SYNOPSIS: Rigoletto by Giuseppe Verdi

“Rigoletto’s” a seemingly innocuous pizza shop run by a famed deformed clown, Rigoletto, is actually a store front for Sicilian mob boss, “the Duke,” who uses the venue as an actual speak easy to operate his drug distribution efforts.

The unsavory scene is a playground for the Duke’s depraved behavior, where a father’s curse destroys everything that Rigoletto holds dear.

BACKSTORY:

About producer Rebecca Fay Walsh, aka Faymous, and her inspiration for creating alternative theatrical platforms and is “exposing Opera to a new audience and preserving this unique art form for years to come.”

“FAYMOUS was founded by Rebecca Fay Walsh, an Opera singer in New York City. “Fay,” a rising star in the Opera world, had been recognized many times by the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions for her soprano voice.

In addition, when she arrived in New York City to pursue her career on stage, she was equipped with another tool beyond her voice; a recently purchased a DSLR Canon camera. Thanks to the ease and intuitive nature of the Canon cameras, Fay became a highly sought after portrait photographer in a matter of months, pulling her career trajectory in an unexpected direction.

Also, her talents garnered the attention of Emerald Gruin, the gallery director of the ROX Gallery on the lower east side where she was offered an artist residency.

During this time, Fay documented many of the greatest stars in the Opera world, not limited to Diana Damrau, Isabel Leonard, Ailyn Perez, Jamie Barton, Matthew Polenzani, and Sing for Hope founders, Monica Yunus & Camille Zamora.

Moreover, Emerald encouraged Fay to deepen her relationships with these exceptional artists by offering the gallery as a recital platform. Fay’s concept was to expose a new audience to these artist’s voices in a pure and exposed manner juxtaposed against the backdrop of a notoriously edgy contemporary art gallery.

After an Opera showcase, Opéra ROX, featuring Isabel Leonard and other stars of the Metropolitan Opera, FAYMOUS was born.

Lastly, FAYMOUS continues to maintain the spirit of this first performance, promoting classical singers and Opera by creating alternative platforms in New York. In building these platforms, Fay hopes to foster a new generation of Opera lovers, preserving this unique art form for years to come.”
