trends are started and dreams made. At the same time, one must stay weary and escape now and then and to catch a piece of mind and put it all into a perspective.

I think it is important to stay grounded and humbled. And, not to let so many of the temptations this city has to offer distract and interfere with one’s core values. Whatever the end-goal – why you came to this city – don’t even forget to take one day per week to yourself. And, just let loose and have fun.”

What would you girls tell a 1st timer in NY?
“I would share with a 1st timer in New York to take it all one step at a time. Also, to be more observant in order to learn rather than dive readily into action.

Also, I would tell him/her to enjoy the variety the city has to offer. From different districts to spectacular sites, like the views from the top of the Rockefeller Center and the Metropolitan Museum of Arts.

Finally, as mentioned above, don’t forget to go away now and then to catch your breath. Plus, let it all sink in to gain a better perspective on life and to prosper personally and in your career.”

Thank you Amra and Elma for being part of our Insider Interviews and sharing your favorite spots in NY!

This post is for the adventurous, confident, modern and specially effortlessly elegant gals out there!

We know that buying jewelry is much more that only “a random shopping moment”. Buying jewelry is a memorable experience or, at least, it’s supposed to be!

When we work with our clients and take them to their Private Jewelry & Consultation with the most exclusive designers in New York, we definitely make it an unforgettable experience.

If you’re a guy, and your lady sounds pretty much like the description above, continue reading too!

Hueb is a Brazilian jewelry brand that started over 3 generations ago, by a strong, entrepreneurial woman called Fadua Hueb. Fadua believed that a jewelry is surely a statement piece for a woman, but it should compliment her personal style instead of defining it.

The brand has a clear inspiration in Brazil’s natural beauty and energy. In addition, they work with some of the most skilled artisans today. Stones range from high-grade diamonds, to the stunning Brazilian gems.

They are currently working with a unique mix of collections. Here a few:

Mirage, that uses stones like emeralds, rubies, tanzanites and sapphires creating an unexpected mix.

White Dreams showers the pieces with diamonds, while Bon Voyage pairs these diamonds with perfectly formed pearls creating an adventurous collection.

If you adore the Renaissance period, the Labyrinth Collection will definitely keep you in a constant state of “awe”.

But, if you’re connected to nature, the Apus Collection is inspired by the Amazonian bird’s vibrant plumage.

Last, but surely not least, the Gala Collection. It will offer you a journey into the graceful world of ballerinas, with a mix of special diamonds and pearls.

After all, “Luxury should be inspiring and celebratory, not intimidating”, as the Hueb Founders explain!  As we said, perfect for the New York women.

Once again, if you want to learn about our Jewelry Shopping & Consultation Services, have private sessions with the brand’s founders and have an adventurous journey into the Jewelry universe, contact us!

A Glimps Into Our Past By Photographer Diane Arbus At The Met Breuer

Culture Music Diane Arbus The Met Breuer

The photographer Diane Arbus has always been a favorite artist of mine, so I am really excited about this new exhibit featuring more than 100 never-before-seen images of hers.

Culture Music Diane Arbus The Met Breuer

Her daughters, Doon and Amy, donated her photographs to the Met in the year of 2007.

The exhibition focuses on the first 7 years of her career, that takes place from 1956 – 1972. This is the period in which she developed the idiosyncratic style for which she is recognized, praised, criticized and copied.

Most of the images she took were in New York City where she lived and died. So, they are also a new glimpse into our past.

The exhibition will be on view at The Met Breuer through November 27, 2016.”

Diane Arbus was born in 1923, in New York City. She started her photographic career with her husband, Allan. Both hated the fashion industry, but did remarkable photoshoots for publications like Glamour, Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar.

When Arbus decided to quit commercial fashion photography, she roamed the streets of NY in search of intriguing people to shoot.

She is known for capturing moments with marginalized crowd. Arbus searched for gays, transgenders, dwarfs, nudists and other remarkable beings!

Her work is fantastic and shows the beauty of these communities. Of course, back then, society was not open minded to accept “different” people. Unfortunately her pictures were labeled as disturbing and strange.

