There are certain places in New York that we can’t escape from writing about, and Dominique Ansel Bakery is one of them. With his unique creations like the signature cronut, we advise you to find time and go try it out!

This isn’t exactly a “secret” kept by New Yorkers, but it’s definitely worth talking about!

Well, it obviously can’t be a secret when you pass in front of a store and there is a massive line that goes around the block right? That calls “a little” attention for any one passing by. Ha!

Located in SoHo, Dominique Ansel Bakery launched in November 2011. In just a few months, it received the award of the “Best New Bakery of 2012”! From that time on, the crazy, monstrous lines started!

Then, in 2013, Business Insider named Dominique as one of the “Most Innovative people Under 40”. Of course, after that he received numerous other important awards! His signature sweets are the cakes and tastes. Surely, hard to choose from!

But wait, we can’t forget about the famous and desired Cronut! It’s a mixture of Croissant with a Doughnut! Sound crazy good, right? Well, in simple terms: It. Is.

About the Cronut:

Taking 2 months and more than 10 recipes, Chef Dominique Ansel’s creation is not to be mistaken as simply croissant dough that has been fried. Made with a laminated dough which has been likened to a croissant (but uses a proprietary recipe), the Cronut® pastry is first proofed and then fried in grape seed oil at a specific temperature.

Once cooked, each Cronut® pastry is flavored in three ways: 1. rolled in sugar; 2. filled with cream; and 3. topped with glaze. The Cronut® pastries are made fresh daily, and completely done in house. The entire process takes up to 3 days.

There is only one flavor of the Cronut® pastry every month here in New York, London, and Tokyo, never repeating.

Other amazing items you might want to try at Dominique Ansel Bakery: the macarons, the homemade granola and the miniature meringues. Actually, the list is too big to write, so just be sure to try a few of what calls your attention! It’ll be hard to go wrong.
