I’m totally in love with everything at Nili Lotan!

The Israeli designer, Nili Lotan, moved to New York City in 1980. She worked as a Senior Design Director for several leading fashion companies, including Ralph Lauren and Nautica.

Therefore, after several years and greatly acquired experiences, Nili decided to launch her own eponymous label. Nili’s simple design philosophy is pure and sophisticated. Less is definitely more.

In addition, Nili says:

“A woman’s wardrobe should reflect her lifestyle and function as an extension of who she is.”

Perfectly and simply said, right? The more our wardrobe reflects our style, the better and more confident we fell in work and life situations.

The tops, shirts, t-shirts, dresses, jeans, scarves are all amazing. We have to confess that we are deeply in love with the eco baby alpaca sweaters. You can shop them all online.

Granted that Nili loves and appreciates art, she often exhibits artwork in the store.

Moreover, you will also find a collection of rare books on topics ranging from film, architecture, photography and design.

“Nili’s collections has been equally well received by the market and editors alike. Her pieces regularly feature in top fashion and lifestyle publications like VOGUE, Harper’s Bazaar, WSJ.

Furthermore, over the years, Nili’s designs have accrued a glittering list of dedicated followers including Gigi Hadid, Kendall Jenner, Christy Turlington, Jennifer Lawrence, Gwyneth Paltrow, Julianne Moore, and Karolina Kurkova, among many more.”

Since you’re passing through TriBeCa, you might want to explore it a bit! Stop for a great coffee and support Hugh Jackman’s beautiful cause at Laughing Man Tea & Coffee. Plus, go for a drink at the super traditional, Tiny’s or at the coveted Paul’s Cocktail Lounge.

And still, stroll through a New York City style alley.

What is NYC Hush Hush Tips?

We invite renowned and extremely influential people from all over the globe to share their NYC secret tips!

Natalie Klein, founder of the luxury multi-brand boutique nkStore in São Paulo, Brazil, launched her brand back in 1997.

She was quite young, but success was inevitable for this amazing woman!

In only a short time, she created, what is today, one of the most important fashion brands in Brazil.

Furthermore, with an amazing professional and personal journey, she was nominated by BOF – Business of Fashion, one of the most “talented retailers shaping the global fashion industry” in the #Bof500 initiative.

But, what is the BoF 500?

“The BoF 500 is the definitive professional index of the people shaping the $2.4 trillion fashion industry, hand-selected by the editors of The Business of Fashion, based on hundreds of nominations received from current BoF 500 members, extensive data analysis and research.”

Pretty amazing nomination, right!?

So, here are the best NYC gems and secrets that she loves:

Curiosities Insider Interviews Natalie Klein De Vera Crosby

“Devera is an amazing vintage jewelry store that mixes Federico De Vera’s sensibility for antiques with his jewelry design talent!”

The brand was first launched in San Francisco, back in 1991 with a creative approach to showcasing some of the most unique and singular objects and its beauties.

Furthermore, the New York location was then opened in 2003, due to Francisco’s desire to showing the world everything that he’s collected, his passion, his curious state of being about the natural world!

As Federico explains better:

“The gallery shows a finely curated selection including Venetian glass, Japanese lacquer, ivory carvings, 18th century religious figures and antique jewelry. Another unique focus is de Vera jewelry incorporating rare antique elements such as Roman intaglios and Georgian brooches, with precious gemstones including rose-cut diamonds, baroque pearls and Sardinian coral.”

Location: 1 Crosby Street

Curiosities Insider Interviews Natalie Klein Sasabune

“Sasabune is a very traditional Japanese restaurant at the Upper East Side with a “Trust Me” menu – you’ll eat what Chef Kenji Takahashi prepares! It’s always a different experience.”

The restaurant is exactly the type of restaurant that we love to talk about and to show people what New York City is about!

It is very small, and décor is very simple.

But, then again, who need fancy furniture to eat well, right? The focus is definitely on the food, that is to-die-for!