She had her life portrayed by Nicole Kidman in the 2006 film, “Fur: An Imaginary Portrait of Diane Arbus“. The film shows how she fell in love with Lionel Sweeney, her neighbor that suffered from a strange disease called Hypertrichosis. It’s an abnormal amount of hair growth all over the person’s body. The fictional character exemplifies all the people she’s photographed. In a way, they all tormented her life.

So, in 1971, Diane Arbus committed suicide, but her work just thundered out to the world in the upcoming years. To this date, she is a powerful name.

Plus, if you want further information on Diane Arbus’s work, Artsy has great information. You’ll find her bio, over 18 of her works, exclusive articles and up-to-date exhibition listings. This page also includes related artists and categories, allowing you to discover art beyond their Arbus’ page.

The Mission? To make all the world’s art accessible to anyone!

After the museum, you might want to grab something to eat. Try Uva that has some of the best truffle dishes. In the mood for an afternoon coffee? Try Bluestone Lane or the Brazilian Padoca Bakery.

Location: 945 Fifth Avenue (75th Street)

Fhitting Room: Helping You Stay Fit During Winter

Fitness Health Fhitting Room Class

We all know that we get a bit lazy to exercise during NYC’s winter time, but I tried out a while ago a high intensive training class at the Fhitting Room. I was very curious about it and simply loved! It will definitely keep you sexy and fit during winter.

This class is perfect not only during summer time, but winter too!

I enjoy smaller boutique fitness studios to work out and the Fhitting Room really impressed me with their technique, space, quality and beautiful crowd.

I mean, I’m definitely not the type that socialized during exercise and if I’m not sweating my brains out, there’s something wrong.

Well, at the Fhitting Room sweating was definitely not a hard task to fulfill.

So, the search began! I knew that the professional “behind” Olivia Palermo’s hair would be hard to schedule a real appointment, not to mention, an interview.

I was able to connect with the very kind, André Davis, Olivia Palermo’s hair stylist. He has been the guru behind Olivia’s hair style for the past 11 years! Plus, we also talked to Abby Haliti, responsible for Oliva’s amazing coloring! This duo is definitely unmatchable and one of a kind.

They both work at the Julien Farel Salon & Spa, located inside the upscale Loews Regency New York hotel.

If you want to book an appointment with them, you can mention you read this post, and try to get a spot.

Here are a few secrets and tips André gave me, when we met:

“In the summer, you should always try and use hats, that protect your hair from the sun, besides keeping you super stylish. After all, New York is the perfect city to use and abuse of them.

Using a small amount of sunscreen on the tips of your hair, will also make them healthy during the super hot season.

For fine hair, using a dry shampoo is a good option. And, for oily hair, Paul Mitchell and Oribe have amazing products.

I love the super well-known Ricky’s beauty stores, but my secret in New York is Beauty 35, located at 505 8th Avenue.”

For hats, we recommend for you to explore Satya Twena, the fine milliner/hatter and Goorin Bros, the super traditional and bold had brand!

What André loves about his work at Julien Farel Salon?

“Everything. From connecting with my client’s inner beauty and making then gain confidence with healthy hair to offering a good program for them to follow. This will definitely help keep ends clean and a sexy hair. I also love doing dramatic hair transformations. They are always exciting (laughs).”

Thank you André and Abby for your time! You guys are awesome!

I’ll surely be there soon to take care of my own hair.

They are originally from Belgium and have opened their first store in NYC this past February.

This new concept restaurant was created by Le Pain Quotidien’s Founder & Chief Creative Officer, Alain Coumont and will surely grow!

His awareness of how we all need to take care of our bodies and consequently take care of the planet, drives his passion and this healthy entrepreneurial spirit that we love. Oh! And yes, it’s Vegan!

We tried a few different dishes which were delicious:

  • Tibetan Mama Rice Bowl – brown rice packed with coconut peanut curry and greens,
  • Make Your Own Salad” – greens, seaweed tartare, marinated carrots, onions
  • Quinoa Chili with sour cream

We didn’t forget the dessert, of course! We had the Coconut Chia Seed Pudding and the Key Lime Pie.

And, we also ordered their house-made juices (the lemonade, and two detox), which were amazingly refreshing.

As we always say, there’s nothing better than a plant-based organic food restaurant!

