NYC’s Jazz Age Lawn Party happens twice a year on Governors Island! Everyone that has attended before is most definitely on the countdown for next year’s party!
Even though this party is quite well known by New Yorkers and tourists, it’ one of the best events in New York. The Jazz Age Lawn Party is an outdoor day party on Governor’s Island that takes you back on a journey.

“The Jazz Age Lawn Party, now in its 11th year, is New York City’s original prohibition era inspired gathering. Hosted and conceived by Michael Arenella in 2015, the event started as a small gathering of fifty friends.
They came together on Governors Island to revel in the music of the Jazz Age, as performed by Michael Arenella and His Dreamland.
The event is carefully crafted and nurtured, growing into one of New York City’s most beloved summer events. This historically sold out event attracts 20,000 fans over two weekends. Guests come together to discover music and zeitgeist of the 1920s and 1930s. Plus, they learn the hottest dance steps of the time, frolic in their flapper dresses and glad rags. Plus, they enjoy sophisticated bites and vintage-inspired cocktails in a romantic, playful setting.
The event is consistently selected by the New York Times as one of “New York’s most memorable events”. The party offers a unique, interactive experiences.”
Lastly, costumes are not mandatory, but yes, dressing up as if you were in living in 20’s and 30’s is recommended.