They only serve the Omakase, the chef’s tasting menu, so you’ll have to trust and enjoy!

Plus, for drinks be sure to experiment their different sakes. If you’re not sure which one to order, they are always happy to help you pair it with your dishes!

Location: 401 East 73rd Street

Curiosities Insider Interviews Natalie Klein BDDW

“BDDW is one of the best spot for amazing furniture. The timeless pieces are handmade and well-crafted, designed by the founder Tyler Hays.”

As we’ve written about BBDW before, if you’re the type that enjoys unique items and want to detach and withdraw from the rest of the crowd that purchase in bigger, well-known stores, BDDW is the perfect place for you.

In addition, all items and idealized and designed by the Founder, Tyler Hays, at his Philadelphia Studio.

Tyler expertise are various, from painter and sculpture, to engineer and a pretty talented builder. The result of these expertise are breathtaking pieces of art works for your home!

Location: 5 Crosby Street

The Beatrice Inn

Curiosities Insider Interviews Natalie Klein Beatrice Inn

“The Beatrice Inn is, in my opinion, one of the best places to hang out with great food and cocktails. A footnote on the menu reads “Photography is not permitted”, so just enjoy your food!”

The place is a hot spot for celebrities and is a very high-end chophouse in the West Village.

Ans, as they explain:

“Owned by the lauded Chef Angie Mar, and her partner Melissa Merrill Keary, the Beatrice Inn is the edgy, underground version of the traditional New York chophouse.”

So, if you’re a meat eater, this is definitely a place to go!

Location: 285 West 12th Street

Freemans Restaurant

Curiosities Insider Interviews Natalie Klein Freemans

“I love Freemans. Even though it’s becoming more and more well known, the experience of walking into this suspicious alley it always thrilling. The food is great, as is the crowd!”

And, we also love Freemans, and have featured them before! Along the alley you need to walk though to get to the restaurant, you’ll find a few great graffiti works on the brick walls. Perfect for that Instagram-photo-moment!

At the very, very, very end, you’ll find this beyond charming turquoise blue, wooden door surrounded by countless vases with plants and flowers.

Ristorante Morini

Curiosities Insider Interviews Natalie Klein Ristorante Morini

“Ristorante Morini is another restaurants with great food and crowd! It’s always one of place I love to go when I’m passing by New York City!”

The place is an upscale neighborhood Italian restaurant serving various seasonal specialties and fantastic old-country wines.

Plus, if you’re the type that enjoys experimenting and tastings. The they explain:

“Ristorante Morini’s beverage program complements the depth and breadth of the menu, with a large emphasis on Italian wine of various selections from Europe and America. The vibrant downstairs bar is host to an inventive cocktail list, crafted by the talented Altamarea Group mixology team.”

Locations: 1167 Madison Avenue

Rare Vintage

Curiosities Insider Interviews Natalie Klein Rare Vintage

“Rare Vintage is a vintage shop with the most amazing gowns! The very best of two centuries of fashion can be found with a highly edited collection.”

You’ll be able to find the very best of two centuries of fashion with a highly edited collection.

The store was founded in 2007 by Juliana Cairone. Juliana is Diane Vreeland’s grand daughter. At a very young age was exposed to amazing pieces of “art” by renowned designs.

Today, most of the items are bought from private collections found in the four major fashion capitals – New York, London, Milan and Paris. Items are unique, in great conditions and were statements in their own decades.

Location: 24 West 57th Street

Milk & Honey

Curiosities Insider Interviews Natalie Klein Milk and Roses

“One of the top secrets in town with the best dry Martini is called Milk & Honey! The bar is “against celebrity-obsessed nightlife” and has a list of strict house rules to follow.”

We just love secret places and we’ve written about other speakeasy spots through out the website.

Not only the experience of searching for it is super exciting, but once you do find it and walk in, it feels like your entering a parallel universe.

Usually they are hidden behind secret doors, or in basements, and even in the back of other venues, that you can access only with a secret code through a little entrance.

We love it!