Do you want to explore the Upper East Side? Well, let us help you out! Try some of these spots!

If you want to go for a good coffee, pass by Padoca Bakery! You can also go to the super upscale and trendy Sant Ambroeus a bit North from Le Botaniste.

Feel like splurge-shopping today!? Well, pass by Jack Vartanian’s amazing jewelry shop. He’s a famous Brazilian high-end jewelry designer that dresses powerful women like Gisele Bündchen,  Kate Hudson, Rachel McAdams and Jessica Alba.

Thom Browne Debates The Concept Of Individuality At Cooper Hewitt Museum

Culture Music Thom Browne Selects Cooper Hewitt

The men’s wear designer, Thom Browne, was the guest curator of #ThomBrowneSelects hosted inside Cooper Hewitt Museum. His work was certainly intriguing and discussed the concept of individuality.

Culture Music Thom Browne Selects Cooper Hewitt

“If you’re going into design, you should be in it only because you want to design things that are provocative and new. Be true to yourself and have the confidence to design according to what you think and not what other people are trying to tell you.” – Thom Browne

In a world where we see everyone copying everyone else and that individuality and being unique is so rare, Thom Browne challenges this topic in a recent project.

Hosted inside the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum, his installation gathered over 50 contemporary mirrors and frames that are part of they museum’s historic collection.

He explored the “ideas of reflection and individuality”. On the other hand of being the same, he shows the beauty and simplicity of working with a beautiful design.

Ok? You didn’t get it? He explains:

“Uniformity in the fashion world is almost a four-letter word, especially for women, who don’t want to wear the same thing every day. In actuality, it would be so refreshing and simplify things. If it’s beautifully made and fits really well, there’s nothing boring about that. It’s just beautiful.”

In an ongoing series, Thom Browne is the 13th exhibition where over 210,000 objects from Cooper Hewitt’s collection is used and interpreted by different outstanding designers, architects and artists.

The exhibition on view through October 23, 2016 at the Cooper Hewitt – The Smithsonian Design Museum. It’s located in landmark Carnegie Mansion.

Simply gorgeous! But, do keep posted on their upcoming exhibitions. They are always fantastic!

You can walk down 5th Avenue at stop at the both, super famous Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum. Or, just enjoy all the museums and galleries down the Museum Mile. It starts at the famous The MET Museum and goes all the way up to 105th Street.

Location: 2 East 91st Street (with 5th Avenue)

We woke up early today to visit a place that has been highly recommended by a few close friends. Padoca Bakery is a beautiful neighborhood bakery with the most amazing seasonal in house made products.

The Brazilian inspired spot, with clear International influences, is owned by the dear Marina Halpern.

The amazing pastry Chef, Rachel Binder, definitely surprised us with the variety of goodies. Plus, the fantastic smell as you walk in is priceless and everything we saw looked delicious!

Sweets range from chocolate dulce de leite babkas to oatmeal cookies and to-drool-for scones. They also sell the super traditional Brazilian PDQ (a.k.a. Pão de Queijo or cheese bread) that is definitely one of the highlights. Plus, the Empadinhas are done in-house, daily.

Their coffee, Nobletree, “is an innovative coffee brand of farmers, roasters and baristas based in Brooklyn, with proprietary coffee farms in Brazil”.

You can come by for lunch too. They serve Salads, Sandwiches and daily soups, all created by Chef Rocky.

Are you Vegan? Do try their Açai Bowl! We are sure you will love this Brazilian bakery in NYC.

Last but not least, they offer Catering Service, so feel free to contact them so they can help you host a great breakfast or brunch for friends!

Here are a few places you can visit and explore the neighborhood, since you went all the way up there.

You can have lunch (or dinner), in a few of our favorite restaurants like The East Pole (super trendy British tavern) and Uva (if you love truffled dishes)!

In addition, if you’re feeling like splurging a bit while shopping, why not buy that statement jewelry at Jack Vartanian. Take a look at our Private Jewelry Shopping & Consultation Services and get to meet the designers through an extremely exclusive experience.

Finally, if you are organizing a company dinner for your clients or c-level executives and team, read about our Corporate Services and how we can make it all seamless for you.
