Our Founder, Fê Paronetto, attended a unique weaving class at Space Ninety 8,in Williamsburg. The significance and presence of handcrafted work continues to grow with local New York artisans.
Handcrafted fashion and handcrafted work has definitely a new meaning today since everything is currently “Made in China”, right? The more customized the better and, when it’s handcrafted, by New York artisans, we love it even more.
This workshop was definitely a must-go for those who believe in creating art with your own hands!
Our Founder, Fê Paronetto, attended a super cool weaving class at Space Ninety 8, in Williamsburg. The afternoon was with the super talented Ahna, Founder of Prissage Studio.
To start, a space sectioned off, within the store, dedicated to the workshop. Urban Outfitters provided some pretty great refreshments, which everyone enjoyed.
As soon as the workshop started, we were provided (to keep!): a handmade wooden loom, tools to weave with – 2 shuttle sticks, a weaving sword, tapestry needle, yarn to finish your tapestry and further instructions.
Plus, it was a 3 hours long course since weaving is a very intensive process. Even so, many people weren’t able to finish their first wall hanging tapestry in class. Ahna taught everyone how continue it at home and finish the piece.
Fê created a tiny one and had enough time to finish it. Take a look at the gallery above to see the final result. Not a pro, but was worth a try…hahaha!
We really enjoyed this unique and fun day with Prissage Studio!
If you like this type of work, take a look at a few home decor stores! We love BDDW, From the Source and Yes Please.