Location: 134 Eldridge Street

Lastly, Thank you, Natalie, for sharing your best NYC gems tips exclusively with us!!!

Jay Kos is one of the stores we really enjoy recommending to the bold, unique men with strong and fearless personality.

Jay’s story begins back in Westfield, New Jersey. It doesn’t surprise us when we learned that Jay had a hard time adjusting to the uniformity and lack of individualism of that community. Inside, he wanted to express his talent and creativity, but it was only years later that he got closer to the fashion universe.

At 16 he started his own flea market business and in the early 1990’s he began selling high-end luxury brands. In no time, he was the “talk of the town”!

He even tried Dental School, but found out his real calling, was Fashion!

Today,  Jay is not only a designer, but also a Chef. He gets much of his design inspiration from the food’s tastes, colors and textures! Pretty special, huh!?

His store is located in SoHo and it’s décor sends you back to the 1940’s, with a twist.

He designed a special kitchen that, if you’re lucky enough, you’ll be served a snack by Jay himself! The selection for the bold and adventurous men range from polka-dot ties, felt hats, rich colored vests and blazers, to other pretty exotic items.

In addition, for the more conservative men, they are also able to find amazing items. From perfectly tailored linen and wool suits, corduroy pans and the best: exclusively tailored suits that range from $4,500 up to $20,000. Certainly a special piece to have in your closet.

It can get pretty expensive, but Jay’s singular touch and eye for details do make the price comprehensible.

Shopping at Jay Kos NYC is, above all, a rare experience! So, enjoy!

If you’d like to have a Personal Stylist helping you out, and even pre selecting the items that match your style and taste, contact our experts.

To start, Bonpoint isn’t exactly a “behind the scenes” brand, but it’s surely worth the attention!

People tend to say that it’s very hard to raise kids in New York City and that you’d have to be crazy to even consider such a thing.

Well, we strongly disagree with this statement. Actually, we believe that kids that are raised in NYC tend to become strong and successful human beings. Being raised in this multicultural, dynamic and empowering city can only mostly bring benefits. But, then again, it’s our point of view.

Plus, our Founder, Fê Paronetto, is totally in love with the city. Not only does she believe in the benefits stated above, but she also has very close friends in NYC that are raising their kids here. Result? They are having the best time ever!

Shopping for kids can be a challenge, specially because they grow up so quickly. There are numerous fast fashion brands that are perfect to buy more daily clothes and underwear. On the other hand, you also need to have in mind which are the brands that you can find, in case you have a special event or occasion. These do have higher price ranges, but worth every dollar.

Founded in 1975, in the heart of Paris, Bonpoint is one of these high-end kid’s fashion brands. In other words, they are a couture fashion brand for the little ones!

The brand has now extended their reach to countless cities across the globe, with over 110 stores.

They offer a fantastic range of the cutest clothes and accessories for newborns, babies, girls and boys! With 3 addresses in New York City, they also sell shoes, perfume and skincare products.

Not to mention that their campaigns are the cutest thing ever!

A little bit more about the brand:

“Rich in the savoir-faire of a couture house, thanks to its artisan studios in Paris, Bonpoint cultivates the precision of beauty, the passion for quality and a meticulous attention to detail and finishing.

Bonpoint is the French fashion house for children. A unique destination with its spot-on style, poetic universe tinged with humour and magic, inspired window displays and the warm atmosphere of its boutiques and flagship stores in the heart of Saint-Germain-des-Prés in Paris and on Madison Avenue in New York.

Every season the house’s artistic director, Christine Innamorato, invents an enchanting and creative collection for Bonpoint, from newborn to teenagers and YAM – for those young women who are still Bonpoint girls at heart.”

So, if you’re looking for that special dress for the girls, or a mini suit and cardigan for the boys, this house of French couture for kids is the place to go!

Your baby will most surely be the best dressed kid in the party and the most stylish one too!

If you need help shopping, our experts are great to dress the stylish NYC kids! Contact us to see how our private personal shopping service works.
